I used the 'new window' command to work on a file which opened a second window to see the overview of the file while I worked in the first window (both windows tiled). Now, I can't turn off the second window. Each time I open the file, it opens in two windows. How do I revert to one window for the file? I tried shutting down AI and restarting, but it persists.
Hey there,I have a file (see image below) that has various Call IDs/Mine Calls over individual artboards. I was hoping there was script to automatically rename the artboards to reflect each individual ID, so that when using the export function, the PDFs (exported as individual pages) are named with the artboard name as a suffix without me having to manually change the artboard name each time.Does anyone have any suggestions?
How would I open and close the Variables panel using JavaScript? Looking at the JavaScript Object Reference, I can't figure it out at all. I thought there might be something like app.panels, but it doesn't seem like there is.
As you can see, I can't reach the "next" tab in the Discover window. How can this be fixed? I already tried switching the UI preferences to large tabs
Illustrator allows for sub-pixel accuracy in artwork and artboard positioning and sizes. To get a clean, precise export for screens, your artboard needs to be aligned to the pixel grid. This means all its edges need to perfectly line up with the pixel grid.Sometimes Illustrator, using Export for Screens, exports an image with an extra pixel row or column, and many consider this to be a bug. However, while it is certainly not desirable behaviour, and could benefit from more intelligent handling, there is sound logic behind it.The root of the problem is when the Artboard Reference Point is set to center. This means the X & Y coordinates are based on the center point of the artboard.Consequently, when the width or height of your artboard is an odd number, the edges of the artboard are pushed off the pixel grid, and end up in between pixels. Illustrator then tries to compensate for this during export and ends up adding an extra pixel.Example:Artboard width: 99 px, X postion: 0The left
I know how to use the tool. Can I turn it off? Please and thank you.
I deal with line art drawings exported from Seimens NX cad software on a daily basis. In order to select the various views on the page, I need to release a clipping mask that is added upon export. I have always done a select all, right click, select ungroup from the popup options, then right click and select release clipping mask from popup options. After updating to illustrator 28.7.1 last week, the option to release clipping masks is gone. Where did it go and how can I get it back? There have been no changes to the cad software as they are major updates and the entire company is made aware of changes and updates to the software. Title says it all, but to clarify: When saving an SVG from Illustrator, I would like to store the extra options as defaults. I'm talking about the options in the image below and especially the amount of decimals. Too often I forget to change the number of decimals when saving. Especially when "more options" is not displayed by default so it is very easy to look over it. My icon illustrations then get stored with distorted borders and ugly whitespace between some objects. They become pretty much unusable. Can I store my settings as default so whenever I save an SVG, these settings will automatically apply and illustrations will always get saved correctly? Many thanks in advance!
I have a logo I've been working on with lots of layers, and sub-layers and now I would like to collapse or 'flatten' everything into one layer for use as a logo without the encumbrance of the many layers it took to make this artwork. I've tried 'flatten' but that still keeps the layers and sub-layers. I'm not sure what else to try. I want what is on top to appear and layers below to be sandwiched down so everything looks like it is on the screen. In Photoshop, I would just flatten and get the result I am looking for on one layer, but in Illustrator, it's not cooperating the way I would like it to. I have converted all type to paths, so that is done.Where do I go from here to get the 'flattened' file I am after?TIA,Ken
I exported a frame from figma to svg. Then converted to AI. I created a circle with desired hex value and text with the same value. Then I copied over a text from the svg. All those object shared the same colour value. When imported into AE the colour is visibly different. However when I eyedrop the colour from the circle it changes in AE even though the value in illustrator remains the same. The video shows what I mean Any ideas as to why this might be happening? The document is in RGB mode. AE is in 8 bits sRGB. No funny business (other frames export fine from figma).
I am trying to setup the Connect plugin for Illustrator but for the life of me cannot get past the plug in issue warning that keeps popping up (image attached). I have uninstalled both apps and reinstalled with the latest versions, upated my computer and made sure everything is compatible. I'm currently running macOS Sonoma 14.5, Illustrator 2024 v.28.5, and Connect V1.7.791. I've also attached pictures of the installation process of Connect which says its successfully installed? Any help would be greatly appreciated! [moved from bugs to discussions in the correct community (Illustrator instead of Lightroom Classic) according to the community rules - Mod.]
I am trying to import a drawing that is at 1:500 scale. It is about 8" long on an 11x17" sheet: I can't figure out how to configure the DWG import so that I get the same size on the default AI artboard. 1/500 or .002 gives me something that's 2" long on the artboard: The DWG being imported is in Metric units, while the artboard is in SI.
I was working on a logo, Illustrator crashed. After I reopened illustrator, there were recovered files. Illustrator then crashed again and I lost all my recovered files. Any help?
I recently installed Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign on my Win 10 22H2 computer. Photoshop works fine, but Illustrator displays an error (see image) and InDesign won't even open. Can anybody help me to figure this problem out? Thanks in advance,
I need to end this dragged text effect at the end of a die cut of a box in a product design proof. How do I stop the red at the end of the box die cut in the photo attached? Thanks!
The current default is a bit too narrow, causing any artwork which overlaps the board edges to cross over into the adjacent. I tried doing the arrange artboards with adjusted settings but it makes the artwork misalign. Is there a way to configure how it spaces them out by default? Say, to 40px Thanks
I use Artboard a lot, I have to recheck this every time I export. How can I make Illus remember this setting?
This morning my Illustrator won't snap to guides. I've never had this issue before and I have checked my settings, done a reset of the settings, tried to turn smart guides on/off without any luck. What else can I try?
1. I chose a font (Myriad Pro) to type in paragraph and changed to another font (Arial), after that i typed and it changed to previous font (Myriad Pro).2. When i released a clipping mask and pressed Undo to back clipping mask mode, but it appeared as non clipping mask although it was a clipping mask. What can I fix?
Hi all, I am wondering when I export png and jpg from same Illustrator file, why do the colors look different? See screenshots. Using Illy CC version, document color mode RGB, color profie sRGB. I don't have the best with color management knowledge, but I'm trying! Thanks for any advice & tips.
I know how to grab colors from a web page or whatever on my computer to use as fill in Illustrator. However, for some reason, now Illustrator will ONLY grab colors from my task bar at the bottom of the screen. It won't grab from webpages, my desktop, pictures, etc. When I'm trying to grab a color, I see the eyedropper, but the color never changes in the fill box in Illustrator. It always just stays white or black and will then turn my image white or black. If I go down to the task bar, it has no problem grabbing colors from the Firefox logo or the Illustrator logo. Any advice? Edited to add: I just noticed I can also grab colors from my File Explorer, but still not from any websites.
I need to export an art board that is 8x10ft (large cartography project) as a PNG that's at a resolution suitable enough for printing. I can't export anything past 72 ppi, but would prefer it to be at 300 if possible. Any suggestions would be appreciated!!
Hello! In Illustrator, I'd like to know how to keep the formatting of a text when I modify its content. This wasn't a problem before, but now whenever I edit text, whether it's in a text box or not, it automatically resets to the default font. It's really frustrating! Is there an option somewhere to check/uncheck? Thanks for the hints!
Hi, I created a business card for print. My business card includes an image with transparency. How can I ensure that it prints correctly? I was told there could be issues, but I am unsure how to optimize it.
