I am having an issues with layers being maintained when exported to dxf from Illustrator.I always have 2 layers, Layer 1 has 5 6mm black filled (no stoke) dots, Layer 2 has Lines and sometimes circles (no fill only stroke).Exporting to dxf file, preserve appearence. When the dxf is opened it is read as 3 layers, lines/circles on one layer and the 6mm filled dots split between 2 layers.I have tried exporting different ways and recreating the dots and I am not sure what to do next.This issues does not alway happen, all files are created the same and have been exported the same.Not sure if it is the cad program or Illustrator.

I created a template on adobe illustrator with a bunch of clipping masks. I found a script to replace the image link for all 9 clipping masks on the art board at the same time.   But to replace the clipping mask image with 1000+ different images from one folder, is there a way to record and batch while also changing the name of the file as the jpg or png file's name? Here is what I used to fast relink each of the images instead of clicking replace link for individual images : youtube.com/watch?v=DaKv0NqTD88   Again my issue is trying to replace each link with over 1000+ images and then saving the adobe illustrator file as a new file with the image link's name using record/batch.

Hello, I am facing this issue alot. Please provide me the fix.Scenario:I created a new file in cmyk color mode. I work with print so, made a swatch rectangle with black (50/50/50/100). this is another file downloaded from internet. i copy and paste it to the document i made. then i checked the color cmyk values of the rectangle, it is reverted to 75/68/67/90. i try to change it back to 50/50/50/100, it reverted back to same value 75/68/67/90. help me out. thank you. i want universal solution

Is there an easy way to get the repeat tool to skip any elements partly in and partly outside the Clippping Mask that repeat generates: Ideally it wouild be part of the Repeat Oject properties that could be configured using the Property panel as demonstrated in the image. Since that feature is not available, how would I write a script that checked to see if the bounds of each item intersected with the clipping mask? If it does, assign a Graphic Style to it so I can configure them differently (like making them opactiy:0)  

I am trying to merge two circles together.  However, when I do this, the stroke thickness of the inner circle always becomes thinner.  Is there any way to merge these two objects while maintaining the stroke thickness?I'm fairly new to Illustrator.  I've tried different things, like Expanding, but nothing seems to work.1) The thickness I want:2) The thickness after merging the circles:

hi community...Does anyone know how to outline paths in such a way that outlines the entire outside of the group? In my outlined group below, you can see that the individual paths and arrowheads are each outlined separately. How to I outline the whole organism, so to speak, so that the intersecting parts are not outlined? I tried grouping each line and then nesting those groups under one big group of the whole. I also just tried simply grouping all the components with no nested groups. Thanks!

Okay I thought maybe I could figure this issues out own my own. Am currently helping a company rebrand themselves. We just received the approved color palettes to use to start swapping out colors. Now my issue here is that I keep entering the HEX values and noticed it swapped back, of course this was brought to my attention by my boss ( who probably thinks am not using the right Hex). So I was told to enter the values separately. So when I reopened the file I thought maybe I had entered the wrong Hex. But now I enter it the probably values in RGB and CMYK in the color picker, and the hex goes into the correct one. But once I reopen the picker, it swaps it back again. I am using the latest version and even tried to look into any videos that may help. But haven't found a corrected answer. I know it maybe has to do with the color settings. So the color am trying to use is #FFD400 and it keeps switching it to #FED402. Someone please help am about to pop a blood vessel..

My entire team and myself have recently encountered an issue with fonts - here is an example. I have a file that I saved in January (always running auto updates, by the way). This file uses DM Sans Bold, which is installed on my computer. It is also available via Adobe Fonts, but I have had a copy installed on my machine for at least 2 years.It used to appear in the Character window asFont Family: DM SansFont Style: Bold When opening this file from January, there is no missing font warning, but the type using that font looks incorrect. When I click on the type, the font shows up asFont Family: DMSans 36pt Bold*Font Style: Boldand has the diamond on the far right like a missing font would. No matter if I have the fonts installed or am using the Adobe Fonts version, the font still shows up with the wrong font name and without a warning. In other files, I have experienced fonts just outright changing with no warnings. Working in regulated packaging - this is a scary issue t

Hi all   I recently replaced an internal hard drive with an internal SSD. I cloned the drive using SuperDuper, copying ACLs.   A side effect of this is ever since that replacement, I can no longer save EXSISTING Illustrator files. I have to resort to Save As... each time. I get the -54 error every time I try to save a file. It's getting really annoying.   I thought it might be a drive permissions issue at first and reset all ACLs and permissions, even turned off ownership for that drive. I work primarily in print design so all of my files are saved into my adobe cloud libraries as CMYK Tiffs. When I go to get an asset from my library every tiff is grayed out with the message "This item is not supported in illustrator".  However if I download the file locally to my desktop and then add it to illustrator it goes in no problem... However I work with hundreds of assets regularly, so this is not a very efficient. Does anyone know why my cc library tiffs do not work in adobe illustrator specifically?

I am having trouble importing PDF files with Urdu typing on them and editing them. I have just upgraded my Mac OS to Sonama, which in turn upgraded my Illustrator version to the latest one. Prior to this update, I was able to import Urdu PDFs and edit them.Now, when I try to open a file, the following prompt appears:I have Urdu installed on my computer. How can I allow Illustrator to encode the text as Urdu? 

Hi everyone, I'm experiencing frequent random crashes with Illustrator version 29.6.1 on Windows 11. The app crashes unpredictably — sometimes while saving, sometimes just moving around the interface. There’s no consistent trigger. Here's what I’ve tried so far: Rolled back to earlier builds of 29.x — still crashedFully uninstalled Creative Cloud and Illustrator (including leftover files in %APPDATA% and %LOCALAPPDATA%)Disabled GPU Performance and pluginsCrash report shows EXCEPTION_UNKNOWN (0xc0000409) and errors like std::_Xbad_function_call Specs: Windows 11 Enterprise, Intel Core Ultra 5 135U, Intel(R) Graphics, driver version 32.0.101.6078 However, after rolling back to Illustrator 2024 (v28), everything works fine — no crashes at all. In older versions of AI when I copy and paste art into a file that has a swatch of the same name it would ask me if I wanted to "add or merge swatches".  But now it is just automatically merging them without asking.  I can not find how to turn that dialogue box back on.  Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Estou com problema no Illustrator que não consigo resolver. Já desinstalei o Illustrator, a Creative Cloud, baixei versões anteriores, e nada resolveu; tentei mudar os arquivos UXP para UXO.old; ele não abre o preferências e também alguns botões como traçado e preenchimento. Hello, I can neither create nor open a file.When I want to create or open a file, the toolbar opens but then the Illustrator closes again. The file does not open.I have installed version 29.6.1. Hi,I am trying to acheive the same angle gradient effect that can be done in Photoshop but in Illustrator. The actual thing I want to be able to create as a vector is the graphic attached...Can this be done by somehow using the blend tool and replacing the spline with a circle?  Can someone walk me through the process?Many thanks in advance.Kit

I need to send files of our logo to a third party. They have very precise size and resolution specs for these files. In Illustrator on my Mac, I export a .jpg of our logo to these specs:1200px x 300px @ 300dpi To make sure the size is correct, I open it in Photoshop on Mac and yes, the specs stay the same. When the 3rd party receives the file and checks the specs in "Properties" for the file in Windows (right click icon, select "Properties", select "Details") the specs now read: 1200px x 300px @96dpi They reject the file and tell me the dpi is incorrect. They tell me whatever software they are using will not accept the file because it is out of spec. If I open that file in Photoshop on Windows, it is, of course, 300dpi and correct, but the properties when right clicking the file icon still shows 96dpi. But if I resave that file from Photshop on Windows and then recheck the dpi in Properties (right click icon, select "Properties", select

Can a simple Margin tool be implemented in illustrator, similar to the one that's always existed in InDesign?It's hard to believe it's 2025 and still one needs to follow a long list of hacks like creating rectangles and converting them to guides to have simple margins.I know some will reply "that's not what illustrator is for" but please - Having to go to InDesign after you finish your vector work is an absolute hassle. Sometimes you just want to create a flyer in illustrator because the interface is less clunky and more flexible, as well as you can edit everything and have tons more freedom with typography.Please cut it out with clunky AI nonsense and simply give us Margins!Thank you.

Hi all,I'm not familiar with Illustrator (as I mostly use InDesign and sometimes Photoshop), so I'd be grateful for any help you can offer.I need to create a vector graphic of straight lines radiating out from a single point — 32 lines, evenly spaced at 11.25 degrees.I'm working with Illustrator CS5.  Can anyone suggest an easy, straightforward way to do this, please?I've searched the manual, knowledgebase and community help.  "Radiant" only seems to return references to "gradient".  As always, the art of a search is in knowing what terms to use, but I can't think how else to describe what I'm trying to achieve.Thanks for your help, folks.

I would like this popup have always Leave Strokes setting and not give me popup. It is really annoyin when trying to draw with graphic tablet and some object is selected during brush size change via shortcut. Maybe someone knows some hack in Adobe settings file.

After most recent updates, I noticed that iilustrator has slowed down drasitically in terms of performance. Most noticable in the time it takes to save the file.I had 4  A6 artboards set, each with their own design. It took ilustrattor around 4 seconds to save the file when pressing cmd+s . OS: macOS Sequoia 15.5Illustrator: 29.6.1
