I've run into an issue with RH2017 where the text output does not match the source. As an example,in the source I've got section headings in Tahoma and the body text in Segoe UI, yet in seemingly random instances, the Responsive HTML5 output text is random in size and font style (Arial, New Times Roman, Calibri, etc.)In some cases I've been able to go in and change the applied style to (none) and then reapply the intended font style and the output is fixed. This hasn't worked in all cases and yet I still don't see why the output style could be different from what is in the source content. Anyone have any ideas? Examples below:Robohelp Source:"Protocol Tab" is Tahoma; SIP Settings description is SegoeUI.Responsive HTML5 Output:"Protocol Tab" appears to be New Times Roman; SIP Settings description is Calibri.
Hi there,I've got a help system with a parent project and 25 child projects. Where do I create a glossary for all of the projects?I have created a glossary in the parent project but it doesn't show in my published help.Every hint is welcome!Regards,WernerI'm working with RoboHelp 2015 (12.0.4.460)and Windows Version 10.0.17763 Build 17763
Just thought I would check in to see if in RH 2015 you can copy a project folder from one project to another. I was able to use the resource manager to move a topic into another project but not the entire folder.
I have a new server I am publishing my KB's to. All the KBs are viewable, but the search function does not work.It still points to the old server. How do I update that? I haven't been able to find a way to do this. Thanks as always!
In RoboHelp 2017, the Multiscreen HTML5 output type provides a Use Lowercase File Names (Recommended for UNIX) option. This works great. However, the Responsive HTML5 output type does not include this option. Why doesn't the Responsive HTML5 output type include this option? Is there an update that adds this option to the Responsive HTML5 output type? How are RoboHelp 2017 users supposed to generate Responsive HTML5 output that is UNIX-compatible? Does RoboHelp 2019 Classic support this option for Responsive HTML5 output?Does RoboHelp 2019 support this option for Responsive HTML5 output? If RoboHelp 2019 doesn't support it, how are users supposed to generate Responsive HTML5 output that is UNIX-compatible?
Hello, I am dealing with the following issue: In the RoboHelp 2015 project I am working with, there's a conditional build tag expression designed to "hide" images for 508-compliant Output. Today, when I generated 508-compliant output, there's large white spaces appearing where the images are in standard output (see below screenshot). I checked the code, and I don't see an issue as far as I can tell, and this issue normally doesn't come up. has anyone dealt with such issue before? I don't spot a similar conversation thread in this forum, but perhaps I didn't see it...
RH 2017 latest buildIn our HTML5 responsive output we have very large merged help system with thousands of topics. We use a footer at the bottom of each help file that is stored in a snippet. That snippet is then referenced from the footer section of the .htt file so that any topic that uses the .htt file gets that footer. The problem is that if a search term is something in that footer, it picks up ALL the topics. Is it possible to limit the Search feature to only search in the body of our help topics and to exclude text located in the header and footer regions of the .htt? That would get around this problem I think. If not, are there other ways you can think of to get around this issue?
Greetings all, So, I have a project which includes multiple topics. Some topics include multiple drop-downs, and the project is published to HTML5 using the responsive layout. When viewing the published content on an Android device, the content is displayed perfectly and the drop-downs function as expected. However, on an iOS device, when you expand a drop-down, the screen jumps to the top of the page and you can't scroll down to view the expanded content. I get the same result when testing the drop-downs in the Employee Care sample project (Employee Care - HR Polices and Procedures - Dependants Leave).Steps to Reproduce:1. Open the Employee Care sample project2. Publish responsive HTML53. Access published content via iOS device4. Navigate to HR Polices and Procedures - Dependants Leave5. Expand the first drop down6. Scroll down to the second drop-down and expandAs far as I can tell, this is a bug in the HTML5 Responsive layout, and I have logged a bug for it.So, my question is ... does
Okay, the background. I'm currently using RoboHelp HTML 11.0.3.268, with the latest updates as I write this, having updated from RoboHelp HTML 9. (I know that people will ask, and I understand, so I'm stating as much information up front to ensure that nobody has any questions of their own.) My main RoboHelp project is broken down into eight separate subprojects, with an output of CHM and WebHelp HTML files. In addition, my supervisor had an issue with viewing the new RoboHelp 11-generated HTML files in Google Chrome, so I found and added the RH11 files recommended by RoboHelp Help (WebHelp issues in RoboHelp versions 10 and 11). Immediately after doing this, though, I cannot generate WebHelp files. As soon as I select between any of the WebHelp Settings menu, a popup appears that reads "Invalid media. Cannot create file", followed with the directory path of the project's main .htm page. Short of reinstalling RoboHelp HTML, what options do I have to be able to generate a valid set
I have about 50 tables in MS Excel. Each table has 20 rows and 4 columns approximately. For single-sourcing it makes sense to use RH as this information will be available in the help output. How safe and recommended is it to copy-paste from MS Excel 2016 directly to RH topic? I can manually apply the table style to the copied and pasted table. But will it create any problems in the output or any other known issue with this approach?
Hi. Is there any way to increase the font size of the text in the RoboHelp (11) UI itself, that is, for example, the items that appear in the Project manager, Topic List, Single Source Layouts, and other panels?I have my monitor set to optimal resolution, but this seems to cause this text to be too small for comfort. Is there a way to increase the font size from within RH? If not, is there a Windows-level change I can make? Thanks!
We're working in RH2017 using the Responsive HTML5 output. We would like to have the TOC pane collapsed each time our intro topic is visited or at least the initial time it's opened in a session.Currently when the topic is opened it looks like this:We would like it to be collapsed so the intro topic doesn't look so busy - like this:Is there a way in RH2017 to set this up for just this one topic? Maybe using jquery or a RH scripting method?I've researched the RH forums and have found nothing. Thanks!
HiIs there a utility available for doing the above?
Hello Everyone, In reading through forums I have found best practice when output is required in a variety of languages is to create a separate RH project for each language in its own directory. Re: Bilingual help application The post is quite old, 2007. Does this recommendation still hold for RoboHelp 2019 or does it make more sense to use conditional attributes?Topic was mentioned in RH 2019 webinar, but too briefly.Thank you!
I've created a 'user guide' with RoBoHelp 2017 that uses Azure_Blue layout generated as a Responsive HTML 5. It looks fabulous when using the index.html from my computer in Chrome, Internet Explored, Edge and Firefox. When I open the 'user guide' from the link in our software (from the internet) it looks great in Edge and Firefox but I receive the following in IE and Chrome: My software developer believes it has something to do with the following blank area:Any thoughts?
I have used RoboHelp2017 to author an online user manual. This includes videos, glossary, index, images, links and using the Search. Our users navigate to this using Edge, Chrome, Firefox andIE. The manual works – opens in all of them. The videos play, theimages enlarge when selected, links work. Unfortunately, the search feature is not working in internetexplorer. I had one of our software developers look into it and there isa Syntax error. I am using:Adobe RoboHelp 2017I have reproduced the error in: IE version 11.0.9600.19129Please advise.Colleen
I'm cheating I know but this is a two-part question...We have a team of Technical Writers who work on multiple projects. Often we work on the same projects and we need to share the same screen layouts. We are working in RH2017 and would like to share the contents of a screen layout folder which we named HMI. The structure then is "D:\git\<productname>\Help\<projectname>\!ScreenLayout!\HMI" for example. The first issue is when we attempt to share a file within that folder, RH always adds the file to the root of the RH project folder and immediately adds it as a baggage file. This is, of course, working as designed. Unfortunately, we don't want it in the root, we want it in the HMI screen layout folder in order for the shared resource functionality for our screen layouts to work correctly. To get around this, we end up having to manually open both the rhbag.apj and rhscreenlayout.apj files in a text editor and manually update them so the paths correctly point to the HMI folder.T
Does Responsive HTML5 output any help mappings javascript file that has all mapids?
Hi,Has anyone else encountered errors when generating RoboHelp 2015 WebHelp with Windows 10? I have installed all patches/updates for RH 2015. This occurred after installing a Windows 10 Security Update. RoboHelp is installed on my hard drive and my files are generated there as well. I called Adobe and they were not helpful. We are a small company and our IT Support also is struggling to figure this out. I had this error a week or so ago...a Windows update broke it...then the next Windows update fixed it. But the newest Windows update installed last Friday Aug. 11, 2017 broke it again. Un-installing the security update did not fix it. Below is the error message from the Application Event Viewer. Thanks, LoriFaulting application name: RoboHTML.exe, version: 12.0.4.460, time stamp: 0x581aee66Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 10.0.10586.672, time stamp: 0x580efaf8Exception code: 0xc0000374Fault offset: 0x000dc799Faulting
RH 2017 13.0.2.334Greetings RoboHelpers! After 14 years of merged help .chm goodness in RoboHelp, we are finally making the switchover to using web-based help, specifically using the Responsive HTML5 layout. We're also trying to mimic the merged help we had in the chms. This week I've been working at converting our help system outputs to that format, creating layouts etc, and getting the merged help figured out. I have the merged help working, but have a few questions:First, I saw on Peter's site, information about about a javascript redirect in his instructions: Merged WebHelp and HTML5 HelpWhat is the purpose of that js redirect? I didn't really understand its purpose and so didn't implement it.Second, our parent help project that the child helps are merged beneath does contain a few topics itself. What is the best way to link to those parent topics in RoboHelp from the child projects? How can I maintain those links when topic files get renamed?Third, simiilar to second, what ab
Hi there,I am working on some files that previously published ok, now when I try to generate the HTML5 output it is not opening to my default topic and when I click on the topics they won't open:My output settings are set as they usually would be to generate and open at my default topic (but it is not working):
When opening a project in RoboHelp 2017, how do I prevent the topics I worked in the previous time I had the project open from automatically opening? When I open the project, I want to see only the Starter pod. I assume there is some simple configuration, but I can't find it.
hi i need some help to understand how searching is working in robohelp i had an idea to include Arabic stemming feature so i tried to analyses the search how its works in adobe robohelp what i understand is but i'm no sure that index have alphabet structure to speed up the process of searching rather than search the whole index files,so if i search for example "help" it will begin to to find the closet match words that start with this characters of the search words until find it and the code responsible for that is in mhfhodt.js: this.getWordRec = function ( a_strQuery , bPhraseSearch) { if (!bPhraseSearch && IsStopWord(a_strQuery, gaFtsStop)) return ""; // Return empty if no phrase search and term is a stop word. var i; var begi
Hello I am producing manuals in unstructured Framemaker 10. I want to take these manuals online, build a help file and eventually have a manual on an ipad/iphone. I have the following questions:Coming from Framemaker, will Robohelp be a logical program to learn?Does Robohelp work along side Framemaker? Why should I not use Madcap's Flare? Thanks!
