I need to move a doc from a Word file to some kind of help file (chm, webhelp, whatever). The Word doc has a bunch of tables where most of the data is the same for each customer. Unfortunately, the software has been updated in such a way as to make two of the columns customer specific.The customer specific data will be stored in an Excel worksheet on the customer's server.Thanks!

Hello to all,just wanted to replace a string in my RH Project. Using the Dialog "search and replace in files", the Option "ignore HTML-Tags" is grayed out. Even if i create a new, empty Project: the same Problem.Is this Option generally not available in RH11 or what is the Trigger to gray the Option out?Sorry if I dont hit the English terminology used in RH, I'm using the German Version...Regards,Julian

RH Version: RH 9.0.2.271Word Version: 2010System: Windows 7 Ultimate, SP1. 64-bit machineBackground: We have a very large documentation set in our main RH project of approximately 40 folders (ie chapters), resulting in about 2300 pages all told. Our current modus operandi is to export the printable output in chunks of approximately 6 chapters apiece, and then combine those docs together into a single doc file. This has more or less worked for the past decade.Current Issue: Lately however, something has changed in our RoboHELP project. Because when I try to combine all of the different chapters together into a single DOC file, I lose bulleted and numbered lists from some chapters. The individual DOC files are fine though.Since last week I've been trying to track down where the root of this problem is. I have exported every single chapter as an individual DOC file, and then I create a blank DOC file, and then use Word's Text from File feature (Insert tab, Text group, Object drop down, th

Does RoboHelp Server store all data in the database and only code and templates on the web server?

I'm trying to update online to 9.0.2 and always I'm told that the update server doesn't respond:I don't understand how this could be a firewall problem unless Adobe wants to connect activelyfrom the outside to a port of my computer (which is indeed connected through a firewall and a NAT gateway).I don't have problems doing other Adobe upgrades (like Flash or Adobe Reader) this way.--Christoph

I have prepared a Word template for my printed documentation. Everything works fine BUT - the various headings appear as Articles and Sections instead of the numerical multi-level list. Therefore, I am also getting the articles and sections in my TOC. How do I let Robohelp know to use the numerical list instead of the Articles & Sections. (The numerical list is the one defined in the template, but something is overrriding it).Thanks in advance,Iris

I have one group that's requesting their output to have a collapsed left hand navigation pane (i.e., no TOC/Index/Gloss/Search identified as default). While I've shown the requestors HOW to collapse (click the "X"), they want it gone by default.  I know we could always go Traditional - No Skin.. but we could also write content in Latin, too.  So, is there a method to choose "None" as the default toolbar for a defined Single Source Layout (even outside the WebHelp Options GUI)?

I recently switched to RH 11 and I noticed that I cannot add pasted text when I'm hyper linking. I've tried copy and pasting from another program into the topic and then copying and pasting again into hyperlink with no luck. This is frustrating because now I have to type out long URLs that use a lot of characters. Does anyone have an idea of what is happening and how I can fix it?Thanks in advance!

Hi. Perhaps I'm having a brain fart, but when I click on the double gears (see graphic) to create a new variable, nothing happens. I can create variable sets, but not UDVs. Anyone know what gives?Thx.-KUrt

HiI am using RH10, with TCS4. I am publishing to WebHelp.We have a requirement to create two ToCs for two roles accessing our course material. The content and the TOCs are linked to FM book. I have created Content Categories for this purpose. The problem is that I am not able to create browse sequences for each of these category's TOC. Browse sequence editor accepts only one TOC. Is there a way I can make it work?Or, should I explore merged WebHelp feature to make this happen? I am not familiar with it. But I know Grainge's website offers the best guidance on this topic if I have to learn.Thanks in advance.Sreekanth

Robohelp10, WebHelp Pro -I've got what I have to think is pretty fundamental question: When I generate my WebHelp Pro project, everything works perfectly until I move the contents of the output folder to a network drive for viewing. When the default topic opens, rather than displaying the TOC/Search window on the left, I'm getting a link that says "Show". Click that link, and the TOC opens right up.I would like to have the TOC displayed on that initial view, without requiring users to click the "Show" link.Again, when I view the results of the output on my local drive, the TOC is displayed. The obvious problem is, the generated help needs to reside on a network drive to be accessed by our users...PS: The project is on my local drive, only the contents of the output folder are being moved to the network drive. Also, everything other than the TOC display seems to be working fine.Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.-lcarey

I have created a help of a product in English, using Robohelp11. I need to distribute this help to a few people who know only French. How do I get the entire help translated to French using Robohelp11?

My (FrameMaker 12) Paragraph, Character, etc., styles are not available under RoboHelp 11's FrameMaker Settings on the Project Settings > Conversion Settings form.However, when I create a new project and select Import > "Edit conversion settings for FrameMaker documents," the styles do appear on the Conversion Settings form.Why are the styles not brought into the new RoboHelp 11 project?Is there a way in RoboHelp to bring them in post the New > Project process?

Hello All-I am using RoboHelp 9  (9.0.2.271 specifically) to create a product WebHelp for my company.  I am having a problem with the display of the actual WebHelp in a browser and I am hoping someone may have a solution for me.When I generate my help file in MS Explorer and it opens the index page as usual (1), it has a second vertical scroll tool (2) which I don't understand:When I attempt to move to another topic in the file (3) it always opens blank no matter which topic I choose:If I press F5 and refresh the help file, the topic then appears (4) but so does that mysterious second scroll tool (5). Also, if I then attempt to move on to a third topic, it will also be blank and need to be refreshed to make it appear. I have no idea how to fix these issues. Does anyone have any advice?Thank you for your help-Michael

While importing Framemaker files to Robohelp 11, I want to hide images. How can it be done?

I've searched and not found any other results with this particular issue.When I publish my files in a Responsive Layout I have the following set:Output Folder and Start Page (went back to using Index but generally have a unique name for the start page)Default topic was selected using the SELECT buttonTable of Contents is identifiedWhen I Publish, that start page does not display the TOC. I have to select CONTENTS button/link to display the TOC. Previously, my files would display the TOC with the Start Page.Additional Note: When I select another page, the content moves to that new page, but the TOC disappears again and I have to select the CONTENTS button again to view the TOC.What setting am I missing? I've searched Help, I've searched the community as I am sure there is a simple setting for this that I am missing and found nothing that addresses this. I do see the TOC once I select the Contents link/button on the page and can navigate, so it's working, just not displaying by default w

I have been working on a new project in RoboHelp 10 which has a .CHM output file. In the Window Properties dialog for the output I have selected to add a button (Button 1) to the toolbar which is linked to a pdf document. (We have done this many times before in earlier versions.) For some reason I cannot get Button 1 to appear at all. I have tried creating another window and using that instead, and even recreating the project with just a single topic, but to no avail. Other changes I make to the window (size, other features) work fine so I am definitely using the correct default settings to generate the project. If I use Button 2 then I see the button but can't find the pdf, even though I have put it in the root file of the project as normal. Has anyone else had this problem, and do you know of a solution?

The RH Server Help only provides instructions for working with RH Server from RH HTML 7-9. Since the Help was updated in May 2014, I was surprised not to see RH 10/11 in the Help.Thanks very much.Carol

I published my RH 10 Help documentation and it's available on the internet. It looks good, everything works, pages display well. I have however had the comment/complaint from my team that people cannot save web pages properly in any browser using the File/Save option. In IE (I'm using IE 10), choosing File/Save As... allows me to save the file as .htm but when it is opened, the file is empty: all there is inside are the HTML open and close tags.I don't know why they would want to do it but I've been asked to find out why it won't save as a full page, and if I can change that.Thanks for the help!Helen

When I open the chm from the in Robohelp 8 project window the Glossary tab and entries are correclty displayed. However, ehrn I open the same chm from Windows Explorer the tab displays but no glossary entries are listed; the glossary tab is uniform grey with no list pane. Any ideas on why this is and how to fix it? Thanks, Duncan

I have been using RoboHelp 8 for about 3 years. I received a new work machine, so I had to reinstall RH8. Installation went fine, but now when I try to open existing RH projects, I get a message telling me that "this project is from a newer version of the program." I know this is not the case. Any thoughts or solutions are appreciated. Thanks!

I created an epub ebook using Robohelp 11, but I cannot get the file to pass epub check on this epub vaidator: EPUB Validator (beta) I get the following error: "External DTD entities are not allowed. Remove the DOCTYPE." Does anyone know how to resolve this error? The ibooks store will not accept the content with the error in the file.

I am not sure how to describe this as I am not sure what the trigger was to cause this, but here it goes:First of all--I was transitioned from a Virtual Machine to a Desktop to gain better results from using my Adobe applications and reduce issues.I am on Windows 8, 8 GB RAM, AMD Radeon Card with 4GB vRAM.I loaded RoboHelp 11 and my Creative Cloud applications onto the desktop machine and moved my files over the desktop from a server drive.I have been working for a couple of days in RoboHelp and "Published" last night. That crashed and I realized I needed to remap the drives. The server drive wouldn't remap so that publish crashed a second time, but the local publish to my desktop C: drive indicated it had been successful. I didn't reopen the files at the time as it was end of day last night.I went home.I came back this morning and when I opened RoboHelp and my project, all the topics had the project title preceding the topic title in Project Manager AND every single topic now has the

We localize our documents in many different languages. When I was using RoboHelp 10, I had no problem opening the localized RoboHelp file and viewing it in that specific language. However, after updating to RoboHelp 11, the languages do not display correctly (all characters are just boxes). Any thoughts about how to fix this? All source files are the same, just opened in RH11 instead of RH10.
