I am having an issue with my style sheet and the bullets, 1 through 4 not showing on the preview button properly. On my work space the bullets look fantastic and spaced properly as shown below:However, when I preview the topic, the spacing is correct, however, the bullets are not:Does anyone know how to correct this so when I publish my topics to our intranet, the bullets don't look like this? I am at a loss as to why it looks like this. Again I am using RH 2017.Thanks!
HiJust curious about how the RH knowledge base would work. Specifically whether people viewing the published knowledge base (users of the system which I am documenting) would be able to feed back, or contribute to it in some way?One of the items on the "wish list" I was presented in my first few days in the new job, was for a means by which users could feed back; ask questions to which other users or Our support staff could respond with hints, tips and advice. Rather like this forum I guess.Yesterday I noticed the "Knowledge Base" project setting and wondered if this would do the job. On reflection I cant see how anybody else could add content to a published RH project, unless they had RH installed on their machine and access to the source files. Maybe I am confusing the terms "Knowledge Base" and "Wiki". Until today I assumed they were synonymous.Could anybody please clarify what a RH Knowledge base does and whether non-robohelp users can feed back or add content to it. If I were to c
Hello all,Problem: After Rh generates a printed document (SSL - Use Styles from: Microsoft Word Template), it looks as if Rh overrides the document Word Page Setup/Layout settings. (Note: While investigating the issue, this looks like an issue for a long time since it happens in Rh 11 and Rh 2017)Does anyone know of a workaround?Does this issue hold water, hence, bug report to Adobe?Expected Results: There should be no blank page after my cover page, TOC, and no blank pages between chapters. My Rh SSL Advanced Options SettingsMy MS Word Template BEFORE (Settings in my Word Template Layout tab > Page Setup > Layout Tab). My IT department is saying we should no longer use FTP to publish our RoboHelp project to a server on the network. Instead, they are asking us to use Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP).Can RoboHelp 2017 do that? If so, how should the publishing settings be adjusted please?I'm in a Windows 10 environment and publish to a remote server using Webhelp.
Is there any option in RoboHelp 2015 similar to Format Painter in Word? It would be great if I could just select text in a RoboHelp topic, click Format Painter, and then select text in a different topic to match all the formatting in the previous, so it's identical. If not, is there a viable alternative you could recommend? I've made so many small formatting changes using in-line editing, and it's hard to figure out exactly what I did and why blocks of text don't match. All topics started out as Word documents which I uploaded into RoboHelp, but I'd prefer to make edits using in-line editing in possible, as this seems simpler rather than taking all of the following steps:making the edits in Word deleting the old RoboHelp topicuploading the edited Word document to replace the old RH topic (and re-writing the file) adding the topic to the Table of Contents once again
When I press F1 in the application, the buttons for content, index, search etc. do not appear, but only the linked topic. The title bar has smaller font and a note. The URL is in this case: file:///C:/ProgramData/AV%20Stumpfl/Help/German/WingsHDAV_DE/Allgemeines/Programmfenster/themen_hauptfenster.htmAfter clicking in the title bar, view is normal and the URL: file:///C:/ProgramData/AV%20Stumpfl/Help/German/WingsHDAV_DE/index.htm#t=Allgemeines%2FProgrammfenster%2Fthemen_hauptfenster.htmThe phenomenon occurs with different browsers and is not caused by the context call by the application, because if I use an old help, the display is normal again when I call it with F1. If I double-click the "Index.htm" the help will appear normal. I have checked all settings in the SSL, but I haven't detected any errors. I've emptied the browser cache too, but without success.Somehow a script does not seem to be executed correctly when the context is called with F1.Do you have an idea to solve the p
Hello,I have imported a topic from another project into my current project, that includes numerous links to other topics, also in that other project. Can I have the topic I need to show in the current project's TOC, but not include all the sub-topics that are linked to in the project displayed in the TOC. Do those other topics that are linked have to be included in the new compiled project? If all those topics must be included physically in the new compiled project, must they be listed in the TOCI'm not sure I've explained this very well. Hoping someone can help. Thanks,MDawn
I'm using RoboHelp 2017 to generate responsive HTML5 help. I noticed that, while the search function works for both Chrome and Firefox, it does not work when the help is opened in IE 11. I tried this from both a web server and a file server with the same results. I experimented a bit with the search settings in RoboHelp but to no avail. RoboHelp 2017 is up-to-date with patches. Has anyone else seen this issue (and found a solution)?
I have RoboHelp 2017 installed, and it's been working normally with my Responsive HTML5 layout until yesterday. Yesterday, I attempted to apply my master page with a footer to the output layout and generate the help. It generated normally, but when I tried to regenerate the help, it would show the loading icons in the TOC and content frames. I cleared the option to apply the master page, but that didn't fix the problem. Now, I have to generate the help once, and if I need to regenerate it, the only way to get it to work is to create a new output with the defaults selected, and try that once. Each layout works for the first help generation only. After that, a new output is required. Has anyone seen this issue?
I am almost certain that the answer to this question will be Yes! But I need to be sure.We are about to replace our old Windows Server-based web server with a Linux-based web server. This will be the server that I will use to publish a new help centre using the RH2017, Responsive HTML5, Indigo layout. As we are talking about web technologies I don't suppose it matters at all whether I use a Windows-based or a Linux-based web server. Will I have any problems publishing RH2017, Responsive HTML5, Indigo layout to a Linux web server? I'm not using RoboHelp Server, by the way. Thanks!
Having convinced the boss about RoboHelp, I've got to talk to the Tech Guys about setting up Version Control and publishing help to the customers. The plan is to use our development server (named GIT!) as a version control repository and also as a location from which to publish and serve/test the help.I'm not a networking expert, so I've re-read sections of the manual a few times but I'm still not getting it. This quote from the Generating Output>Generate Responsive HTML5 Output section of the manual:Specify a server location for the output. To publish HTML5 output to a SharePoint site, click New and select SharePoint. Enter the UNC path of the folder on the SharePoint site (If the folder is mapped as a network drive, click Browse to select the drive). Similarly, to publish HTML5 output to RoboHelp Server 10, click New and select RoboHelp Server. Enter the Server Name (http://<servername>:port number/<context-name>/server), User ID and Password. Select the Save Password
I'm curious. Has anyone found a way to have an HTML5 help layout also give search results from peer to peer forums? We have a peer to peer forum that gets A LOT of traffic from our users and there's a lot of great shared content. We'd love to find a way of showing forum results along with help topic results when a user types something in a search prhase. Has anyone done that?I looked into Zoom Search on Peter's site, but not sure if that tool can do forums.
I'm keen to use Expanding text, drop down text and text popups in my help project, which is set up for Responsive HTML5 / Indigo output. On the Insert menu, all these options appear to be greyed out at the moment. Any ideas why this is and what I can do about it? Thanks
Hi there!I'm using rhcl.exe (RoboHelp 8.0.2.208) to produce a Printed Documentation. It appears that rhcl.exe raises an error dialog whereas the rhcl.exe thing is called from a batch process that doesn't expect interaction with any user (there's no human to click there). It is expected to get such interactive dialog from rhcl.exe? Can't this be discarded, timeouted or workarounded in any way to run rhcl in real batch mode?FYI, the error I get is:"Printed DocumentationThe Printed Documentation Wizard encountered an unexpected error when attempting to generate Printed Documentation"This error is, BTW, pretty useless 😉 apart the fact that it indicates a failure in the process, it would better dump a more detailed error and fail with the appropriate error code, but that's not my concern right now.Regards,
Hello, I'm wondering if you can help me. We are using Robohelp 2015 to author HTML webhelp and context-sensitive help for one of our applications. The webhelp and CS help content was originally authored in Robohelp 8, and we have since upgraded to RH2015. My issue is with the 'Show' link in the top left corner of the CS help windows. Its purpose is to display the TOC, index and search functionality. Feedback from our users indicated that this wasn't evident by the word 'Show', so in RH8 I was able to change the text to something less cryptic. However, now in RH2015 I can't figure out where to edit that text. Since it was several years ago that I changed it, I can't remember where the control is either. I'm hoping someone on here knows where I can change the text.
Hi,I have a Webhelp system created with Robohelp 2015 that I recently added a print button to, but I notice that table formatting changes on the printed document (cell colors disappear, line width changes, etc). The same issue occurs if I use the browser's (either IE or Chrome) print feature. Using the Printed Documentation feature in Robohelp itself yields the correct formatting.Any idea what could be causing this? Thanks,Greg
As a new RH user, I have yet to find a definitive answer about how a RH glossary file (a .GLO file type) is defined. The RH help file talks all about importing them into your projects, but nowhere does it mention what the file looks like inside. Presumably, it has a glossary term and its definition as its components, but are they comma separated or what in their layout? Can anyone provide this info?
I am using RoboHelp 2015 (12.0.2.384) on Windows 10.I am generating a merged Help project.I deleted the index keyword and then the topic using the Project Manager pod.I generated the parent, then the child.I copied the whxdata, whgdata, and whdata (I know it is overkill) to my test area.Opened the help.Accessed the index. The topic still appears.
Hello,I'm using RoboHelp 2015.When I try to add a topic to a sub-folder of my project, I get the message "The file you specified already exists. Would you like to overwrite it?" However, I do not see that topic in the list of folders in the Project Manage pane. I have looked at the project in Google Chrome and do not see a topic with that name. I checked another topic with a similar name and did not see any problem with the Topic Title and the File Name.I can create the topic in the main project folder with no problem. Is there a solution for this? Thanks,Mdawn
I'm trying RoboHelp 2015 on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. Hello!I have questions about placeholder/field Chapter Name.I work in RoboHelp 2017. I added Chapter Name to the Header on my master page and I hoped that I would have a chapter name in the header on all pages which use this master page, but I see only <<PD Chapter Name>> I tried to printed documentation in PDF and I had the error - "Error! Use the General tab to apply Heading 1 to the text that should be displayed here."I don't understand what this error means? For example, I have a heading with name "Introduction" in my topic and I want the "Introduction" to added to the header. Please tell me, what should I do to have a heading name in the header? Is it possible?
I made mapping IDs for the pages, using the IDs in the software provided by the developers? However, after implementation on the software the Ids appears different when open the help and does not open the intended page? Please help
I'm using RoboHelp 2015 and sometimes, a document will look completely fine in Word but for some reason, it looks different in RoboHelp. Here is an example of what this looks like. This is a screenshot of the top of a Word document:This is what it looks like in RoboHelp (not in the project itself, but once I view the Output and choose a browser:Here's a closeup of the bullet points:I also noticed a stray bullet point that appeared that wasn't showing up in Word, but I fixed it by reformatting the Word doc. I'm not sure how to fix the issue with the bullet points though. Do I need to save the Word document as a PDF and then try uploading that?
Hello,For some reason the glossary in my Responsive HTML output is incomplete. It contains most of the letter "A" items, but anything after "A" is missing. It is find when viewed on my local drive through RoboHelp 2017, but once we put it on a server the glossary does not work right.I have the updated Robohelp to 13.0.2.334 and I am having this issue in both, IE and Chrome.Any ideas? Thanks.
I am having this strange issue with a few different RH projects I am working on. With certain bookmarks, the system will create this repeating miasma of links that repeat the bookmarks over and over again. For instance: topic#Bookmark leads to topic#bookmark#bookmark and then topic#bookmark#bookmark#bookmark and so on.Trying to open the affected projects becomes bogged down in this recursive hell of bookmarks. The main issue is that this results in an error for each instance of the this problem:Here is a screen shot of me trying to update the help. This was after about 20 minutes of clicking 'OK' to the error above. I have recently deleted these files, but they appear in my locally saved copy of the project as well. Now, our team uses SharePoint, with copies of the project saved locally on our machine. For whatever reason, this keeps happening to projects I generate.Does anyone have any idea what the heck is going on?
