It looks like after upgrading to Robohelp 10, the Webhelp compile no longer produces a "whcshdata.htm" file in the output, but instead produces "whcshdata.js." I can't find anything in RN about htis change, but wondering if anyone knows if this is true? Thanks
EnvironmentWindows 7 EnterpriseRoboHelp 11Team Foundation ServerVisual Studio 2010 Professional -- Source ControlThree of us are starting to work on a Help project together. We are working from Version Control. We will be setting up collaboration guidelines, such as, 'don't work on the same topic at the same time'.However, when we open our projects, RoboHelp prompts us to check out the XPJ file and we are not sure what the effect is in a collaborative environment running in Source Control. Will we run into version conflicts? The RoboHelp Help says that we don't have to check out the XPJ file when editing, only when editing project settings. However, RoboHelp won't let us click No in response to the prompt. Thanks for any guidance on this issue.Carol
I am using RH 11, and tracking changes. I use the Add Review Comment option extensively to indicate to my reviewers which screen shot is for the new release as well as to ask questions of them and explain why I am taking out a particular sentence. I use Tools --> Create PDF for Review, and I've been testing saving it to my local drive or emailing it to myself. The redlining for deletions and green writing for additions works fine. However, for areas where I have comments, I have yellow highlighting, but cannot see the comment.Any ideas as to why?I'm desperate to get this review process started, and so I sent a request Adobe's tech support email as well as called them. I have a MAJOR deadline to get my materials to reviewers, and I direly need those comments to show.I'm wondering if any of you wizards of RH have any ideas. Here is exactly what I sent in my email to Adobe: Thank you for any help you can offer!
Could you, please, answer the following question:is there a possibility to create a Book TOC, as it can be done for topics Insert Placeholder -> Topic TOC, for example. Many thanks)
We converted from RH7 to RH10 earlier this year, and our application uses the XML files in whxdata to connect help buttons to topics. It seems that RH10 is not creating these XML files, which is breaking this functionality. Some searching indicates that these files should be created when the primary WebHelp layout is being built. I can't find any settings anywhere that indicates whether or not they should be created. Is this a consequence of the conversion, or does RH10 not create these files anymore?
All-Continued tests of the RH Server seems to show that when someone (say, a customer who's interested in accessing content) attempts to access a protected site, they are presented with the standard RHS Admin login screen:I'm interested to know:If this is in fact the default screen a customer (content consumer) would see, andIf there's a way to customize this image.Colum's response to the discussion here:customize robohelp server web adminSeems to indicate that customization is NOT possible (tho the thread is 4 years old.)Thanks!
Good afternoon.Running RoboHelp 11, integrated with Team Foundation Server and Visual Studio 2010.When my two colleagues recently "got" the latest project files from Source Control, they also got items that had been removed or deleted. For example, I had removed all conditional build tags from my project, but their version still included the build tags. Eventually, thanks in part to an old post from Peter Grainge, we realized that the PSS in Source Control contained a lot of that old information. We deleted the PSS and stopped checking it into Source Control. Problem solved. No more conditional build tags or unwanted Single Source Layouts, etc. (I think the PSS got checked in by our Release Engineer when he was trying to solve some other problem. Two years ago it was not being checked in.)I vaguely remember reading something somewhere once upon a time about not checking certain RoboHelp project management files into Source Control. So far I've not found any such information in th
We currently have a project using RH8 and RoboSource Control3.1 and will be upgrading to RH11. The output is WebHelp. Are there any issues or concerns we should be on the look out for? Thank you in advance for your reply.Stella
Hi-While I have been successful in getting RH Server to merge the projects shown below:...and access the merged projects in this landing page...http://localhost:8080/robohelp/server... I can't seem to access one of the individual projects, such as Minerva API HTML Documentation. The HR Server docs say:You can access area-specific projects using the following URL:http://<server-name>/robohelp/server?prj=<project-name>&area=<area-name>What I think this means is that I should be able to browse to Minerva API HTML Documentation like this:http://localhost:8080/robohelp/server?prj="Minerva API HTML Documentation"&area=generalHowever, when I try this, the merged project opens up (as though I were browsing to the first red URL above). Please advise as to what I might be doing wrong. Thanks in advance!-Kurt
Hi. Has anyone had success deploying RH Server on a VMWare virtual machine? Are there any gotchas one should be aware of?Thanks!-Kurt
I have added a number of new styles to my stylesheet. They show up fine in my Design view. However, once I apply them, then click on the preview button or even generate webhelp to see what they look like as generated, the styles are not showing up. What am I missing?btw.. I am using RH10.Thanks!kb
When I view my published WebHelp on a Mac (Safari or Firefox), and scroll to the bottom of the index or glossary, I get a "Slow Script" or "Unresponsive Script" error and it locks up. I have no issues on the PC. Any idea what may be causing this? Without a solution, I'm forced to generate my Help files without an index or glossary. (To generate WebHelp, I am using RoboHelp linked to a source FrameMaker book - I have Technical Communication Suite 3).
Hi,I have created Table of Contents in RH 6 and generated the WebHelp. But when I open the help files via an application's help button in IE11, somehow the TOC is not displayed on the left pane. However, when I use Mozilla FF 32.0.3, the TOC is displayed without any problem. Can you advise how can I solve the issue in IE11?Thanks.WF
I am using RH 11. We generally output our help projects to WebHelp, but we still have a few .chm outputs.Marketing has provided us with a new branding for our Help projects. We implemented the new skin for the WebHelp and then applied this skin to the chm outputs. This works really well. The only issue is that in the new chm output, we no longer have access to the Favourites functionality.Does anyone know how to add this functionality or a workaround to create favourites in this new chm output?Any help would be much appreciated.Cheers,Mack
All-Well, I'm not out of the woods yet. I've discovered that my issues of logging in to RHS Config Manager (admin/admin, but then nothing happens when I click Sign-In) returns when I select SQL Server Express. This despite the fact that the Config Mgr's Test Connection function shows success (see graphic below). Any ideas what might be going on?BTW, is there any source which shows screen shots of EXACTLY how SQL Server Express, Tomcat, and RH Server needs to be set up? I see that others in the forum have had similar frustration with this question.
I am looking to do some reorganizing of some help projects here at my new employer. For the past 10 years, I have only been dealing with web-based apps so all my help has been web help... sometimes page-level, sometimes not. However, I will need to now convert and/or create new help for a software app that is thick-client style. I need to know what the optimum output format would be to work best for page-level, thick-client, online help... HELP!BTW.. I am currently using RH10 for Windows 7.Thanks,kb
When I use the browse forward and back buttons the pages shows up in illogical order. The reason is that my project was imported from Robohelp 7 to Robohelp 11. In Robohelp 7 all the pages was located in a large Word document and they were located random as they were made. It is this order that is imported. Is it possible for me to affect this order in Robohelp 11 so that it becomes logical when I scroll back and forth with these keys? I have tried to find out if there are any id on the pages that I can manipulate, but have not been able to find this.
I'm using RoboHelp 9 HTML. I have a set of documents that will be printed from the help system on a pretty routine basis. I need to force a page break as a designated point in each of these docs but only when printing. Is there some HTML code I can insert (or another solution) to make this happen? Thanks.
I am trying to put a hyperlink on my page which redirects to open up a .chm file and then jump to the topic where I am expecting it to be. For example I have 5 fields on my webpage. Each has a separate page of description. I have created 5 different topics and htm files to describe those. Now I need to jump to the page of the exact field topic when the user clicks on the hyperlink on my webpage. How can I make this functionality working? Is there any way to jump to the exact topic page from the .CHM file? Please guide me..I am in the a big trouble out here to enable this functionality...please anybody help...thanks for that in advance....
HiI have a ToC with three levels Unit > Lesson > Topic > Sub Topic. This ToC is coming from the linked FM. The ToC is paginated at Topic level and Sub Topic is basically a section within the Topic. Now, I wanted my users to navigate through the course at sub topic level using Browse Sequence buttons. For example, in the screenshot shared below, I want the users to move from First Sub Heading sub topic to Second Sub Heading topic using Browse Sequence buttons. I thought I could achieve this by increasing the browse sequence levels. But that is not working. So, I am curious. What do these mean? Can I actually achieve my goal at all? If browse sequence level is not the correct way, can somebody please help me with the right approach? Thanks
Hi experts. I've a couple RH Server questions:Supposing RH Server's database fails, or at least it's connection to the database fails. What would be the consequences. That is, would RH Server crash and not serve up anything. Or, would it simply be that reports are no longer accessible, etc.Has anyone used RH Server (installed on a Win 7 system) connected to a SQL Server Express instance (installed on another Win 7 system to spread CPU load). My IT Manager is very leery of the free database option (for performance/reliability reasons), but there's no way we're going to spend almost 20K$ on SQL Server or Oracle DB. So, I'd like to allay his concerns about the SQL Service Express option. Thanks in advance.-Kurt
I used RoboHelp 9 to generate WebHelp. I applied Adobe's IE10 Patch for "Existing WebHelp created with RoboHelp 9" and the "IE10 patch for RoboHelp 9 installation" provided by William van Weelden. My Search results appear as gibberish (see below example). However, when I click on a number, a help topic appears. Weird huh? Any suggestions for a fix oh wise sages? I'm just starting to find my way with Responsive help and am creating a project where a non-standard font needs to be used. This is fine in topics - I provide a link to the font in every page and it works great. But try as I might, I can't fathom how to change the font of entries within the table of contents.Bumbling about so far, I've found the Table of Contents.slp file and put the same link to the font in the header there (<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=PT+Sans" />) - I then customised my layout to specify the font name (PT Sans) for the TOC Desktop, but this seems to have no effect at all: when I generate the help, the TOC renders in what looks to be a default Times font.I'm really just guessing at this stage so if anyone can point me in a slightly more considered direction, I'd be really grateful!ThanksClaire
We had RH9 and server went live recently. But unfortunately stuck in this dilemma:In order to get better searching function, we have to use one pane instead of two panes; With one pane, RH9 server stops generating statistical reports (we have window 2008 R2 as the application server)Adobe told me this is a bug. I am quite surprised: with this bug, how could RH9 server gets its marketing? Do you have any idea about this issue? I searched the user forum and get nothing. I am wondering any possible that we are the only customer using RH server 9 for its reporting? Or this bug only triggered on certain configuration conditions?Appreciate your any comments. Frances
