Hello,I have two issues with my merged help.I've gotten everything to merge but now RH is stripping out the custom CSS file in the child projects in the generate folder. As a result, when I view the child help, the custom graphics are missing and the text styling is missing. I can add the CSS file back into the child project in the generate folder but that is a maintenance nightmare. Should I use an absolute path to the stylesheet and where should the stylesheet reside? Fixed. Needed to click Apply to All Topics in the WebHelp Settings>Content Categories>Content<Default> options.The child topics have a Show link at the top left. It is not a breadcrumb. When I click the link it displays the entire child help system in the content window with the current topic active. RH is inserting some JavaScript into the body. Just a quick general comment/question and I must emphasize that I don't mean any disrespect whatsoever. I just wanna share a particular (and recurrinng) pain point. Ever since upgrading from RH 11 to RH 2015 we've been experiencing awful lag issues. Everything from opening topics to typing has a second or two lag which is unbearable after a while, and is costing us valuable man hours.I contacted Adobe customer support. The representative took over my computer and tried to fix the issue himself. He couldn't. He said it was an issue with my project, but couldn't tell me what the issue actually was. There were no such lag issues in RH11, so I'm wondering how this can be the fault of my project and not of RH 2015.I've seen other discussion posts about RH 2015 lag issues, but the only response I've seen to those is to run the project locally on your machine. I am doing this and I still get the lag issues constantly. I've never seen Robohelp Server, nor have I played a user on TV (sorry, Friday brain already).I'm currently evaluating knowledge base options for a client, including using Robohelp output, with or without Robohelp Server. (If you're so inclined, see my other related post in the Robohelp HTML forum, Considering RH instead of a knowledge base tool, would love any other perspectives on those questions.)One of my client's main criteria is for multiple versions of content. They are hoping for a KB solution that allows them to pass a URL that identifies the version of the software in use, and serve up the appropriate help. A current engagement is to move a client's documentation to a knowledge base type solution, and we have been asked to identify and evaluate possible tools.They showed an example of a site they liked so we could discuss what they like about it--pretty standard stuff.They only want one or two people to be able to author the content, so a wiki is not needed. They thought they needed a KB because they thought, based on how their ancient help looks, that RH was only capable of screen/reference-based help (and they'd need a different tool to do task-based help!).Their copy of RH is too far out-of-date for upgrade pricing but I think it may still be a worthwhile option for project mgmt. and because a nice-to-have is responsive design which I'm not sure the KB tools offer (haven't gotten that far with them yet). RH Version: 2015 (build 12.0.3.428)OS: Windows 10, x64So, I know when you merge a chm into another chm, it adds a link in the Contents tab if that chm resides in the same folder.For example, here we're merging an Inform.chm into our Inspect.chm help. Inform.chm is tied to a plugin type component in our application and isn't always installed on every users system.If the chms are in the same folder, like this:Then in the chm, it adds in the tab:This is great, but Is there a way to do the same thing with text and links in an htm page? I want to conditionally add the text "Inform tab" between the "Measure tab" and "Report tab" text so to the user it appears seamlessly in the list of links:  Has anyone done something like this? I recently added a font awesome icon script to my project's master page. All topics within the project have the same master page. Is there a way, however, to add the script to the master page itself and then have it update automatically across all of those topics? Currently I have to manually add the script into each EXISTING topic, but any NEW topic automatically has the script built in.Any ideas community?

I am using Robohelp 2015. My requirement is to merge the responsive outputs of different projects into one master project. The child projects are getting merged into master project, but the individual child's filters are not working in the master project as expected.

Hi,I've read through Peter's merged help information and I understand it but I have a few more questions and possibly a request.Background: I have eight help systems, two for each engineering discipline (config and user). The discipline files have a custom CSS but the only difference is different heading graphics and one other graphic. I could and probably should put all of that in a single CSS but and I can do that. Some information needs to be available to other disciplines such as mechanical symbols need to be available to Instrumentation and Electrical. Here are my questions.Is it possible to use an include to programmatically add a help system by linking to the index file? If not an include, maybe a javascript? I couldn't write one but I might be able to find one and modify it. Feel free to point me in a direction.Has anyone found something other than merged files?I don't have anyone here I can bounce thoughts and ideas off of because I'm the only one with RH experience. We've been using the method described by Peter Grainge (at the link below) for many years for calling the webhelp to a specific topic within the tri-pane window (with navigation pane and toolbar visible): http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/calling_webhelp/using_urls.htmBasically, calling the help using this method:startpage?#path/topic1.htmThis week we updated to the latest RoboHelp 2015 version (12.0.4.460) and now this method no longer works. We get the tri-pane window but the right pane shows the startpage instead of the required topic. The help links in the application haven't changed. This is a major issue for us because we have these links throughout our application and we need the right help to show, not the startpage. Not sure if other users that have used Peter's method are seeing this same issue since the update.  Any known fix for this?Thanks!!

Is the merged help information on your web site still good for RoboHelp 2015 even though the directions are written for RH 8? Ginger

Hi,We have a number of developers using Robohelp with version control deployed on Sharepoint. It works fine for updating existing pages, but when we create a new page and check it in,it doesn't appeared on other users' versions of RoboHelp when they get the latest version. Hello,I am working on Robohelp projects that I haven't worked on for a year. They used to work fine. I generated the files, but when I click View Output, Robohelp 9 tries to open and then rejects the file.I have tried several things - working locally, deleted the cpd, deleting the rhfonts (got errors regarding these at some point). uninstalling and installing RH 11, going back to RH 9.I am using Windows 7 Enerprise/64 bit. Robohelp is 11.0.0.179.Any help would be appreciated!

I am using RoboHelp for Word 11. When a search is done, the topic title (bold) and subsequent text (a certain number of characters from topic content) display in search results. In the example below (from an application in production), spaces appear randomly within words in the search results display area. The spaces are not present in the actual  topics. I have not found this issue in other application’s online help search results that I maintain with RoboHelp. Regards, Jackie

We are using snippets for multiple uses in several topic pages - that means: one snippet is used in one or more topic pages.Now we have the following use case:the users of the help file want to know in which topic pages the snippet will be used. So, is it possible to make a topic page for the snippet with an overview of all topic pages where the snippet is used in? Within the properties of a snippet you have the tab "used in" - is it possible to provide this  information within a topic page?Thanks!

GreetingsUsing RoboHelp HTML V10, I have always output to WebHelp, and stay with the default skin which provides a white page background and light blue icons. This looks fine for my use. I now need to export to HTML5. I still use the default skin, but the page background is pumpkin, which does not look right for my use. The default skin has the earlier settings, and I can't find where to get these settings applied to the HTML5 output. Same content output to WebHelp looks like it always have, so I don't know where it is picking the background setting from.On individual pages I can access Format >> Borders and Shading, but it says each page is shaded transparently. I am sure I am doing something wrong but the online help isn't helpful.Any help? My goodness the HTML5 output is ugly!Thanks in advance,Karl

INQUIRY: Creating an e-Learning module just using Rh Application Help (CHM file - installed locally) SSL and just using Rh 11 and with no dependencies (i.e. Rather than importing a swf  file created byCaptivate 7 files, and published to an external URL). Yes old school thinking perhaps, but I am looking for alternatives.HISTORY: I am using Rh 11 (Technical Communication Suite). We’ve developed Captivate video tutorials which integrate with our Rh video tutorial project, and then published to an URL. These videos are only accessible via a URL from a Web Help browser. MY QUESTION:  Is there a way to create a slide presentation using Rh alone (with no external dependencies like our Captivate videos)?  WHAT I ENVISION: For example, does Rh have a PowerPoint functionality or a slide deck mechanism that I can use. I have an item in my ToC which is a URL to an external site. When I click the link, it always opens it in a new browser tab. I want to open it in the same frame as the help.I created the ToC page by clicking "new ToC page", and then "Link to: Web address". I've tried changing the Frame option on the advanced tab, but no matter which Frame option it is set too, it always opens in a new tab.I can produce the output in Webhelp and the same ToC works fine as expected, it's only with Responsive HTML5 output I have the issue with. I've tested this in Firefox and Chrome, and same behaviour in both.

Hello everyone,I'm getting ready to publish and am assigning MapIDs.  In one of my projects, all of the MapIDs from the master project have been copied in to the project BSSCDefault.  None of the actual pages in the project are assigned to MapIDs.  To remove the extraneous MapIDs, I'd like to delete the BsscDefault file from the project.  If I delete this file, will RoboHelp automatically recreate it?For context, I'm in Robohelp 2015.Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi guys, I recently (about 2 months ago) started working with RoboHelp 2015 V12.0.2.384.  I was employed as a Technical Document Writer and RoboHelp was given to me to use.  So far, so good.  I love working with RoboHelp (bar a few tiny issues) and I love learning as I go along.  Usually I can figure stuff out using online HTML code to fix what I need to do (like creating tabs), but this one issue has me stumped.  Here is the breakdown:I'm making tables to summarize related data.  Now the tables are customized obviously to comply with company fonts and colors, but here I have an issue with an option I can't seem to change.Placing a table allows me to change the font, font size and font color.  It also allows me to change the background colors of individual cells, which is working perfectly.  However, placing a table on a colored background gives the table two large white margins on either side which looks crap.  Is there a way I can fix this

Currently Using RoboHelp 11.0.4.291. Want to upgrade to 2015, but must use the free trial first (company policy). I have always been allowed to upgrade previous versions before the trial period ended, so I never found out what happened. Does RoboHelp revert back to RoboHelp 11 or am I forced to upgrade to 2015? I must ask because I can only recommend purchase, not make the actual purchase.
