I'm following a tutorial and the youtuber tries to recreate this shape. He draws the squiggles with the pen tool and swaps the fill and stroke and increases the weight and changes the width profile. He draws all the squiggly lines and unites it with the path finder tool. However, the fill and stroke switches for some reason. He doesn't explain why in the video so I'm confused. I know how the unite pathfinder works, and I feel like that doesn't really apply in this scenario:Combining Shapes: When you select two or more overlapping shapes and click on the Unite button in the Pathfinder panel, Illustrator merges these shapes into one cohesive object. Most of the Data Set is working fine, until I used Photoshop to edit one of the image to be used in dataset, I saved it with the same name, not changing size and extension, but then this error will show if I try to select the dataset with updated image. The same files works if I relink the placeholder file manually. Any ideas how to troubleshoot?
I can't find the answer for this anywhere. I wanted to learn how color books worked and to build my own so I started with the Pantone solid coated library. The end result was 3,220 colors.* Every color was validated, for it's existence, with pantone's own website using a URL pattern. Pantone's website states: "Includes 2,390 total Colors with the largest gamut in the Pantone Graphics System." after adding "224 new colors"[sic] sourceV4 on github has 2140 colors, which I believe is the only book out right now. (I decoded the acb file to get the 2140 count.)If Pantone states there are 2,390 colors available then1.) where did the extra 830 colors come from, out of the 3220 that I validated? 2.) What color book version are we on? 4? 5? The ones that aren't found in other books are in the 9,000 and 10,000 range, which would probably mean they are new colors.To add:How long does it take to release a color?Are they artificially delayed updates?&nbs

We need components and variables in illustrator for packaging design. I often have packaging designs in multiple flavor varieties all ready to print but I need to make an edit to a single variable on a single element on the design, let's say the size of the logo (but all other variables of the logo shouldn't change). I have to make this edit multiple times on each variety which is never 100% accurate.

I have an AIC file I've been working on and saving to the cloud that now refuses to open or download. I've tried the following:restartingsigning out and back in againrenaming the filecreating a copy of the documentopening the file from both the Illustrator app and the creative cloud through the browser version and in the desktop app I've reset my account preferencesThe app is up to date (version 28.5) and my Mac is running Sonoma 14.5. I am only utilizing a small portion of my account cloud storage. It is only this singular file which is giving me difficulty. Any other trouble-shooting options you could recommend would be greatly appreciated! This file had many days of work go into it and I would prefer to not start from scratch!
Hello... Over the past few months I have created a dozen or so image trace presets. They were added to the drop-down image trace menu in the order created. I would like to re-order them in a more logical fashion. (I will also re-name them for consistency, but I know how to do that.) Is that possible? Thanks.Steve Sander
Illustrator either fails to update at 88% or I uninstall it and I try to reinstall and the reinstall fails at 88%. Any idea what is causing these failures or experiencing the same issues?
Hey! So I'm new at this whole illustrator thingy and i have a question:I wanted to edit a stroke I've drawn with the drawing tool, and selected Object > Path > Outline Stroke.After doing so it seemed like i was able to edit the outline of the stroke, but i couldn't figure it out how to revert it to normal path editing mode.Anyone could help? Hi community, this one is a really hard one! Going back and forth for a couple of days now my brain got completely stucked... so please give me some input or maybe someone can work out a functional script in this case: A bunch of coordinates (longitude & latitude values) must be transfered onto an Illustrator map to set a dot for each location... Every time I try to round the edges of a 3 points star (triangle) the notification bellow shows up on my Adobe Illustrator (Beta) 28.7 version and as a consequence I can't round it. I updated my Illustrator to 28.5 at the beginning of the week, but today I had to roll back to 28.4.1. I was having terrible issues with long wait times for copy and paste, I was getting so many "not responding" alerts, but most frustrating of all were the issues with dragging objects and panning with the hand tool. I layout pages for parts manuals and I am constantly arranging views on pages. I struggled with not being able to move any objects around on the page. I would select the object, illustrator would brielfy stop responding and I'd get the spinning cursor. Once the object was selected, trying to move it was a problem. More often than not, I just couldn't move it unless I waited for 10 to 20 seconds. I'd have the object highlighted, click on it to drag it, and I would have to keep the mouse button pressed and slowly drag the mouse. After waiting the 10 to 20 seconds, and another "not responding" message, I could move it. It was taking FOREVER to get my job done! Placing text was
hi, i recently downloaded Illustrator and after setting preferences it started crashing.any other attempts to open the program lead to the screen turning white and the tab stating "not responding".i have uninstalled and reinstalled the program to no avail. i restarted my laptop, I even tried youtube videos but nothing seemed to fix this issue. for reference, i use a windows laptop that runs photoshop and only illustrator seems to be a problem. any help is appreciated.xx

Hi,I am needing to recreate a decal for someone and only have the attached photos to go off.The font doesn't seem to exist and I can't find this exact logo online anywhere.How can I make a vector of the text in this photo so that I can create new decals?I attempted to image trace, and while it kind of worked, the text was skewed due to the angle of the photo, and the edges came out super wavy.Any help would be great! Long time away we have several problems on conversión, both rgb to cmyk or cmyk to rgb. Todays brand needs use multi-channel enviroments. The use of Adobe Library´s made this ecosistem too much efective, but here we aways have the same problem with samples, the conversión works well at 99% of photographys but at only a 10% of color samples, that usually are well defined on corporate colors. We usually made in-design or illustrator files both to web content or to be printed in hard systems, sometimes change colors samples by hand on all of assets are imposible. Define the output of a sample both in RGB and CMYK will solve most of color problems on corporate brands. Thank you!
Hello, first time posting I hope I'm doing this correctly.Basically, I have a file that requires a text change which is then exported and edited in Photoshop. I recently have started experimenting with Envelope Distorts as it offered me better control over the span of my documents text areas, however when I run my script on the document, it fails to catch any text that is wrapped with an Envelope Distort. I'm assuming it's because the script is searching for textFrames and when part of an Envelope Distort text becomes something else.Thanks!
I have a Revit project with a lot of curved geometry and DWG exports have much better linework quality than the revit vector print. I can bring the DWG into illustrator to easily verify the quality is much higher. But, I lose all of my line styles, as they get imported to AI with the CAD default colors assigned to the layers, requiring a lot of extra work to select layers and change the color back to black, etc. I am wondering if I can import the DWG plans into illustrator and somehow automate the process of changing how the layers display. Hi Community, First time posting so excuse me if I don't explain myself the best. I need to attach a design to a cup wrap and make sure it doesn't distort or misalign. I have attached images for reference. You'll notice on the 2nd pic the left side doesn't align nor do the black lines on the right portion. I have a basic understanding of Adobe but this is done by an outsourced designer and he's not been able to fix it... Many thanks,Joe

Can no longer colour bitmaps or import them with transparent backgrounds in version 28.5.Bitmaps now appear as it they were a JPEG when opened or imported into a new AI document.Had to rollback the update to an older version.
HiAnyone know how I could create this effect? I want to see the back of a isometric sign / lettering. see pic. I keep reflecting and rotating but no luck. Any ideas? ThanksMark
