we are looking into ways of disabling the popup that we get saying that creative cloud desktop app gives us to update, as even if users could update themselves our network security wouldn't allow it. we are fine with the version we use of the desktop. I don't understand why adobe has to make this so complicated, for our large network of users it's impossible for us to have those update automatically.
Do you have self-service installs and updates disabled in the profiles in the Admin Console?
The CC desktop app needs to maintain updates in order to facilitate sync, libraries, Adobe Fonts, etc.

I don't have self-install enabled as our organization doesn't allow that, and updates are disabled in the profile in our admin console. problem is it ignores the updates for all the software except one, the Desktop app. the problem came from having to add fonts to our software and it doesn't like the fact that desktop app is not up to date so fonts don't install.

This answer is 100% not helpful to the question, at all.
I'm completely aware that the app is requried "in order to facilitate sync, libraries, Adobe Fonts, etc."
I do not use the sync, the library, cloud Adobe Fonts, the cloud storage, group collaboration, etc. Many of us effectively do everything LOCAL, and have no need nor desire for these online connection features.
It's great (I guess) that auto-update exists for those that need to maintain such cross-server syncing, but it would also be great if you could the thing OFF and access the preference panel without having to update the app just to access the settings.

It seems odd that you can't access any part of the CC app if you don't update. I want to log out of Acrobat on 1 PC (so I can run it on my 3rd PC), and can't find a way to do that.

Yes, it's asking me to update, but I don't have admin privileges. If I don't click update, I can't do anything other than quit.

I can contact our admin, but they won't update it. They won't update until all security testing is done. That usually happens about a year after the software is released. (We just got CC2023.) Therefore, our software is never up-to-date. Rendering all features of the CC app unavailable to us.

@EsJayKayToo Creative Cloud desktop is managed separately from the product releases. You need to keep your Creative Cloud desktop up to date to allow font/file syncing to continue.

How is this so hard to understand?

@thorn-neverwake no need for the snark - and that reply was not sent to you. CC Desktop controls your app licensing and other aspects as well.

it takes 1 year to test the cc desktop app?

Our network admins test and manage security for hundreds of apps (for several thousand users). Compared to other applications, Creative Cloud users represent a very small percentage of staff.

you could post a suggestion to adobe (which might gain traction in the coming years).
use the desktop app ideas forum.
