Redaction in Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro

I am using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro. I wish to redact documents to irreversibly remove selected text and meta-data, to produce a "what you see is what you get" document. I have read that a "sanitize" function is available on newer versions of Acrobat. Is there something similar to the Sanitize function in v9, or alternatively is there a series of steps which can be taken in v9 which would achieve equivalent results to the sanitize function?

What you need to use initially is not sanitising but redaction. Acrobat 9 Pro had redaction, I seem to remember; CRUCIAL: do not use any other "discovered" ways of removing text, use only the redaction tool.

Thank you! I have used the redaction tool and it does exactly what I want to the selected text. However I want to make sure that there is no way of ever revealing what was redacted i.e. is there any remaining meta-data which can be uncovered?
