Unable to clearly see anchor points & text base lines showing up white in Illustrator v25.4.1

Why are my anchor points and text base lines showing up white in 25.4.1? I can hardly see them. Drives me nuts when Adobe keeps changing things that are fine as is.

Anshul,

I am afraid that I still can imagine that it is a bug. I've seen it on different Mac machines, but apparently it only occurs under certain circumstances. And it may be a tricky bug/issue.

One similarity is that – as far as I can see – it only appears if either CPU Preview or Overprint Previev is turned on while objects are already selected.

There are a couple of other posts (including screenshots) that describe the same issue, by the way.

I will have to further investigate the matter.

I am exhausted not being able to solve this but I have one more point that might help you figure it out. When I open a file everything prviews correcty. When I open a 2nd file and it nests to the first file as tabs, the 2nd file anchor points are white. On the first file the achor points are colored per the layer it is on. Now when I unnest the 2 files from tabs to the desktop the anchor points preview correctly. I dont understand why this happens with the latest update to illustrator. Could it be the

NVIDIA GeForce GT 755M graphics card ?

Hi @Bill Zablackas,

We are sorry to hear that you are still facing the issue. I have checked that multiple users have reported this issue, and the only thing that worked for them was to uncheck the Large Tabs from the Illustrator preferences > Ui Scaling. Let us know if that helps.

Regards,

Hi there,

Sorry about the trouble you are facing. I would like to know if the steps suggested above by @Jeff Witchel, ACI worked for you? If not, I would request you to share a few more details along with the ones asked by Jeff:

  • Is the issue related to a specific document? If yes, could you please share a sample document with us? You can upload it to the Creative Cloud (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/share.html) and share the download link.
  • When did this start happening? Are there any recent changes made to your system? For example, any antivirus, system updates, or web extensions installed recently.
  •  A small video demonstrating the issue could be really helpful.
  • Check if show edges (ctrl/ cmd + h) is on?
  • Does turning on/off GPU Perfromance (ctrl/ cmd + k > GPU Perfroamnce > uncheck/ check GPU performance) helps resolve the issue?

Thanks & Regards,

Anshul Saini

I did make a couple changes to my illustrator preferences. Not sure which ones now.  So now it is back to normal. Everything is working GOOD.

I do not have GPU Performance clicked on. I haven't for a long time.

I am using my iMac (27-inch, Late 2013),  3.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5,  16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Mac OS Catalina 10.15.7.

Thanks everyone for the quick responses.

Regards

Bill Z

Lately I've seen this issue pretty often if either Overprint Preview or CPU Preview is turned on in the View menu (latest version of Illustrator on OS 10.14.6).

I think it is a bug.

Greetings @Kurt Gold,

I am afraid this is not a bug. Overprint Mode uses CPU Mode. We have just changed the naming convention:

  • (RGB/Preview has now become RGB /CPU Preview)
  • (RGB/GPU Preview has now become RGB/Preview)

This is why you see such change in Overprint mode also,
"RGB/ Overprint Mode" has now become "RGB/CPU Overprint Mode".
So, what you are seeing is an expected change.

I hope that clarifies it.

I am having the same issue. But do you have any instruction to fix this?

White? Can you provide a screenshot. Make sure to include the Layers panel.

Is this happening in all Layers of your document? Have you checked the Layer "color" being used in the Layers panel? Anchor points and baselines should be that Layer color. Double-click on the Layer to change the Layer color.

Is this happening in all documents?

Have you reset Preferences? https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/setting-preferences.html

What computer/system are you using?

I have been trying to figure this out since I posted this problem and narrowed it down to when I have windows open as tabs is where I get the problem.  Lately when I open one window it shows up as white points. Driving me nuts when I try to select points and move line segments... etc.  here are 3 screen shots: 1.) first artboard open and nested to artboard 2.     2.)second artboard open and nested to artboard showing all white points.  3.)Artboards are unnested to same window.
