I and my team are new to RoboHelp Server, as in we just got it loaded. I'm set up as an admin and I'm trying to add my writers as users but am having difficulty finding instructions on setting permissions. Yes, I can add them to a new group, but where do I add the permissions for that group? In addition, I'm wondering on best practices. We have about 5 separate help files for 5 different applications. Do I create 5 areas or 5 contexts? Or do I just put them all in "general"? One of them most certainly will be in its own context as it is large and will require merging. The others are small and self-contained in one project each. My IT guy wants to keep them all in the one context (except for that one large one that needs merging). I just have so many questions. The help files and pdfs from Adobe only barely touch on these things. Any help or pointing to other sources, would be appreciated! Thanks! I was hoping to find more on Peter G's site, but maybe I missed it somehow.
Hi,Maybe someone can help me out please.I'm trying to create a hyperlink and link a bookmark to it inside the same page. Hello! I've recently upgraded to RoboHelp 2020 from the 2019 version, and have run into a bit of an issue with importing Word documents. In RH 2019, I could easily either select an existing style corresponding to each Word style, or select "Discard Style" for when there wasn't any that fit but I didn't want to import as a style of its own. This way, I could import hundreds of word documents without ever having more than the initial "default.css" stylesheet. In RH 2020, however, it looks like they've removed the "Discard Style" option in the Word doc import menu. Even when I make sure my imported Word doc has only a single style applied to everything and select a corresponding style during import, it still creates a separate stylesheet. (e.g. Word document "Imported Document" has the "Normal" paragraph style applied to all text. During import, I select style "p" for the single paragraph and character word styles. The imported topic is created, along with "Imported_Document.css
Hello lovely people! I upgraded a large, snippet-rich project created in RH 2017 to RH 2020, all updated and patched. My snippets now have dozens of added tags, as shown in the capture below. What are these weird entities? Will my project disintegrate if I delete them? They are incredibly annoying and deserve deletion.Thank you for any light you can shine on this mysterious issue 🙂
I've made some custom templates by both writing my directly into CSS, and copying and editing styles that already exist, and I can't see any of them in the Template list under table options. Is that a bug or expected? Right now the only way to assign those table templates is to go into the HTML and add the class myself, which gets old after a bit.
Hi All, I'm sorry, if this information is easily to be found somewhere. For me, it took quite a while to figure it out, so I share it here. Maybe it will help others as well. My problem was, that the tile box indicators in the Frameless Skin Editor were no longer displayed. Usually, this is displayed in the Skin Editor: In my case, it looked like this: So, whatever changes I made to the settings of the tile box (and the image box), I could only check on them when I created an output. The "problem" in the editor was the following setting: If this setting is activated and you save the skin and open it again, no tile-box indicators will be displayed in the editor. My work-around is: deactivate this setting save the change and close the skin open the skin again (notice: the setting change does not take immediate effect in the skin editor, you have to close and re-open the skin) make your adjustments to the tile-boxes (tip: if you want to also edit the image-box, insert the images
I have checked multiple web sites and authoring assistance forums, and am still not sure what the issue is. I am trying to add a text box onto a graphic in my RH project. I set up a master page with the full-size image that is to be used as the first page of the online help. First_Topic.htm has a text box on it with the text that will change depending on the release version, release date, and so on. When I generate the Responsive HTML, First_Topic.htm displays the image from the master page, but the text box appears below the image instead of on it. Do I need to insert a text box on the master page? TIA
Blank PDF document is getting generated when generating PDF
I am getting the error message copied below when generating a Responsive HTML5 output from RH2020. Nothing is immediately obvious as broken/not working in the generated output. I'm at a loss for where to look to resolve this warning. Has anyone else run into this?I'll note that this help system started its life in AuthorIt. I have imported topics from the generated AIT help into RH to convert, so this is most likely something tagging along from that.Error message: Warning: Skipped copying external file "C:/Users/amie.fountain/Documents/My RoboHelp Projects/outputs/searchhighlights.js"
Hi, I've been using Adobe RoboHelp Classic (2019) for quite a long time and now I am trying to get used to RoboHelp 2020. This may be a silly question (sorry if that is the case), but I am not able to find the EclipseHelp output option in this latest 2020 version. Is it no longer available? Thanks in advance. Alex Bello
I'm using RoboHelp 2017 and compiling/publishing Webhelp. The search function returns: Error: Failed to initialize database. Entering any query results with Null. I've seen posts related to this issue going back several years. The consensus of late is that this is related to issues with the *.js files located in the whxdata folder. The search function used to work. The issue just "happened" one day. I got an email from a user that the search function wasn't working. I checked and sure enough... no joy.If I use RoboHelp 2017 to create a new project and generate a new Webhelp the search funtion works just fine.Is there a way to replace/fix the missing/corrupted .js files (assuming that's the issue). I've spend time in the forum posts. In all the posts that I've read there isn't a solution for Webhelp. I've read solutions for Responsive HTML5, but I haven't found a solution for RoboHelp 2017 for Webhelp. I appreciate any help.
Greetings! I am running RH 2020.8.34 (will update soon). Is there a way to export my help project's index to an HTML file? Thank you!Cindy
In my mind I can see us having multiple Robohelp projects managed by GitHub, each with different auuthors. One project is likely to contain content that is reused in a lot of other projects. How would I manage this in RoboHelp? Can I import selected content from project A into project B?Would the author of project B be informed when that content changes? Can the content be automatically be reimorted before I generate a target from project B?
We have a massive Online Help project that we maintain in RoboHelp Classic. We've been wanting to upgrade to RoboHelp 2020 for a few years, but we tried at various times and the upgrade would always fail. Now trying again with the latest update, the upgrade seems to complete successfully, but then some of the styles in the project seem to be corrupt. Bulleted and numbered lists seem to be the most obvious areas where the styling is off, with bullets and numbers either not being present or way out of alignment. Here is an example of a numered list in RoboHelp Classic and the same list in RoboHelp 2020:RoboHelp Classic:RoboHelp 2020: Looking the the html for a single item, we have the following:RoboHelp Classic:<?rh-list_start level="1" class="ML_List" style="list-style: rh-list; list-style: rh-list;" ?><p class="List_Number">Perform the following to create a new <?rh-glo_start class="glossterm"?>Adjustment<?rh-glo_end ?> Details Display View:</p><?r
Hi,We are trying to implement Google analytics tracking code on output from RoboHelp 2019 Classic. Based on some recommendations on the forum, we added the tracking code to the footer of the master page, but it is not working. We tried the Google recommendation of adding it to the header, but it doesn't work. The code does not get copied over to the header of each individual topic. On consulting with our in-house web developers, we discovered that since the JS code has been rendered inside an iFrame, the Google Analytics code has not been executed. Ideally, the code should be placed on the parent page, so far we have not been able to find an option where we can place the Google Analytics tracking code on the parent page. Please let us know how we can achieve this so that we can get the usage statistics from Google Analytics.
When using RoboHelp 8 to generate Eclipse via the EclipseHelp.jsx script I encounter the following problem: WebHelp generates its own search and index which does not work once placed inside the EclipsePlugin. Is anyone else using RoboHelp to generate Eclipse Help? How do you overcome this problem?
Cordialement,
The majority of the images in my document are just within an <img> tag. I've started trying to add in captions and wrap it all in a <figure> tag, however it keeps creating this strange figure size, that makes text wrapping around it really awful. I tried replacing the <figure> with a <div> tag and it did the same thing. I want to be able to start incluing <figcaption>, but can't do it if this is the current situation. It does this if I float it to the left or right. The figure in the CSS has nothing designating size. I tried setting a width, but it doesn't seem to change anything.
There are cluse as to the file name in the ToC and contents, but I need to know which file it was
RH 2020.7.46, Frameless layout, customized Studio skinIn my topics, I have screen shots to which I have assigned an image style. I defined that style to put a thin gray border on all sides of the image. In the Authoring panel, I see the border as expected. In the output preset, I have the "Show Thumbnail for Images" setting enabled but in the output, I don't see the border around the thumbnail. (The results were the same no matter whether I selected the "Style Existing Images as Thumbnails" option or "Create Thumbnails for Images".) It seems like my image style settings are being ignored or overridden. Is it possible to apply styling to the thumbnail in the reading panel? If so, how would I go about doing that?
I was wondering if there is a way to automatically download a PDF file from the internet and have it open automatically. I have an internet link to a PDF document that automatically downloads when the Download link is clicked on the webpage. What I want to do is use the download link (URL) and have the PDF automatically open in RoboHelp. Is that possible? When I try to use the link that is used on the webpage, the download occurs to my PC in Downloads, but I would like to have it automatically open at the completion of the download. Thanks in advance.
I need to import a full set of html files in a folder hierarchy. Can Robohelp do that? All I can see is the ability to import single or multiple files. I need to be able to import an existing set of html documentation, complete with all the internal links. If possible, the original RST files could be imported instead
Hi all, unless I am mistaken, when you apply a master page that has no CSS links, the topics should keep their CSS links as they are assigned in RoboHelp. I am quite sure this worked in the past. Now when I do this, the CSS-references in the topics (e.g. default.css) are removed and the topics are displayed with the browser default settings. Am I missing something, perhaps a setting in the new UI? This is Robohelp 2020, Frameless output (Studio), master page applied in the preset. Robert
RH 2020.7.46, Frameless layout, customized Studio skin I'm trying to apply some styling to the Mini TOC caption but having no luck. In the skin, I see Topic Page > Mini TOC > caption, so that seems like the logical place to make changes. But nothing I do there (change the font, change the color, make it italic, etc) seems to have any effect in the output. I have successfully customized the settings for item, selected item, and the item-levels I need by using the Skin Editor, but not the caption. In Inspect mode in the browser, I see that the caption is controlled by .RH-LAYOUT-MINITOC-caption, so I added some code to my user asset .css to make my changes there. Still no effect. What am I doing wrong? All the other Mini TOC settings seem to be customizable in the Skin Editor. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
I need help with what I hope is an easy fix. This is what my authoring environment looks like in RH 2015.The way it is set up allows me to drag a folder in the HTML Files (Topics) section, select a book, and drag it to the Table of Contents pane. The screenshot below shows the Active Directory and the Avamar folders in the HTML Files (Topics) section being in the TOC.This is what my authoring environment looks like in RH 2020. How do I show the Contents section next to the Table of Contents at the same time? I cannot figure it out...
