Just started experimenting with this feature and it would be so much more flexible with a transparent background option!

Hi @peterg2036972
Can you please elaborate? Do you want GenFill to create transparent backgrounds? Do you want GenFill to recognize transparency and fill all transparent areas? Just fill a transparent layer? Or is there something else?
Thank you!

It would be great if we could generate images with transparent backgrounds so that we could more easily composite them in with other elements.  So no, not talking about Generative Fill to add content to blank areas of canvas.  For a comparison consider the new Vector AI features in Illustrator when one specifies the Icon mode.  Maybe Photoshop can have a similar mode to tell the AI model that the image to be generated is going to be used in compositing and so should be knocked out or masked.  For example I prompt the engine for images of cars and specify it is a comping element.  So what is returned are just masked images of cars, not cars on roads against a backdrop of city streets or landscapes.

I'm looking for the same thing - to generate an object with transparency (that is independent of the background). Let's say I need to generate a glowing moon over my already existing background of a night sky. Right now, if I do it but I want to change the background or make any editions to it, the generated moon is practically useless, as it has the initial background it was generated on. Would be great if I could use the generated object on top of different backgrounds ...specially because if I want to generate it again on a new background it's impossible to genrate the same object again...
