Yes - Live trace (Bildnachzeichner) in german version 27.3.1 is also working again! (mac)

Great news! We're thrilled to hear that the issue with Image Trace has been resolved with the latest update, v27.3.1. Thank you, @Ton Frederiks and @peterk6392879, for taking the time to install the update and confirming that everything is working smoothly again.

We encourage all users to update to the latest version and to let me or @Anubhav M know if they continue to experience any issues.

I'll chime in too...I'm afraid to tell you @Anubhav Majumder@Anshul_Saini that Image Trace is sadly still completely broken in 27.4.1. I'm getting this error message...

I've just had to revert back to 27.2 before it was fixed ...causing me headaches and delays on a couple of very time-sensitive projects!

It's crucial to my work - would appreciate it being sorted as a matter of priority please!

Hi @Georgie Letters,

I understand that you are facing issues with Image Trace in Adobe Illustrator, even though you use the latest version (27.4.1). Several users have reported this, and we are currently investigating the issue.

Please share the images in which you are getting this error with me so I can check, and I will forward them to the product team for further investigation. Also, please confirm if you are on macOS Catalina.

I will be looking forward to your response.

Hello,

I deleted all Adobe programs and installed the latest versions from the beginning. (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, PremierPro) The problem still persists. I'm preparing a presentation and there are serious problems because I can't progress right now. Please I would be very happy if you could help.

Hi @Serdar Sisman,

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing persistent issues despite reinstalling the latest versions of Adobe programs. In order to further investigate and provide you with a solution, I kindly request that you share a sample file/ image and a screen recording showcasing the problem step-by-step you're facing. This will help our team better understand the specific error you're encountering and assist in finding a resolution.

You can upload the sample file/image and screen recording to a cloud storage service like Google Drive or Dropbox and then share the download link with us. Once we have access to these files, we can analyze them and provide you with appropriate guidance.

Thank you for your cooperation, and we'll do our best to assist you in resolving this issue as quickly as possible.

I am just chiming in here. The latest version of Illustrator (27.4.1) is still broken. This is an unbelievable mess. Each iteration of the leading Adobe apps that designers have been using for decades are becoming flakier, more bloated and more needlessly glitchy. This is just appalling software as a service.

I am genuinely baffled how this basic functionality passed Quality Assurance being so obviously broken.

Pathetic.

"baffled how this basic functionality passed Quality Assurance"

That's actually been moved from in-house to user...

There was an update today to 27.3.1 (check regularely, maybe not yet everywhere available), that fixed the Image Trace problem for me.

Agreed... my Live Trace has also died.

Installing the previous version as we speak.
Of all the tools to test, Live Trace is the only one I care about.

Hi All,

I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to provide you with an update on this issue we have been experiencing with Illustrator update v27.3.

Our product team has made an attempt to address the issue in the prerelease build v27.3.1_629. Would you all mind trying the prerelease build and letting us know if the issue has been resolved for you?

To join the Illustrator prerelease program, please follow these steps:

  1. Click on this link (www.adobeprerelease.com/)
  2. Go to the "Available Program" section to join the Illustrator prerelease.
  3. Accept the Prerelease agreement.
  4. Install the Prerelease build v27.3.1_629 by closing Illustrator and going to the Creative Cloud Desktop app > Prerelease section under apps > click on install. Please note that this will not replace the existing installation of the Release build of Illustrator.
  5.

However, if you are still experiencing the issue, please upvote this UserVoice (https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447-illustrator-desktop-bugs/suggestions/46351957-image-trace-bugged-presets) and add your comment to get an update on it.

Thank you for your cooperation and patience in resolving this issue.

Best,

Anshul Saini

Same problem here. UKCO error on an AI file created in a previous version when using image tracing.

Hi. I tried to use my Image Trace in the latest version, and the preset option only allowed one preset... auto tracing!  The only variations were in the 'Mode' field, i.e. black and white, colour, grayscale. For me, that is a gamechanger, as I draw alot of my work and vectorise my line drawings, and Sketched art was the perfect option, which all of a sudden there is no longer that option.

So I installed the previous version, however, now even though the old preset options are showing, when I click on 'Trace' (which only appears when I untick 'Preview'), nothing happens! There is no change to the raster file, and Preview becomes 'ticked' again. Can you please advise how I now get Image trace to work properly? Thank you.

Hi, as I cannot edit my original comment, please disregard from 'So I installed the previous version', as I figured it out. However, the original question about the latest version not giving preset options still stands. Thank you.

Hi All, @Lucy28570325pmsm @leslieb8922941 @Rio28590561ut8t @Ton Frederiks @STUDIOLGLR @rockettemedia @eduardosalvador

Thank you all for bringing this issue to our attention. I have checked with our product team regarding the unknown error codes [UKCO] and [EnNS], and they are aware of the issue and currently working on a fix.

In order to better understand the issue, would you all mind providing us with more information, such as:

  • Does the issue occur with files created from earlier versions of Illustrator?
  • Are there any image-traced objects present in the affected files?
  • Are you attempting to retrace an object that has already been traced?

Your cooperation in providing us with this information would be greatly appreciated as we work towards resolving this issue.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Best,

Hi @Anshul_Saini ,

Does the issue occur with files created from earlier versions of Illustrator?

No, new files with freshly placed images (linked or embedded)

Are there any image-traced objects present in the affected files?

No, empty new files

Are you attempting to retrace an object that has already been traced?

No, first click on Image Trace

These errors did not happen in prerelease builds, just started after updating the installed version.

When the [UKCO] error appears and you click OK, you have 2 choices in the following dialog: The object "Image Tracing" is not currently available > Continue or Stop.

Both options will trace anyway but give different trace results. Although they give the following error after a while: The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error [EnNS]

I am having the exact same problems after the new update and image trace is now unusable, so frustrating. This is happening with brand new files, a couple of times I manage to get it to work, but the quality is bad, the presets don't work and the resulting image is unusable. My image is fairly simple too, just a black and white line drawing. I will follow the suggestions and revert to the earlier version of Illustrator and hope that works.

Hello @Lucy28570325pmsm,

We're sorry to hear that you're having trouble with Image Trace in the latest version of Illustrator. Could you let us know if the suggestions shared by Ton helped resolve the issue?
If not, we'd be happy to investigate this further. Would you be able to share a sample file and a screen recording of the problem you're encountering? Additionally, we recommend creating a UserVoice (https://illustrator.uservoice.com) and sharing it here so that other users can upvote it so our team can better understand the issue and prioritize a fix. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work towards a solution.

Thanks,

I  had exactly the same problem. I just downgraded my illustrator as Ton suggested, and it worked.  Wish the latest version works as we all pay for it monthly.
