Hi Margowins

we are sorry for the trouble. As described, you are getting the error message 'Knowledge source failed. <Gather Form Data>'

Is this a behavior with a particular file or with all the files that you try to create PDF forms with?

What is the workflow or steps you are doing to create the PDF form?

This error occurs for several possible reasons, most recently for page break "irregularities" that work fine in Word but not in Acrobat. If Acrobat converts one or more pages and stops converting at the end of a page, displaying the message "Knowledge source failed," check the page break. Ensure that the paragraph mark before the page break is Normal style. The page break or section break with a style other than Normal can cause Acrobat form conversion to fail.

Regards

Amal

Hi Amal,

I am getting the same message

Knowledge source failed. <Gather Form Data>

But this is in a 16-page document created with InDesign with forms that had previously worked just fine to create forms. I updated some text, and changed some lines to fill-in boxes. Otherwise the same. All single pages - nothing goes from one page to the next. If I test a single page from this document, I can create a form OK.

Hi Amal,

There is form on page 5 that seems to process; starting on page 7 there are a number of form pages that will not be prepared properly and I get that “Knowledge Source Failed” message.

I am using Mac OS 10.14.6 Mojave
InDesign 16.0.1
Acrobat Pro DC 2020.013.20074

Hi there

Thank you for sharing the PDF file. I have tried to open the PDF on my Win 10 system with Adobe Acrobat DC version 20.13.20074 and its opening fine without any error message.

Please try to redownload the PDF to your computer first and then open it with Adobe Acrobat DC and check also try the following preference settings and see if that works for you.

- Go to Adobe Acrobat > Preferences > Page display > Under Rendering > Uncheck 'Use Page Cache' > Click OK

Hope this will help

Hello,

I am getting this error today for the first time, but it is not a word doc.  It is a scanned form which I am attempting to make fillable.  I've never encountered this before.  My Acrobat Pro DC is up-to-date, Continuous Release Version 2021.007.20091, Version File Version 21.007.20091.59174, AGM Version 4.030.00110, CoolType Version 5.017.00004, Core Version 21.1792, JP2K Version 2.000.00001.49214.  Windows 10.

Hi Pamelam

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble.

Would you mind sharing the steps you are doing to make the scanned form fillable?

Hi Pamelam,

Can you also share issue file with us , so that we can try to reproduce this issue in-house ?

Also,

Is this a new document you are opening for the first time or the same document worked fine on earlier version of Acrobat ?

Thanks,

Gaurav Maheshwari
