Rectangle Tool stuck making parallelogram in illustrator

Hello!

Today when I opened an old project in illustrator my Rectangle Tool was making parallelograms instead of 90 degree corners for rectangles. I do not know how this setting happened.

My guesses are:

1) I accidentally clicked this preference in the program and don't know where to change it back, or

2) Last I opened this project before the 2017 update and wonder if it is a bug.

Thanks for you time!

Scott

Use Shift Command I, to toggle in and out of perspective grid.

That keyboard command is so close to check spelling Command I many people do the same, myself included.

Turn off perspective grid?

Excellent thought Monika!

Somehow I had switched this on unknowingly.

Thanks for the time, I appreciate it!

Is this happening to

All documents

  • Check that your preferences >> general >. Constrain Angle is set to 0°
  • Command E to toggle GPU preview - has been known to do many similar things, but parallelograms would be a first

One document Only

  • You may have an effect of free distort assigned to layer

If neither of these, please provide a screenshot or  more information to better diagnose what is going on. Does this look different in outline view.
