What happened to the knife tool in CC 2019?  It is not with the eraser and scissors tool in the tool bar.

Hi,I am using CS6 and I saved many Artworks. Suddenly when i check the file today I can not open the file. Some file says "the file is damaged and could not be repaired in illustrator" and some says "The file "Profile.ai" is in an unknown format and cannot be opened". I open these files in Illustrator. I tried with some software, Since I don't have the original version , SO I couldn't fix the problem. I have a recurring issue where after a day or so of working on a few open files, Illustrator will not respond to either the key command to create a new file, nor will it open a new file from the drop down menu. All other funtions operating as they should. The issue isn't related to any particuler file. After quitting & repopening all returns to normal... for a while.

Hello,   The last time I used Illustrator, it was the version previous to 2021. I was able to import and export workspaces from the Workspaces menu in that version. Now I've got Illustrator 2021, and I can't find a way to import a workspace from the Workspaces menu or the preferences, and I can't find anything online that says that others have had the same problem. I also tried copying the .exec file of my custom workspace into the folder with the rest of the workspaces, but it seems to be a different file type than the pre-installed ones, and it's not showing up in the Illustrator application.   Does anyone know what might be wrong, or what I can do?

does anyone know where to find plugins or scrips for "make number sequence" for Illustrator 2022?Please advise 

In the application bar towards the right side, you are able to change sizing w x h. If you check it one way if you change the width or height, the constraints remain correct is: change the height of a circle, it changes the width as well. Or you can turn that off and only what you choose changes.   Well mine is not working. If have it set to mainstain the contraint, and I click on Height or Width, it does not stay. is: I have a circle that is 2.456" in dia., I have always been able to change that circle size and it stays round, not anymore, I could change it say 2" and it set to maintain...but it might come out as height or width 1.78" Now the kicker, if I change the setting so I am only changing height or width, and I change one or the other, the other will change as well. As far as I know I have not changed any of my prefernces,  HELP, What am I missing.. Thanks in advance, Gary

I'm working on a drawing and have a tree that I've made that I want to copy around and scale up, down, and rotate. I want to have it be like a parent object so that I can adjust the parent and then the rest change accordingly. I will have dozens of trees in the scene so having them all as separate groups isn't ideal. I have tried making the trees into a symbol, which gives me the parent behavior that I'm looking for, but causes problems when scaling. Even with "Scale Strokes & Effects" turned off for all the objects within the symbol, and for the symbol itself when I select it, the strokes still scale. This creates problems for me when I'm trying to unify linewieghts. I've some screenshots and an example file. All objects inside of the symbol I selected and made sure Scale Strokes & Effects was unchecked, which it was. I'm working on a project and I have some buidlings casting shadows with trees also in those shadows. I have made my trees into a Symbol object so that I can easily edit one and adjust all the rest at one. However, in this situation, the shadows that are overlapping from the building and the tree are double darkening. I tried playing around with the blend modes but nothing seemed to even it out. I saw on this post to use the Shape Builder tool, however, It doesn't seem to work with symbols. If I can avoid it, I would prefer to not "Break Link to Symbol " and manually do it. It works fine, and gets me the results I'm looking for, but to keep the file as light as possible and simple to modify, it's not ideal. Another approach I saw was to just use solid colors with no opacity. This works for most areas except where there are many layers in front of and behind others. Illustrator 29.4 (64-bit), The direct selection tool cannot grab a selection by anchor point after recent updates.  While working with a group of entities (three layer line segments, with identical node count and positioning), I used to be able to select/isolate a group using the Selection Tool (V), once the group was selected/isolated I could switch tools to the Direct Selection Tool (A), then grab a portion of the group and reposition that portion by dragging, using one of the nodes in that selection as a handle.  This was especially handy when repositioning and aligning the node handle with the grid when consistent spacing is required.   I noticed that when this issue happens, it hasn't been consistent; there is no indication that the cursor senses the location of the node I wish to select.  The following images show different cursor responses that have been observed.  The first image shows the icon that indicates node presence, the second image does not.&nb

Esta versión de illustrator es demasiado lenta para trabajar archivos simples. Cualquier ajuste o movimimento de vector tarda al menos 4 segundos en reaccionar, lo cual relentiza mi flujo de trabajo. Funciona como si fuera un archivo pesadísimo. Al regresar a una versión del 2024, funciona muy bien. Pero quiero tener mi aplicativo con las nuevas actualizaciones.  ¿Alguna solución? Este es mi modelo de iMac por si esta información sirve :  

This wasnt happening on the previous version. This only began the minute I updated. I've reset the prefernces and still nothing. I'm on the latest build for Windows 10 Pro, 21H1, OS build 19043.1348, Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.3920.0 Dont even need to have opened a file. Open the app, close the app it freezes.   Only way to close it is Ending the Process through task manager.

unable to insstale illustrator

Illy 29.6.1 (64)Windows 11, up-to-date, 32 Gig RAM, Core i7 3.5, plenty of HD spaceI am working on a job that requires heavy use of guides. Illustrator is making guides dissapear every time the cursor touches them. I use CNTRL+: to bring them back then the when there is a cursor touch, it'as the same thing again. I am working over a holiday weekend to meet a deadline and am at a standsstill.Can someone help?Thanks to those who know more than me,Joe

I've been having this issue on and off for months now, but I can't seem to find any solutions or even anyone else who is having the same problem. My transform scale handles are still visible around the shape, but the rotate handles never appear no matter where I hold my mouse over the shape. I've tried toggling on and off the "Hide Bounding Box" option, but it doesn't help. It works fine for some documents, and doesn't work for others. The only workaround I've found is to right-click > Transform > Rotate, but then I have to know the degree I want to rotate it to, and often I just want to eyeball it! Thanks for your help!

Hi, Suddenly, after the last update, my Illustrator started experiencing a color bug. (and my three colleagues also). I copy and paste an image from one document to another, and then it all gets messed up.original image (these are all screenshots)after paste: if i zoom in (looses color  and gets strange stripes)even more zoom:I'm in a MAC Studio (2025) with the latest version of Illustrator. Working as usual, in CMYK mode.any tip?Thanks!

I have very complex drawing with many shapes within shapes - it ultimately has to be a black and white single/compound path object, but when I make my final compound path, much of the illustration disappears because the paths are not correctly even odd even odd (some compounds have inner paths that are the same direction as the outer). Sorry - having trouble explaining, those familiar with this will know.There are well over 500 paths. Does anyone know a quick way of correcting all the path directions, so there are no nested paths in the same direction and all the counters show up? I can't show the illustration for confidentiality reasons.In the 90s I used vector illustration software called ArtWorks that ran on Acorn RISC PCs* - there was a "correct path direction" menu that would do this.(* as an aside, it's absolutely fascinating that I'm now using a Mac Mini (M4 Pro) with a processor that is a virtual direct line descendant of the processor in these 1990s machines!!)

I am using MacBook Pro 2024 macOS Sequoia 15.5 and iPad Pro (2019) iPadOS 18.5 and Adobe Illustrator 2025. Everything is currently up to date. When I connect my iPad to my MacBook via sidecar, everything works with Touch Bar showing, except the Apple Pencil tracks 1cm or so below where I place the tip of the pencil. When I disable Touch Bar, the pencil issue is resolved but then Illustrator disappears from my iPad screen. All I can see is the MacBook desktop and Finder/File/Edit/View etc bar along the top and the side bar on the side. When I click "show Touch Bar" the illustrator window appears again on my iPad screen. Has anyone had this issue and what is the solution? I'm thinking it may be a Mac issue and not Adobe since other app windows also disappear but figured I'd start here. I'm posting a little video where you can see how the iPad screen blanks out to the MacBook desktop when I select hide Touch Bar, and it reappears when I select show Touch Bar. 

Can anyone tell me how to remove a clipping mast that I didn't know I applied? TIA

Hi, I design 3D jerseys building the .psd file with smart objects. I then have to build out the jerseys with apparel shapes on an .ai art board for each size.  Each size must be sized up as they increase from Small to 4XL. I am looking for an expert to create a script and/or ation that will do the scaling based on preset parameters and clipping mask the shapes in the same script/action. Would love to find the right person to help me with this project.Thanks!

Hi all I am trying to install illustrator 2019 or 2020 on my mac os mojave version 10.14.6 but creative cloud is not letting me install illustrator version older than 2024 since I have to upgrade my mac os(which I cannot right now) due to this creative cloud is showing the entire illustrator as incompatible...so can someone help me to find and install this exact illustrator version  (2020 or 2019) because I don't want to upgrade my os since it takes too much space and will not be efficient for me..thanks

Suddenly the hand-tool (hand) is turned on and stuck. I pressed the space bar many times, but issue do not let go. Switching to other instruments does not work, but menus and hotkeys do. This behavior in Al, ID, I even installed the AI beta, everything is the same.
