I pasted a small icon-sized image into my RoboHelp project, and the image is on the same line as my text, however the image is raised up a bit from the text. I want the image to be nicely centered after the line of text. I've used the HTML editor and added IMG Align=middle, but this does nothing. I don't know how to do this in a style sheet, if that's the fix. Here's what it looks like. I've also made it a hyperlink because it's a step in a process.I appreciate any advice you can provide.Thank you!
Greetings!I'm using RoboHelp 2015 and I want to output to the Webhelp format. I want to customize a few features in the Webhelp (like displaying a logo on the right side of the navbar), so I accessed the Output Setup, created a New Skin, selected Clean_Tangerine, made a couple of changes, and saved it under a new name. However, the new skin didn't appear in the Output Setup > Skins folder. I found the .skn file I created (in the !SkinSubFolder!) and tried to import the skin, but no dice: it still refuses to appear in the Skins folder and I cannot select it as a skin In the WebHelp Settings > Navigation panel. What am I doing wrong? How can I customize a WebHelp skin for my project?Note: I am NOT using Source Control (Sharepoint).Note2: Okay... I closed the project and re-opened it. I can now select the new Webhelp skin from the WebHelp Settings > Navigation panel, but it still doesn't appear in the Skins folder, which means the only way I can edit it is via HTML.--JD Hickeywww.d
I added an MP4 to a topic in my RoboHelp project using Multimedia on the Insert tab; however, when I generated the Responsive layout, a prompt saying an error occurred inside a plug-in contained on this page. Any suggestions?
We recently upgraded from RH 10 to RH 2015. We know one dhtml drop-down text issue existed before the upgrade, and the upgrade did not resolve it. We have another more serious issue now. We are not certain it began with the upgrade, but we detected it after having converted our projects to RH 2015 and republishing them. I'm listing both of them here in case they are connected. The known issue: The multilevel list styles work at the main topic level and inside the first-level dhtml drop-down text box. However, if we add a drop-down text box within a drop-down text box and apply a multilevel list style to text within the embedded dhtml drop-down text box, the topic appears fine on the design tab but loses the outline numbers and/or bullets in the preview and in the published version. Any idea what would cause the list not to display properly or how to get the multilevel list styles to work in this situation? (Yes, we know we can use list styles in
Is there any way to set default image properties? Every image I'm using in a project needs to have a width of 600 px, a 10pt bounding margin, and a 1 pt black single-line border. I have approximately 600 images to add in this project, and don't really want to subject myself to carpal tunnel by single-clicking through each of these settings in the Image Properties dialog for every single image.I'd be fine just setting default margins/borders and resizing each image manually, but I don't even see a way to create default settings for those. I suppose I could create the settings for one image and then cut and paste the HTML for the rest, but that seems an inelegant solution for as robust a tool as RoboHelp is.Does anybody have any tricks or hints for a more workable work-around?
I am trying to compile a WebHelp project using the RHCL command. I have RoboHelp HTML 9.0.2.271, running on Windows 7, and the project compiles fine from within the GUI. However, although the first part of the compilation (processing, updating, etc.) works using RHCL, the part where the WebHelp 5.50 template is applied is full of errors. For example:Template Error: can not resolve macro: WH_LNG_LoadingData..Template Error: can not resolve macro: WH_LNG_MergeError1Template Error: can not resolve macro: WH_LNG_MergeError2Template Error: can not resolve macro: WH_LNG_JS_alert_ProjectLoadingFail..Template Error: can not resolve macro: WH_LNG_PreTooltip in D:\CUACV9\Administrator WebHelp\!SSL!\WebHelp\whtopic.jsTemplate Error: can not resolve macro: WH_LNG_NextTooltip in D:\CUACV9\Administrator WebHelp\!SSL!\WebHelp\whtopic.jsTemplate Error: can not resolve macro: WH_LNG_Show_Navigation_Component in D:\CUACV9\Administrator WebHelp\!SSL!\WebHelp\whtopic.jsTemplate Error: can not resolve macr
I've included Placeholders (breadcrumbs and Mini-TOCs) in Master Pages. They work as expected for the HTMLHelp output, but when I generate Printed Documentation (.doc), they aren't there.I checked to make sure that I didn't accidentally assign them an online-only condition (I didn't).I'm using RoboHelp 9 (RH9). Do I need to do something special? I just tried specifically applying the Print condition to the breadcrumbs in the footer and using that condition in the build, but that didn't help.
This is our situation:We are working in RoboHelp 7. We have many projects and about 40,000 topics in our current Help.We are upgrading to RoboHelp 2015, but not until after one more maintenance release, at which point, we will totally reorganize our Help and use filters heavily.I am still editing topics in RoboHelp 7, but am also trying to prepare for the upgrade. As I work on these many, many files, I'd like to apply some kind of markers that would help me filter the material after the upgrade. It doesn't have to be picked up by the program, but at least I'd be able to quickly see that "this file is theory" and "this file is a how to," and organize/filter them accordingly.Does anyone have any suggestions how I might do that? Thanks!!Susan
I am running RoboHelp 11 under Windows 8. The project is under Subversion version control (SVN). My problem is that the *.fpj files appear not to update.I have imported several topic files into a folder that already contain topics and an *.fpj file. I do a Save All and Commit the project to SVN. When I subsequently Update the project (to bring the latest version to my local disk) the imported files are not in the Project (though they exist in the disk folder) and the folder fpj file has not been updated.I have local Admin rights on the machine, so I don't think permissions are the cause.Advice and guidance? Please?
I would like to embed a video in webhelp which by default opens at its Youtube address in a separate tab.Customers with limited (or, no) internet access tend to see 'Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage' plop in the middle of the page which we'd like to avoid.
Hi Everyone,When attempting to Customize the layout for Responsive HTML5 output, I get stonewalled by an error message saying that the "MasterThemeSchema.xml" file has invalid data. What can I do about this?My ultimate goals here, really, is to:Change the navigation icons for TOC, glossary, index, etc. from icons into buttons with the actual WORDS "Contents," "Glossary," etc.(Is this accomplished through changing the skin? I see something about this on RoboWizard site, but it seems to apply to WebHelp output, rather than HTML5 output.)But, I need to solve this "invalid data" problem in and of itself, as well. Thanks,Mark
Hi all,I'm wondering, if anyone of you knows where I can see, in which projects a certain topic is used? I searched the available reports, but with no luck. What I want to know exactly is the following:I have several "general" projects like "Install", "Configuration", "Views". Then I use some topics from each of these projects in other projects (via the Resource Manager; the topics are linked and keep updated). In the combined projects, I see which topics origin from somewhere else (this is indicated by a green check mark). I can even see, where this topic origins from via the file properties - path.I'm looking for an option to see in the source project, if a topic is used somewhere else and if yes, where. This would be very helpful, if I need to rework such a file or just want to delete is.Any ideas? Thanks and regardsKarin
Is there a list of files that should be stored in SVN and a list of those which shouldn't be stored in the repository?--Christoph
The pictures in some topics are disappeared with red fork when I view the generated CHM, I don't known why? then the pictures will appeare when I inserte pictures again, but pictures will disappeare again when close the project and re-generated at next time,so strange, why?
After installing RoboHelp 10, I ran the 10.0.1 Update's installer. It failed with the following error log:Adobe RoboHelp 10.0.1 UpdateInstallation failed. Error Code: U44M2P2I tried re-installing RoboHelp 10, followed by a reboot of the machine. Several attempts to run the 10.0.1 updater gave me exactly the same error. No applications were running when the installation was attempted.Any help is greatly appreciated!Layne
Hello,I am trying to create the printed documentation for a project. A window keeps popping up to save the Printed Documentation.dotx that I use for the Word document. Even when I click Save, the file does not save and the window keeps re-appearing. I can't seem to get the window to close and not reappear. I am not able to successfully create the printed document version of my help project.I have not encountered this before. Thanks,MDawn
Hi everyone!I'm using RoboHelp 2015 running on Windows 10. My help system contains a glossary and I'm using glossary hot spots in the help pages so users can click on a term to see the definition pop out. I want to format the definitions to be a different color than the normal body text, so uses can easily see where the definition ends and the normal text picks up.However, I cannot figure out if it's possible to format the pop-out definitions for the glossary terms. I have messed with all the various hyperlink styles (including all of the sub-classes) but to no avail.Does anyone know if the pop-out (not the hot spots, but the pop-out text itself) can be formatted in any way? If so, how? Thanks!Tim HuddlestonCharlotte, NC
Hey guys, I'm working with Robohelp 09, and I want to be able to expand a section, and have a portion in THAT expanded section that, itself, can be expanded. If you try to add a drop-down while inside of a drop-down, you'll notice that the options grayed out. You CAN however, create a drop-down, cut it, and paste it into an existing drop-down. So my question is: does anyone have experience with this? .... I'd hate to start using it and find that one you have a few of them, everything implodes lol. Thanks in advance!
Hello there, I'm the only author in our company (Nottingham, England) and I've happily been using RoboHelp x5 for the last few years. We generally only build CHMs and RoboHelp has proved to be an excellent, robust product. We're now looking to upgrade and I see that Adobe RoboHelp 2015 is available. Would anyone know if I could upgrade all our RoboHelp x5 projects to Adobe RoboHelp 2015?Thanks, Nicky
I was wondering if there are any plans to have RoboHelp out to InDesign?, I always think that products in the same family should easily talk to each other.
I have a project with merged HTML Help. A central project collect a bunch of baggage files (.chms). There is a central .ali. In the subprojects there are also .ali files. Now my question: which mechanism generates the central .ali file? Problem is that there are some mappings missing in that .ali file, although they exist in the subprojects .ali file.--Christoph(this is RH 9 btw. - don't say it's obsolete )
We purchased three copies of Technical Communication Suite 2015 last year. We waited until after our latest release to start using it, and now, when I open it, I only have RoboHelp10. It says it's Technical Communication Suite 4. Is that the same as 2015 or did we receive the wrong thing? The salesperson I purchased it from is not answering my emails. I need to get busy with our next release and I need an answer to my questions. Can someone help me, please? Thank you.Susan
Hi,For a few years now, I've successfully incorporated Zoom search into documentation generated by RH, using the javascript method. I now need to improve the search function beyond the limitations of the javascript method, so I thought I'd look again at the search feature that comes with RH.I haven't been able to find the answers or options to do the following:1. Let the user limit their search to 2 out of 3 content categories. At the very least, I want to exclude the "appendix" content category from the main search, but still have a separate appendix search if the user chooses. Can users only search one category at a time?2. How do I get the TOC TITLES to display in the search results - and NOT the filename? This one is really annoying me., displaying filenames is ugly.3. How do I get meaningful descriptions to display in the search results - and not, by default, the first text of the files which often includes the "return to top" script I have on each pa
RH2015 | WebHelp | Printed DocumentationI've tried unsuccessfully for some time to force image borders into printed documentation. Whatever steps I take, the style is not exposed through the Output Editor, so it cannot be mapped to Word template style. Although the border appears in RH (and the WebHelp output) I can't work out how to get it into the printed documentation. The workaround is to add the border manually to each image in Photoshop, but I'd like to be able to manage this using a project style.Does anyone know if this is possible? Thanks
According to the RoboHelp help (Adobe RoboHelp (2015 release) )Step 3 mentions two files that we can't find: wininet.lib and hhctrl.libProgram Help for Visual C++ applicationsThis information is for developers connecting context-sensitive Help topics to C++ applications.1)Open the project in the C++ IDE.2)Add RoboHelp_CSH.cpp and RoboHelp_CSH.h to the project.3)Link the wininet.lib and hhctrl.lib libraries to the application. Look for the hhctrl.lib library in the CSH API subfolder of the installation folder.4)If you are using Microsoft Visual C++ with MFC, set the RoboHelp_CSH.cpp file so that it doesn’t use precompiled headers.I checked in the installation and they are not there.Thanks.
