Illy crashed and re-opened a restored file which I thought was complete -- so I saved it as my original file AND saved that as my backup. Then I realized that half the content was in fact missing from that file; weeks of work gone... And now, I have spent the past hour on Adobe's support who keeps telling me I should find the file where I saved it. Which is not exactly what I need. 🙂 He also claims that my recovered files are in DropBox, which I frankly don't understand since I've never used that service and I doubt that Adobe is using that platform for storage of user files, but he is not able to provide any explanation. He also told me sign out of Creative Cloud and back several times, which didn't appear to serve any purpose. So, what I despearately need to know is this: Exactly where does Illy store the recovery versions it automatically creates? Hello,I am a CC subscriber, with the latest version of PS and AI, as they upgrade automatically. I run both on Windows 10.I am unable to go successfully through the following scenario:1. select a path in AI;2. grab & drop it in a design in PS ("place" it), so that it becomes a Vector Smart Object;3. double click on the Vector Smart Object's thumbnail in the PS Layer's palete, in order to further adjust the paths that comprise the Vector Smart Object.EXPECTED RESULT: the Vector Smart Object should open in AI; upon changing and saving it here, it will automatically update in PS.ACTUAL RESULT: (1) if AI is not running at the moment, it starts, but will not load my Vector Smart Object; the "home" screen of AI is shown instead; or, (2) if AI is already running (freshly started), its icon flashes in Windows' task bar, but my Vector Smart Object won't load either; the "home" screen of AI keeps showing instead.This was a crucial workflow in my work. After Illustrator update generate text to vector not working properly - whatever text I prompt with it produces incomplete vectors as per image here ( should have been a dog with a bone ) In the preview whilst creating variations they look complete but when finished nothing is complete - many vectors missing ! Any ideas anyone how to resolve - restarted illustrator many times which made no difference !

In my illustrator, the properties panel on the right side disappeared. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but that didn't help. How can I get it to reappear please?

Hi everyone!If anyone has any insight or suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.My current "fix" was dowloading and using an older version of Adobe Illustrator, but a small error still arose with that.There was a change of the SVG code with no option to choose the former SVG code (which we need for our eProduct). Also other issues appeared when saving AI to SVG. I must have pushed something or selected something in right click menu, but now even in the Selection tool I am showing all of my anchor points/nodes.  I have toggled show edges on and off. I want to see the line normal, without the anchors like when using Direct Select. Also the Show Anchor Points in Selection Tools is turned off. This happened mid use and I know it did it on a right click menu or some hot key.  Then when I go to the Direct Selection tool, I can see the adjsutable radii nodes now, but when I hover on an anchor or handle, the words telling me what I'm on is gone.

I have about 20 Diagrams of the same type and want to "automate" the process since I have to put in new data every month.I want to display the values of the bars next to them and I tried it with applying designs but the bars are not the correct length, also when the bar is very short it gets really messed up, how can I fix this?

Hey there, has anyone found a fix for this problem after the new Windows 22HD update? I print a ton of stuff from Illustrator via usb to my Canon Pixma Pro 100. However, after the update it seems like only my Adobe programs have been affected by this issue. Basically, when  I go to print in Illustrator the normal print dialogue still pops up (although takes much longer now). However, my issue is that when I click "Setup" to choose my printer settings, this dialogue now appears before the normal printing preferences window does, and again after, and as a result negates the paper size I just changed. Here's what my old workflow looked like:And now it looks like this:Does anyone have a fix to this? This is super frustrating and really slows down my workflow and apparently my computer. This window never shows up when printing from Chrome, just in Adobe.I also can't post on the Windows forums because they won't let me choose a display name, and every time I try to the page freezes

I am trying to import gradients from photoshop to illustrator. I have saved my gradient from photoshop however when I try to import it onto illustrator it comes up with "the file is in a unkown format and its styles cannot be imported." Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can fix it? The file is saved as a .gdr

Hello, I am having issues with pasting or placing PNG files into illustrator. Everytime a white background is added.  I have used the same files on other collegues computers and they are fine, no backgrounds added.I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling illustrator.I have imported over a collegues settings over mind and that did not work.  Any help would be appreciated. thank you

Hello all, I've been experiencing some odd outcone after converting a file from Illustrator to PDF. The file has multiple images in high res but only this one set of three images get jagged edges after exporting. I tried everything and still the results aren't any good. I put attached an image of the illustrator file on the left and the PDF result on the right. I'm probably doing something wrong when exporting but I tried exporting in all possible PDF Presets, changed image compression many times in different presets, renamed the png files, converted in all types of png's, downloaded the files again... you name it. What is intriguing is why only three pictures are pixalated while all the others are good? Any advise would be tremendously appreciated. 

I am having a major issue with the pen tool. I find that putting anything above the lowest fidelity setting is smoothing the path too much. Yet if you put it on the lowest then it is much too rough with hundreds of anchor points.I want to be able to create lines with details in it, but allow for some slight smoothing, but although there are a number of settings on the scale, it seems to go from rough to very smooth and no inbetween.Is there another setting that may be skewing this effect that I am missing, because it is making sketching extremely difficult and somewhat impossible to achieve the level of detail I need.Thanks.

Hi!I'm taking an online course in illustrator and in one lesson the teacher (using CC) guided us through the process of working with text in 3d.He wrote a word, then made a compound shape of it and expanded it.Later, he applied the Extrude & Bevel effect, and then expanded the appearance.Finally, he ungrouped the word.The result was the word was now in 3d, and every side of each letter was independent and could be edited individually.  I went through the whole process step by step, with Illustrator 2022. However, I did not get the same result with the new Extrude & Bevel effect. After applying the effect, I expanded the appearance and everything became one object, and ungrouping it did nothing. Looking around in the forums here, I realized there was the "Classic" Extrude & Bevel option, so I tried that instead, and it provided the desired result.  My questions are: why doesn't it work with the new 2022 effect?And, is there a way to get that result u

I would love to see Flick Panning (inertial scrolling) implemented in Adobe Illustrator and Indesign, just like in Photoshop. Currently, when using the Hand Tool (spacebar + drag), the canvas stops immediately when releasing the mouse or pen, which feels unnatural and less fluid.Adding Flick Panning would greatly improve the user experience, making navigation smoother and more intuitive, especially for users switching between Adobe applications. Thank you for considering this improvement!

I am very familar with Illustrator (CS4) except I keep having this one issue!!!!  I know how to make new swatches, solid color or a pattern, but have been having problems with making a new pattern swatch.  For example, say it's a basic square with some lines it in, or a plaid pattern or something, I drag it over into the swatch area and it's supposed to create a new swatch in there.  This does not happen more times than most.  When I drag it over it highlights the swatch window black like it is going to recieve it, but then nothing happens.  I've tried expanding the art, rasterizing it, drawing a transparent box on it, trying to somehow make it a symbol first, I dunno.  Can't figure it out.  If anyone can help me, I would be soooooooo happy!  I am working on a brand new macbook pro with 4G RAM and have no other programs open.Thanks for your help in advance!!Joe

i made a circle of stars in adobe illustrator but all the stars are rotated differently. The blend/replace spine video I found online shows it correctly but mine is not turning out that way.  that video was from 2022, maybe something has changed? my shows the stars in a circle and you can see they are all slightly rotated more and more as the go around the circle. they should appear as the star in the center. Thanks in advance for the help

Is the a way to get a pattern to center up the fill.On the left is a rectangle field with the pattern.On the right is the expanded pattern so you can see this is designed so the floret is centered.

I just realized that the special marks / em/en dash / spacing options were reorganized, but I can't find the option »non-breaking space« anymore? I must admit that I usually work with a German UI but changed it to English recently. Am I missing something or did Adobe get rid of this option?
