How can I recover / retrieve an overwritten PDF-file?

If you've overwritten a file then the old file is gone. You can't recover it, not unless you use some very advanced file recovery tools, which will cost you a lot and might not work at all.

Try finding by the name of the file.

You could also check under the recently accessed documents under the recent tab.

Search in the location where the file was saved.
