Trouble starting Adobe Audition

Hello

I am having trouble getting adobe Auction 3.0 to start. It has been fine working previously for years now, but starting getting stuck on Friday.

The software launches, but it gets stuck on 'initializing required application components'.

On Friday, I updated my Nvidia card with the latest drivers. I also used shadowplay for the first time. I think this is what might have caused the problem (audition was fine before). I thought it was maybe because shadowplay was accessing the mic, but even when I deactivate the mic in shaowplay, audition still won't start.

It is worth mentioning  that another software, Replay Media Capture, also started doing the same thing at the same time.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

Interesting, I tried opening as administrator and BINGO, AA3 is up and running.

Audition has always had difficulties in running if the user didn't have at least Admin privileges...

My situation is that AA3 would not load and I got the following message:

I have reinstalled AA numerous times with no change.

I have the same program installed on my laptop and do not have this issue. Is this a computer/Windows 10 issue? Can anyone help?

Thanks

I was on the phone with Adobe support to solve this very same problem.  The person was very nice and pretty much knew right away what was going on.  It was simple and it worked. (WINDOWS 7)

Right click on the icon you use to launch Audition.  Select "Run as Administrator"

Voila!

Turns out the program gives that error message and hangs because it does not have permission to access certain files/directories.  Don't know how it lost those permissions from one day to the next but it did.  The support person changed the permissions on those files.  All is now well, it seems.  In the alternate, I could have just run it as admin each time I wanted to load it.

That worked perfectly for me as well. Thank you for posting this!

You could try launching Audition with the Shift key held down. This will reset all Audition's settings to the default. But you may lose any custom settings that you may have made to Audition over the years. Otherwise try Restoring Windows to a point before the updates to see if everything works OK then.
