Hi, I've been using RoboHelp Server 10 for a few months already and everything was working fine until I decided to apply LDAP connections. Needless to say that when I tested it to 1 context, it didn't work and when I logged in to the admin panel it started showing me this (see below picture) which is odd since everything worked seamlessly before. After which I decided to just delete the affected context but somehow, when I logged in to the other contexts on the same server, the above issue was also present (which I don't know how that became possible since it's 2 different contexts). I only found 1 instance of this in this forum but somehow when I tried the solution to change the reindex properties of all my contexts, it still didn't resolve the issue. Since I was already hopeless, I tried to re-install RoboHelp Server 10 and despite the clean slate, the same issue still persists which begs me to question, do Adobe still save some memory settings at the back end despite uninstalling th
RH 2017 (13.02.334) with Windows 10So for a few months now, I've had an issue with the index not filtering correctly in our merged HTML5 help system. Through much trial and error, and through no small amount of effort, I'm sure, on Peter Grainge's part (Thank YOU Peter!), we found what was causing the problem.Problem:When unfiltered, all entries would be there as expected. When filtered, some entries would be excluded as expected, but others that should have been excluded weren't.Cause:We discovered that bolded index entries--entries that aren't linked--will show up in the index with their sub-entries visible, even if the topics for those sub-entries are marked with a topic-level filter that you're excluding. For example, on this test index, Index 1 does get excluded when I am excluding the f_help_qdasconfigurator filter. But Index entries 2 and 3 still show up, even through their topics are marked with the same f_help_qdasconfigurator topic-level filter. There are two solutions:Solution
We have a very complex Robohelp Classic project that uses a lot of different filter criteria. It's possible for Users to select combinations of criteria that do not make sense. While we try to account for that, it would be easier to offer selections for the correct criteria on the topic pages. Is it possible to place the filter criteria checkboxes or radio buttons directly into a topic so that Users can select them in topic instead of navigating the filter tab?
Hi,We have a set of applications for our documentation, each application has its own Microsoft Word file. When import the first file we used "Split on Heading1" option to split the file, then we created a TOC on RoboHelp and linked it to the proper files. When we imported the second file we found it has some Heading with same text as imported from the first file so it overwrites the first one, and the TOC links we created is pointing to the second file instead. As a workaround we tried to import all the word files at once, RoboHelp give each one a unique name (Heading1.html, Heading11.html, ...) and we were able to link them to TOC, but we found that the internal links in the same word file is no longer working, i think that RoboHelp changes the html file names to be unique but it does not update the internal links to point to these files. What we should do in case we have the same Heading in multiple files? Please Help?
Hi all,we use Robohelp 2015 to generate uncompressed Javahelp 2.0.When you use the full text search, the help viewer displays the found topics and tries to highlight the searched term. However, the highlights are bugged and do not match the searched term. It seems there is a problem with the generation of the search data base.Is there any way to fix this?
Can I add page numbers in RH 2019? I searched past posts and cannot find a solution to adding page numbers to master pages. It give an option on top of the horizontal menu choices, but the pagination does not show when generating a PDF, per my supervisor's request.
Hi all,Got a weird one. Couldn't find anything on the forums regarding this issue. When I drill down the TOC in my Responsive HTML5 output in Chrome, the third-level down TOC items appear blurry. Happens across several machines. Seems to be related to Chrome only, as I see no visual issues in FireFox. RH and Chrome are both up-to-date.At browser view 100%At browser view 125%, it looks like the blurriness gets inverted: those three topics are now clear, while surrounding topics look slightly less clear.Has anyone seen or heard of this? Thank you! Joe C.
I've recently published a merged project to the RoboServer and noticed that the results only show baggage files (e.g., PDFs, Excel sheets) but not topics (i.e., HTM files). The search works fine locally. The help is using the Responsive Layout format (Indigo layout). I've published another non-merged project, also using responsive help and the same layout, to the same server and the search works correctly on the server. Does the server search engine not index merged content? We are using RoboHelp 2019 (Classic) v14.0.7.004 and RoboSever v10.0.1.237Thanks,
I am working with a 2000 page FrameMaker Manual. For screen shots I have a caption right under the screen shot that says the name of the window. However in the Robohelp output a space has been added after every image and the caption doesn't look like its a caption for the screen shot anymore. I cannot go through every page and fix it. So can you tell me how to map it correctly or what to do in frame to ensure that there is not an added space. I have attached a few examples: 1. a screen of the Frame file, 2. a screen of the RoboHelp project, 3. the html and 4. what the final output looks like. And this is what the final output looks like:
We are using RoboHelp 2017 (with upgrades) and a Responsive HTML5 output and layout (Charcoal Grey). We just noticed that some help topics displayed in Chrome have text that is appearing with symbols instead of quotation marks - only when the quotes are "curly quotes". I strongly suspect that this issue occurred when text was copied from Word documents (though we do try to avoid doing that). So the result is that the HTML5 cannot resolve the "curly quotes", but can of course resolve the text when the &quot. tag surrounds the text. This issue does not occur in our old WebHelp format, or in IE 11. But now that application to which the help is attached is now available more in Chrome browsers, so we are correcting any Chrome issues we find. Here's what this issue looks like (sorry if this example is small):Here's what the HTML is for the text. You can see the quotation marks vs the &quot. tag.A related issue, which also puts in symbols in Chrome, is a word w
RoboHelp 2017, all updates installed.Created multiple hyperlink styles, specifically for drop-down hotspots, so I could generate output similar to this:This project also uses conditional build tags, so we can generate public and private content. When I generate the public version (exclude proprietary and confidential info using CBTs), the drop-down links no longer work. All the links work if I don't exclude any content. Note that while the styles in the example image above take advantage of the Twisties option, I left those out when troubleshooting (and in the repro steps below) and the issues still existed.Steps to ReproduceCreate new RoboHelp project (I did this after discovering the issue in an existing project to help eliminate other potential failure points/causes - from my CSS, etc.).Edit/open "First Topic" in the project.Create new conditional build tag called "confidential".Duplicate existing "Drop-down hotspot" hyperlink style in default.css and name it "copyofdropspot".Select
Hi All,I am looking to explore the review/approve functionality in RH 2019. How does it work? Do we need SharePoint? Also, can we do track changes and send for approval and receive approval in RH? How does the notification work?Note: The reviewers/approvers will not have RH.Appreciate any response. Thanks,Priya Bharatia
Hi all,Over the past six months I have created some small online help for four different projects.I am planning to roll out a support site later this year and was wondering if, and how I can merge all of these projects to make one master project, so our users can go to it and self-help. It would be beneficial if users can go to this site and search for all of the available help in one place, which is Responsive HTML output. My current support projects currently published independently on different urls. It would be ideal to combine them together to make a super support site. All the while, also keeping them independent (when required) to control publishing for both online and printed manuals. I still would like to keep RoboHelp as the single source of truth and reuse content regularly.I would love to use RoboHelp to create and control all of the content on this site, including demo videos etc.Any tips, tricks and feedback is appreciated.Has anyone used RoboHelp for such a requirement an
I have an empty remote repository set up on Github (with a public RSA key associated with my account), a locally-saved project (just upgraded, ~1200 topics), a Connection Profile with the matching private key, and none of the problems listed here. Unless Rh secretly uses sudo? So, why does Robohelp throw this error and become unresponsive whenever I try to Add Project to the profile/remote repo? (I've followed these instructions, though given it's not working yet I could have followed them incorrectly!)
Is there a way to exclude meta tags, such as this, from the generated output? <meta name="generator" content="Adobe Framemaker 2017" /> I'm created Responsive HTML and lots of junk tags are added. Any way to delete these at source rather than do a find and replace. Thanks.
I'm using RH 2017 on Windows 10 (build 13.02.334)The charcoal_gray layout at least (and therefore our layout based off of charcoal_gray) has a problem with the link box for the Previous button not overlaying the button properly when you size down the window. If the Window is maximized, the link box is directly over the button as expected. But if you size the window down for something matching smaller screen devices (but not phone size), where the buttons change to the larger prev / next buttons, you can't click directly on the Previous button. (For me, this is if my browser width is between 970 pixels - 1290 pixels.)The actual link is offset to the right of the button image, here in charcoal_gray:If I move my pointer over the button image, there's no link:Is this something I can fix manually? I'm guessing there's some kind of scripting issue where it's not detecting the button location properly.I filed this bug: https://tracker.adobe.com/#/view/RH-4682
Hi, In my RoboHelp Project, few unnecessary files are created. The sample of files names is attached. Please let me me know if these are at all required. If not, what should I do?Regards,Prashant
RoboHelp 9.0.0.228/Server 9WebHelp ProSingle Project (upgraded from RH x5 to RH9)The mini TOC seems to work in some, but not all topics. In the topics where it is not working, the mini TOC placeholder appears in the Design veiw, but when the topic is viewed (eye glasses icon) or the entire project is generated and viewed, the mini TOC is not there.Any ideas why not?Thank you,Eva
Not sure where I'm going wrong here.Recently upgraded RH 2017 projects to the new 2019. The 2017 project had css with OL, UL, and LI styles set up. Example CSS is below. This has copied over to my new 2019 project OK in the CSS. But when applying these styles it is not applying the CSS in the same way in 2019 and as such my styles are not formatted. I've tried to create new styles in RH2019 but there is a li-rad_normal style being applied which just does not exist in my style sheet. But I can't understand why this is being applied at all.Any ideas?2017 CSS and 2019 CSS for respective styles. Both exactly the same.OL {margin-top: 0px;margin-bottom: 0px;}UL {margin-top: 0px;margin-bottom: 0px;}li.Number {font-family: Calibri;font-size: 11pt;list-style: decimal;line-height: Normal;margin-bottom: 6px;margin-top: 6px;}p.Rad_Normal {margin-bottom: 0pt;line-height: Normal;text-align: justify;}li.Bullet {list-style: disc;font-family: Calibri;font-size: 11pt;}Example HTML from 2017 project where
!Hi there expertsWhen I generate an HTML5 output from my project (Migrated from RH 2017, Currently running R 2019.0.7, Migration was done on RH 2019.0.5) I noticed that not all my files are being exported to the output folder.I use the onclick event in my pages as n have multiple tabs on a page. The initial first page will be displayed without any problems, but as soon as I select any of the other tabs / onclick events I receive a make sure the web address //ieframe.dll/dnserrordiagoff.htm# is correct , I then selected the page properties to see if the link is actually correct, the path to the page is correct, but the page dos not exist in the folder.A typical layout would be test_c.htm and In test_c.htm I will use the onclick event to link to test_p.htm and test_r.htm to open them.Any Help would be appreciated
I've converted my RH17 project to RH19.The mini TOC doesn't seem to work in 19. Is this something that Adobe is still working on?There doesn't seem to be an option to collapse, selecting "Show TOC in expanded form" doesn't do anythingWhy are the entries truncated? Is there another way I can manage the mini-toc?I've included screenshots.
Hello! I am a longtime user of RoboHelp (since 2000) and am embarrassed to admit that I am really struggling with the new RH 2019 redesign in a number of areas.Today, I wanted to output to Word (which I knew was removed as an output), so I decided to try to output to PDF and then convert it to Word. When I generate PDF as an output, I did not see any setting about maintaining links. My generated PDF shows the links embedded in my topics (they are blue and underlined in the PDF), but they do not work. Am I missing a setting somewhere? Also, I thought I saw in one of the RoboHelp Reimagined videos that RH 2019 could output to ODF, but I cannot find that in the software (and can't find the darn video again!). That may be a better way for me to get to Word.If you are wondering why I want a Word output, it is because in addition to generating multiple HTML5 outputs using conditional build tags/build expressions for many audiences, I also output a Word document for each audience/product
We continue to evaluate the RoboHelp 2019. We currently use RoboHelp 2017 and occasionally RH 2011 (don't ask).We will need to work on certain projects in RoboHelp 2017 even if we upgrade. Can our older projects continue in RoboHelp 2017?I emailed the Adobe accounts development manager with this question and he said "Adobe Licensing Policy does not allow you to access the older versions."I don't know if I agree. I sense that if I open the old project in RoboHelp 2019, yes, I cannot revert back to the older version. But I do believe that multiple versions can coexist as long as I do not open a legacy project in RH2019.Can anyone let me know what their experience has been after upgrading?
Hi,I'm using RH 2019 Classic to edit merged CHM files. They have a lot of field level help "popup" topics that I don't want to include in the search as they don't contain useful information if viewed out of context. These are one line mini topics with no header or footer, just text that is shown when the user clicks on a field in the end product. However, when I set the individual topics to "Exclude topic from search" in the Topic Properties, they still show in the search after compilation. Is there something I'm missing? I need them to be in the CHM they are in now, just not visible in search. I can't put them into another CHM as this product is over 30 years old, and no-one wants to do the work to move them I just want RH to do what is says it's doing. As you can see, the topic is shown in the search results. (I'm aware the topic title is Deactivate, but Activate is the actual topic content. Don't ask, I didn't write it!)Thanks,Nicola
I have project that has a large number of unused files. Since there is only the ability to view them in RoboHelp, I was wondering if anyone found a better way to delete them other than selecting and deleting them piecemeal in Windows Explorer? Thanks for any suggestions!
