I have added some tags in HTML view in RoboHelp 2017 so that the content enclosed by the tags can be identified by the application associated with the Help project. RoboHelp has not removed the tags in the Responsive HTML5 output, which is great. However, in the Design view, they are highlighted in red with an "Unknown Tag" popup. My questions: can I get RoboHelp to accept these tags, without highlighting them, as it is concerning to see the tags in the Design view? Secondly: if RoboHelp will not accept the tags, would it be OK to leave them in, or am I risking creating problems by leaving them in. Ultimately, I need to add them to hundreds of topics. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

Using RH 9 and Windows 7, 64-bit. Recently upgraded from RH 7.Hi Folks,I'm trying to survive a zombie <span> apocalypse! Here's what a portion of one of my .htm topics in my project looks like inside of the Notepad++ text editor:Notice that these span tags are empty. My understanding is that tags without any attributes in them don't do anything. Right? Anyway, there are some 1000 emtpy <span> tags in 18 topics that don't have any attributes in them. I've checked the revision history for one of our files, and it appears that this started happening sometime after the upgrade to RH 9. The initial conversion to RH 9 didn't increase the # of <span> tags, but subsequent edits and saves to the file I checked seems to be causing it. For example in this revision history view from Mercurial, it shows a single change from one revision to the next revision. Notice the increase in tags:Does anyone know what's causing this? There was no visual indication this was happening inside t
Hi, I'm currently on a trial of Robohelp 2017. I'm keen on the Dynamic Content Filters, as this seems like it could be very useful because we have a large set of documents covering a large number of different products/modules and we support three versions for each module, delivered via a merged project. Ideally, I'd like to use CBT to enable end users to filter out the modules they don't care about and also select the version of the software they are currently running.I'd have two filter sets, Version and Module. By default, they would see all modules and only the content applicable to the current release. I'v spent days (and Willam has been kind enough to give me some advice over email), but I can't get this to work. What I've done is applied a module specific tag to the entire TOC in the module specific projects. If an entire topic is specific to a version, I apply a version CBT tag against that as well and everything works as I would expect. Once I build the merged project, I
This has happened twice in the last few days.RH crashes. When I reopen RH, none of the topics that had been open are now open as they usually are. In addition, each entry in the TOC has a red X on it because...no topics appear in the Project Manager pod. Windows Explorer displays the topics and I can open them from there (thank goodness) but, no matter how I open RH, I get the same empty folder where my topics should appear. When it happened the first time. I found that I was running 2 instances of RH: one had topics and one did not. This time that is not the case. I've tried closing and reopening RH but to no avail. Is there a file that I could replace from a backup copy of the project? If so, which one(s)?Help!Lore

I am trying to generate a PDF from a large project. It has 2335 topics. When I publish to PDF, it does not create the PDF. It creates a Word file instead. But even with Word, the Generating Printed Documentation dialog opens and never stops. According to the Output view tab behind it, the word file is created but it never creates the PDF. I can go an open the Word file as well. But the dialog never goes away adn the PDF is never created so I can't do anything else in Robohelp. I also cannot manually cancel the dialog. I have to go to Task Manager and stop Robohelp. Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks,Gillian
Whenever I try to customize my layout for Responsive HTML5 I get an error "MasterThemeSchema.xml file has invalid data". I've tried creating new layouts and editing existing layouts. The first time I click Customize Selected Layout it works. But any attempt after that produces the error. Anyone know what's going on? Thanks.
I just updated RoboHelp to release 13.0.1.279 and regenerated my output without making any changes, and it no longer displays the book and topic images on the landing pages. The text is now all shoved to the left hand side. Tested in both chrome and firefox. Please help!
I attempted to rename my project and accidentally included a character (&) in the project name. Then updated the project name again to remove the characterThe TOC displays with icons but no text.
I have a folder named MSHO... in the !SSL! folder of my RoboHelp project. Inside that folder is the Word document named MSHO...This generated an error message when I moved a copy of the project to a backup drive. Then I tried to delete the MSHO... folder from the !SSL! folder on my local drive, but I get an "Item Not Found" message (see below), and I was unable to delete that folder. I have been able to delete the Word document inside the MSHO... folder.I'm suspecting that the three periods in the folder name are causing the problem. I would like to delete this folder because I need to protect this project: I don't want anything buggy in it.Thanks in advance for any help. Update: I just opened the RoboHelp project, and clicked the Outputs(SSL) tab, and deleted MSHO..., but still the MSHO folder appears in Windows Explorer.(I am using RoboHelp 2015.)
What, if any, problems would this cause?
Hello, I´m a Robohelp beginner and I would like to ask how I can split one Framemaker file into multiple html files. The process should follow subchapters defined in Framemaker and they should be named with the according subchaptername.
I created a .chm and published it to a SharePoint web site. When you click to open the chm, it opens fine, but there is no content: no TOC and no topics. However, if you copy the CHM from the SharePoint to your local drive, it opens and displays properly. Has anyone else had this problem, and is there a workaround? Thanks.
Hello all,I'm testing my site a bit, testing out the search bar function. (RoboHelp 2015, HTML5 output)I search for the term "manual."I get 28 hits. But some of those pages (topics), when I look at them, do NOT have the word "manual" in them.Turns out that the word "manual" appears in the BREADCRUMBS of the topic, and therefore when I search for "manual," the topic is incorrectly returned as a hit.Is there a way to stop the search from including terms that appear ONLY in the breadcrumbs? Thanks,Mark
I'm currently using RoboHelp HTML 11 on a Windows 7 machine. I'm taking a look at the insides of my project's HHC file and have a question about some of its contents. In many of the topic titles, I'm using User Defined Variables to control a product name. When I open the HHC in a text editor to view its contents, I notice that the variables used are always followed by some numbers. For example:<item name="Topic Name" link="TopicFileName.htm" variable="Sample_Name,0,14,"></item>For the same variable, the numbers are mostly consistent throughout the file but there are a few instances where the numbers are different.Out of curiosity, what do these numbers following my variables within the HHC file indicate?

RoboHelp 2015I have a published RoboHelp 2015 merged WebHelp project. I need to update it. I'm not sure the best process for doing that. Do I update the entire project and re-post or can I just post the updated files?2. The software calls the help using URLs. If I republish the file, how do I ensure that the existing modules keep the same URL?3. The majority of the modules link to a main page in the software. I need to change the structure of the Master Project. How do I ensure the files still can be called with the existing URL?Thanks,MDawn
Hi,I am testing using the responsive html 5 output with merged files. I have worked out my issues with the table of contents but now I come to the index. Our real help has a lot of index keywords down to 3 levels, each child project has its own index. Some of the Index keywords are the same in more than one child project. This is where we have an issue in Responsive HTML5 help my test project looks like this:Each Test keyword goes to a different child project. Here is the same project generated as a WebHelp projectI have selected the single Test keyword and a pop up box appears to let me go to one of the child projects. So the index is working in that in responsive html5 help you can click on each of the index entries and they take you to the associated topic. However it is not working as I expected becuase you get a separate entry for each topic in the Index rather than merging them together and then providing a popup (or some other method) of selecting which child project topic you wan
Hi everyone!I'm building a help system in RH 2015, outputting to Responsive HTML5. The help includes an FAQ section. Each FAQ appears as a list of questions; the user clicks a question and the answer opens as dropdown text underneath the question. The user clicks the question again to hide the answer. However, some of the FAQ answers are kind of long, and when the user scrolls to the bottom of the answer, the question scrolls up and off the top of the screenHere's my question for you. I would like for the user to be able to hide the answer without having to scroll back up to the question. Is it possible to add a "Close" button to the bottom of dropdown text in Responsive HTML5? I'm not finding anything helpful in the RH help, other than it's possible to add a "close window" button in Microsoft HTML Help output, but that doesn't help me!All ideas are appreciated. Thanks!Tim
I have RoboHelp 2015.When I generate the help, the TOC is is accurate, but the topic content is missing. I'm seeing this icon:I have deleted the TOC and started over. I dragged the topics I wanted included from the project list to the TOC.I have deleted the files listed in the WebHelp folder in the project and started again, still no luck.Of course, I need this done by end of day today! Any help is greatly appreciated.MDawn
Hi,I have a set of projects one parent and 9 children which have been merged and published as web help. I open the parent help and can see all the children, the children have links from one to another and these when clicked open within the parent tab keeping my TOC structure. So in WebHelp it all works fine However I have gone through and republished all the projects as Responsive HTML Help using the Assure Blue skin, now:1 I open the parent help and the TOC for all children is shown correctly2. I click on a link to one of the child topics in the TOC it opens in the parent tab as expected3. I click on a link in any of the child topics linking to a topic in a different child project - the 2nd child project opens in a new tab and displays the expected topic NOT what I want.So how do I get the links in the child projects to open in the parent tab? I have looked at Peter Grainges explanation and cannot see anything I am doing wrong, I tried looking at William van Weeldens site and he does
Hi,I'm using RH2015 and have a merged responsive help project. I have updated topics and created a new merged project within it.I have built and published the project locally and it works correctly in IE, Edge, and FF.Ship the output to the dev team who plumb it in and when accessed via the application it works correctly in IE, MS Edge but in FF it is not showing the updated topics and not displaying the TOC correctly. For example, i added a new field 'Menu' to this topic and it displays correctly when called from the application using IE and Edge. When i access the help with FF version 53.0.3 the field is not being displayed. The TOC is also not displaying correctly. The new merged module Purchase Invoice Management should be displayed beneath Xcel Uploader as per......But when viewed via the application in FF it is not?In another part of the TOC there should be a PIM folder. This is shown correctly in IE and Edge as per......but is not displayed using FF as per below?Any ideas?&nb
I am receiving consistently a Javascript error in the use of image maps with links as an automatic popup to a topic (html file). The error states "An error has occurred in the script on this page. Error: 'BSSCPopup' is undefined. Code: 0 What can I do?My image maps linked to a html topic work if I use "Display in frame". They do not work any longer in RoboHelp 2015 (updated with ALL patches) when I use "Display in auto-sizing popup" or "Display in custom-sized popup" where JavaScript is used. Any ideas? Must I have JavaScript installed to work as the scripting language in RH2015? My IT Team says I never had it before, only JAVA.
