Can you try and turn off "Save in background" in the preferences?
What exactly happens when you save? Do you just hit Cmd+S (Ctrl+S)?
And what happens then?
my adobe illustrator is 26.5, I use a Macbook air. I cant find the "save in background"in preferences or in help
when i hit cmd+s nothing happens. neither when I open file and click save, save as, export... nothing happens. it is also still titled üntitled"
i have no problems with other artworks
So just this file?
And you already copied it to a new file because it didn't save?
What's in the file? We are interested in features you used.
You can try and copy parts of it to new files and then see if it saves.
"Save in background" is in Preferences > File handling.
yes just this file.
yes i tried copying the whole thing to another file and it didn't save.
Now I have tried copying only one element at a time, and none of the elements save.
Many of these elements where from another file that saved normally.
The elements are text, squares etc from AI, JPEG and ping images and icons downloaded from stock. Just seemingly normal elements.
Can you show how they look in the layers panel?
it is not letting me see the names, only three dots or the first letter on some of them
however I did manage to export the selection as assets, but that is the only thing it has let me do
I disabled save in background, and nothing changed. It is still giving the same problems.
Have you added Illustrator to Mac OS System Preferences/Security and Privacy/Full Disk Access?
how can I check if I have and do it if I haven't and should?
Go to Apple System Preferences/Security and Privacy.
Click the Full Disk Access from the list on the left.
See if Illustrator is in the window on the right.
Click the Plus sign to add it to the list.
You have to add it using the plus sign at the bottom of that window.
Then Quit and relaunch Illustrator and see if the save issue persists.
dont I risk loosing the artwork? since it doesn't late me save it or name it?
You will. It requires you to relaunch Illustrator but I dont see any other way. I thought you were able to create a copy as Assets.
Based on your screenshot you will need to click the padlock icon to unlock so you can add it.
yes, it tells me to quit adobe first for it to be able to add it
