how to reduce a dimension of a jpg

Hi,

 

I have a jpg file with a dimension of 5100*3300.

 

Is there any way to reduce it to, for example, 2732*2048?

Hosun,

 

5100 x 3300 > 2732 x 2048 will change the proportions and therefore distort the image.

 

If you wish to end up with 2732 x 2048 which is about 4:3 you may cut off in the side(s) to 5100 > 4400 (or 4402, the latter a wee bit more accurate) and scale down from 4400 x 3300 to 2732 x 2048; you can do that easily in the Transform palette by simply setting the W and H values, then Export at 72PPI or (Legacy) Save for Web (where you can check in the Image Size window).

 

Remember to Export/Save for Web from integer X and Y values (artwork/Artboard).

Jane masters both applications and knows almost infinitely more than I about PS, which is generally far superior for work with raster images, so also good to learn.

    Hi

    Do you have Photoshop? If so, use Image > Image size with Bicubic Sharpen (Reduction). Make a copy first; resize the original. In Illustrator, you can drag place instead of click the image, which will also change the effective ppi.
