For the past few months my indesign has been virtually unusable due to a persistent glitch. See attached video This black flashing appears anytime I try to move or alter an object on an indesign object, as well as on illustrator. It doesn't happen so much on photoshop. I can run rendering software like blender and fusion completely fine. I desperately need help as I have a deadline soon and have been using figma rather unsuccessfully since the glitch started.

HiI have a 300 pages long document.Currently the textframe in the page is using full margins.I want to reduce the width (from left) of the textframes residing on the even side by 30mm and apply an object style of EVENFRAMEand the textframes residing on the odd side by 20mm (from right) and apply object style of ODDFRAME.A sample has been done in page 2 and 3. IDML File attached.Is there a way to achieve this using InDesign ? Does anyone have a script ?Another hurdle is that most of the pages contains tables.I need tables width to be the same size of the final textframe.Thanks

I have an ID document where the content (copy) is fed from Excel via a placed link. The issue I'm having is that the bulleted copy aligns with the bullet point, even when the copy goes to two lines, rather than aligning neatly with the first line of copy.  The attached screenshot shows how messy the bullet points look now. I have tried adjusting the paragraph styles, but I'm unsure if there is a rule to indent second and subsequent lines of copy in a paragraph. 

I often accidentally invoke Content Collector by hitting B on keyboard. I tried to disable the shortcut using edit keyboard shortcuts but could not locate the shortcut to turn it off.Could anyone help with locating this tool in the edit shortcuts window? It doesn't appear under the Tools dropdown. There may be another solution I haven't considered but it isn't a serious problem - just a time waster.ThanksE French

I have a document right now that is acting like I have turned off the hyphenation, but I didn't. It doesn't seem to matter what I do with tracking, justification settings, hyphenation settings, etc., the only hyphens in the document are the discretionary hyphens I put in. And it won't hyphenate even with discretionary hyphens if it is the second or third to last word in a paragraph, even though I unchecked last word setting in the paragraph style hyphenation. I am using styles. I also double checked, and the language is listed as English. I can create new documents from scratch and they respond to my hyphenation changes with automatic hyphenation, just not this one. Any ideas?

I want to export a book document in InDesign to PDF. It consists of 7 book parts, but I keep getting an error message saying that the PDF cannot be generated. I also combined the 7 book sections into one file, but I get the same error message. The possible cause of the error seems to be located on the spread with page number 369. Using the "Package" and "Preflight" tools, no errors are detected. Exporting the PDF from the individual book file works fine. I have checked all images and gradients but cannot find any issues. Despite repeated export attempts, I keep encountering the same error. The export process appears to complete successfully, but as soon as it finishes, an error message appears, and no PDF is generated. How do I solve this? 

Hello, my OS Mac Catalina. I want to install InDesign 18.5 but i can't find in the Creative Cloud. I kindly request your help.

My Package dialog has increased in width size to over 14" wide while all parameter appear on the left side of the dialog. Appreciate any suggestions as to the cause and possible solution to have dialog return to a normal dimension.

Hi, everyone!I am a beginner in the scripting world and, as I try to study and understand JavaScript, I analyze existing scripts and work a lot with cutting, pasting, and rewriting things.Recently I put together a functional script to change the color, weight and style of the inner horizontal lines of selected cells of a table. It worked pretty well, but I would like to check if there is more than one cell selected before run the script and I couldn't find a way to do this...Whenever I try to capture the number of selected cells, the script always returns the value "1", regardless of the quantity. Is there a way to change this behavior? I haven't been able to find any information about it so far, which is why I'm starting my participation here in the community.  🙂 Ps: if I try to change the (selectedCells.length != 0) to (selectedCells.length > 1), it just goes to the second-to-last "else" block.The code in question is right below.Thank you in a

Hi, I was informed by the print company that I should use PSO Uncoated v3 (FOGRA52). I went through all of the steps to download it, but when I select it in InDesign I get this error. Why is this happening and is there a way to fix it or a workaround.   Thank you very much!

Hello,InDesign stopped opening a project after the last update. The file is a small book 40 pages, around 115 mb.i tried to reset the indesign preferences but this issue continue exist. Any idea, what can i do further?Thnak you in advance!

I've seen various forms of this question in the forums, but they seem to remain unanswered. I hope someone can help.I have a contract document which will change each time I use it, with the result that the total number of pages may change. I have a footer that says "Page x of xx pages", but I have to fill in the total number of pages manually. That gets pretty clunky when I'm working with a large document!Is there a script that will fill that in for me on each footer?Thanks!

Greetings: I have a ton of placed images in documents. I happily utilized a quick way to relink to insert images, etc., with InDesign where a little box or tab appeared below when clicked on image.Somehow, I hid it - to my chagrin. Any suggestions on where to find it?Thank you! 

Hi, When I open the inDesign app i get an error message that says... "Some files required for colour management are missing. Please re-install the application to ensure proper functioning" I've tried uninstalling and re-installing several times and I've tried the Creative Cloud cleaner tool but still the message pops up. I'm fairly new to InDesign so not entirely sure as to how it should behave, however when I create elements (text or shapes) and go to change the colour, I have no colour swatches. I have to use the mixer to get the colour I want. I'm guessing this is due to the colour management files that are missing. I'm using Windows 10 and the latest version (16.4) of Indesign however I have also tried installing and trying an earlier version (16.1) and still have the same issues. Can anyone help please? Thanks

I'm looking for a simple plug-in - a real plug-in - not UXP or fake script as it won't work anyway - plug-in that will store current mouse location (x, y) and geometric bounds of the selection (t, l, b, r) - as an extra application / document property or as a label to be extracted? And It should be refreshed at least 50 times per second.    Right now, mouse's current location - or object's top left corner when you move object or width / height when selected object is resized - is dynamically shown in the toolbar at the top - but it can't be read through scripting until mouse button is released.   

Saal Digital offers templates to use in Indesign.  When you double click on the template in Saal, it goes directly to Photoshop in File Viewer. Is this correct?  How do I get it to Indesign? From what I remember from working on Mac for many years, in InDesign there was an option to call up smart lines with the ctrl key only for a moment, you didn't have to have them on permanently. Now we've moved to Windows and it doesn't work here. Is there a way to turn it on, or is it simply not available in the Windows version of ID? If not, maybe it's worth giving the user such an option somewhere in the options.     <Title renamed by MOD>

Please can someone help me out. I am so fraustrated. I have designed one indesign document with individual pages all with different people and information. (Doc A)I have another indesign doc (Doc B) where I have placed Doc A - and laid 6 up on 1 page all in a specific order. So the artwork is linked. When I make changes to doc A - I expect the changes to filter through to Doc B and keep the correct order of the pages/people. But when I relink - the pages (doc a) change order and mess everything up in Doc B. Not too sure why this is happening? Is there a way to keep the links linking to the same pages - but update artwork.

Can anyone confirm they get the same behaviour? And if you're in the know, could someone explain to me how something so unambiguous as 4 geometric points is being interpreted so strangely?

I want the script to read the value on the filename as the actual setting for the script to run.For example, I have a piece of code. It is used to change the table row height (denoted by bh). I need to create a GREP style for a price with a word that I want nested under the superscript cents.For example, my price is $9.99 EACH. My dollar sign and 99(cents) are superscripted. I want to tuck the EACH underneath the 99 cents. I can't find a way to do this. See below. Please advise! Thank.

This Script is use to convert first row to header, the last row to footer, it delete my content.Sorry, The original post seemed to be posted by me. I have been using CS4 for 12 years on an old 17" Macbook pro that hasn't been online in 9 years so apple can't update the OS. Worked great, however, in order to take in new features I just bought a new iMac running Monterey 12.1. Do you know how to remove fonts from Mac OS or Adobe? I have 390 fonts, over 300 are foreign language. Its brutally inefficient navigating the menus. Its completely an apple issue (I spoke with them and Monerey does not allow removal of fonts by design). This is simply a nightmare. Fonts are not displayed even alphabetically, they are categorized bizarrely. Apple really screwed this one up. Is there a setting in Adobe products that only allows certain fonts to be displayed when using. I primarily use Indesign, but use Illustrator and Photoshop as well?Even better if you know how to delete out of Monterey. I see some of your other Terminal commands, but not sure inf any pertains to my issue. I would dump 337 fonts out of Apples font book I will never
