Hi, all. I am currently using RH 11. Is there a way in which I can hide a book or entry within the TOC, based on a parameter passed in the URL?
I'm using RH11, and I used the advice on this board to create a button that will allow a PDF to display inside the WebHelp window with full functionality. However, I would prefer that the PDF display in a pop-up window instead of inside the WebHelp window. What additional step do I need to take to make that happen?Thank you!
The doc generates using a Word template mapped to the CSS styles. It pulls together several topics out of a larger online project. When I generate this doc, the Word draft always has two blank paragraph breaks after each topic. These breaks aren't in the topics and we don't want them in the Word doc. We have to take the time to manually remove them each time. Is there a setting somewhere that I can change to stop RH 11 from adding these extra paragraph breaks?
does robohelp X5 runs on windows 7 or 8? if not what version does and what is the cost to upgrade?
Framemaker 11 and Robohelp 10 licensed versions used. Options for linking the Frame files is greyed out. Also, updae book and file options are geryed out. Please assist.
Can we use Robohelp 10 for multiple users who want to work in a single file without installing a server?
Hello,RH11 / IE 11I would like to get the horizontal bar on the left navigation pane to reset to 0 position OR specify width of left navigation pane to fit longest topic title. Once I generate WebHelp and view in IE, I see:When I begin browsing through my topics, left navigation pane creates a horizontal scroll bar that cuts off the left side (as shown below):Horizontal scroll bar is:The users must drag the bar to left position if they want to see TOCIs there any way around this? Thank you.
Suddenly I'm unable to create next/previous buttons in new TOC folder. I create folder, add pages, go to Browse sequence editor, create new Browse Sequence, generate Multiscreen HTML & when it's through no browse sequence in shown ie no next/previous buttons. Help?
I am experiencing some very odd behavior in RoboHelp 9 project. When I attempt to import/insert a graphic into a topic, I receive the message:Unable to rename file, "image.gif".The file contains illegal characters.First of all, I am NOT trying to rename the graphic. Secondly, the file name image.gif does not contain illegal characters. This happens for any graphic I attempt to import/insert into the project. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Hello,My RoboHelp 10 merged project has three SSL outputs: Windows, Linux and Mac versions. Each image in the project therefore has three versions. I have 194 topics, not a huge project, IMO. The generated output for the Windows version is 30.8 MB, which is 1,008 files, about 500 of which are image files, 27 folders. Theoretically, this means that all three versions when published have a total size on disk in the area of 90+ MB. My issue is that I work on the project locally, generate locally, publish to a remote source controlled location and then the network guys copy the published output to a web server. They want me to find out if I can reduce the size of the project so it takes as little time as possible for them to copy it. The copy is the slowest part of the whole thing, including my publish. One thing I noticed after the last time I published is that every so often, RoboHelp seems to publish extraneous files/folders to the output that should not be there, as in when compared to
I was trying to add a complete breadcrumbs path (with links) in Framemaker. The breadcrumb path would be like: <Project Title> > <Chapter Title> > Heading 1. But, instead of putting it in Master page, I tried putting it in Body page (in a separate text frame). On the Body page, place a text frame on top of the page.Choose Special > Variable.Select a user-defined variable in the Variables scroll list. (I edited the Definition as <$paratext[Title]>The breadcrumb is showing properly (without the link)Now I imported the .mif to RH. But it's not showing up in RoboHelp output. Do you know how to add a breadcrumb in Framemaker?
All-My objective is to put a "Send Feedback" link in the footer of each RH-generated HTML page, to solicit user comment on the content. I've found very little on this subject. This page, from the "I'd rather be Writing" blog back in 2007, recommends adding a script like the following: document.write("<a href="mailto:joe@support.com?subject=Application%20Name%20("+document.title+")%20%20File:%20"+location.href+"">Send Feedback</a>"); It looked promising. But it keeps giving me a Expecting")" error when I use the "Look" button in the master page. (The scripts link doesn't appear in the published footer.) However, in the script, the parans are balanced: two left, then two right.Any help would be appreciated.Thanks.-kt
Hello,I am in the process of trying to clean up a CSS for an "old" RoboHelp project. I believe the CSS contains many unused styles that were probably "trial & error" styles, but were never deleted when they failed to produce the correct format. I know it doesn't do any harm to leave them in the CSS, but I really don't want them around! I did not see a report in RoboHelp that would provide this information, but before doing a search for each individual style using a program like Agent Ransack, I wanted to see if anyone in the Community had any clever ideas as to how to accomplish this task. Thanks for your input/suggestions!
We upgraded from RoboHelp 9 to RoboHelp 11. The title bar in multiscreen HTML 5 SSL output is appearing as a blue visited link and should not. I cleared the cache and it's still there on all the topics. In Chrome, I highlighted the title bar in the Multiscreen HTML5 output, right clicked, and selected Inspect Element. This is the code:<a href="../Welcome/Welcome_to_Track-It_Technician_Client.htm" class="homelink">. The "homelink" class did not appear in our previous RH 9 WebHelp.I see the homelink in the main.css stylesheet, but I don't see where I can change the color of the visited link. The title should remain white on a dark blue background.a.homelink { border:none; text-decoration:none; color:#ffffff;}a.homelink:hover { &nb
I am using Robohelp 10. What is the best way to add an option for the user to provide feedback from each topic? I would like it to send it via email from the web server that the helpfile is hosted on. How can I go about achieving this?
Hi,I am using FM 11 and RH 10.I would like to understand that If the size of FrameMaker document is huge(say above 75000 KB) will that not be imported in RoboHelp? When I tried importing a FM book to RH, 3 units(FM files) were not being imported. All these 3 units are relatively huge in size compared to other files in the book. It is because images are directly copied to these files and not imported by reference.I tried the link approach too. Even there these 3 files are not getting updated.I want to know that if the size of the file can cause such issue and if so, is there any solution other than deleting all the images and importing them by reference. Thanks in advance.
Hi. Can anyone comment on their experience using RH Server on Windows 7 and using SQL Server Express? That is, is it stable and fast enough for delivering Web Help Pro documentation to support occasional viewer browses. (We would have approx 250 customers who would occasionally access the HTML docs that support our software.)Our company is not keen on spending $s on Windows Server and an MS or Oracle database. Thanks in advance.-Kurt
RH 9 (latest)Windows 7 x64Due to some corruption somewhere in our main help project that prevented me from generating layouts using the RoboHelp command line (rhcl.exe), I deleted my .xpj file and .cpd file, and then recreated the .xpj project file from the .hhp file. This is the recommended fix to get things back to normal that I did two years ago when I got this same error. (For info, see Command line generation errors in log. How do I fix this?)However, as expected, all my single source layouts are now missing from the Single Source Layouts pod. Is there a way to recreate the single source layouts from the .ssl files so they appear back in the pod with their previous settings? Like a way to re-import then into the project? I have 36 individual ssls just for printable output alone that I spent creating all day last Friday (1 per chapter), I really do NOT want to manually recreate them.A related question is, where does RH store the link between xpj and ssl layouts? Because when I chec
Hey folks! I have a really annoying issue, in a project helmed by one of my team members. The same broken links appear again and again. They are all easily repaired by importing the missing topic, which is sitting in the expected folder, with the expected name, in Windows Explorer. Importing these topics back into the project resolves the Broken Links, until he exits the project and comes back in. Pretty much the same topics appear again as Broken Links. His CPD file also tends to get bloated quickly when we don't use the option to rebuild it each re-entry. The same problems occur whether we do or do not rebuild the cpd each time.He is in RH 10. I am in RH 11, so I took a backup of his project and brought it into RH11 a few minutes ago, and resolved a couple dozen broken links, then exited the project. Same thing happens. I am THIS close to starting a new project and setting it all up again. But is there something else I can try?Oh - we already tried rebuilding the xpj file. It's
I'm using RoboHelp 11. The fonts in my source files are set to Verdana, but the WebHelp output is set to Times New Roman. What can I do to make the WebHelp output match the formatting in the source files?
I am working with RoboHelp for HTML 9 on a 32 bit machine. Recently, we encountered problems when viewing a .chm file on a 64 bit machine. The TOC was fine, but the topics did not appear, only error message "Navigation of this web page cancelled". My compilation settings did not change since the last compilation some months ago. What happens?
Hello! I am using RoboHelp 10 and when I transfer my project from WebHelp to a CHM file using the converter tool in RoboHelp I end up losing my context sensitive mapping. If I generate the file directly as a CHM file everything is fine, however, I was hoping to do it this way to retain certain esthetic feature I can only get by generating the WebHelp first. If any of you could provide any guidance on what I might have done wrong that would be wonderful! Thank you!
Just a heads up to all of you RoboHelp Server folks that know my dear friend John Daigle. Today is his birthday!Happy Birthday to John! May you have many more and thanks for all the help you unselfishly give.Cheers... Rick
Hey guys,I am working with the multiscreen HTML5 output. On each of my topic pages, I use the Robohelp widget to include the topic title. This works nicely enough. However, in the search results, this topic title gets put through as part of the text preview, so for each search rersult, I end up with:Topic TitleURLTopic Title Topic TextIs there a way to stop this from happening, so I can get this:Topic TitleURLTopic TextAppreciate any insight you can provide.
