P: Archive edits doesn't archive edits (on Windows 11)

I just tested the new archive option in Lr Desktop 7.3. Therefore I used edited RAW and DNG files and exported them to my desktop. Both don't show the edits when opened up in ACR or after importing them into LrC. Bummer!

Setting status to investigating.

It looks like this happens only if you have edits on an image that have not synced to the cloud.

The workaround until a fix is released:

  1. Make an edit
  2. Go to grid
  3. Go back to the image in detail view and archive it.

I'm having the same problem with non-raw files.  I tested with a Cloud album that had a JPG, PNG, DNG and RW2.  When I archived the album, the resulting folder had the same files plus an .xmp for the RW2.  When I then opened that local directory in Lightroom Local, I could see the edits on the DNG and RW2, but not the JPG or PNG.

Can second that I'm having a problem with the archive locally feature too.

Lightroom 7.4.1 on macos 14.5.

Photos imported to ipad, edited, synced to cloud. Opened on Lightroom desktop, archive locally.

There was a matching .xmp for every raw file, but about 80% of them had completely zeroed out settings. Haven't tested thouroughly but when I right click the photo and export > original + settings it seems to write the xmp out correctly.

I have the same issue, is there a known problem or fix for this?

I found this workaround. After archiving locally (replace mode), select the photos,  right click on them and click on the function refresh.
Archiving by using the "keep both" mode, it does not have issues. It only happens with "replace" mode.

i will be testing that workaround myself, i'm curious what the actual issue is and why there has been no update since may 2024 on the "investigating" status

Sorry for answering that late @Rikk Flohr: Photography . I thought I had done it already: your workaround works! 😉

The workaround that @Riccardo Bonciani suggests doesn't do the trick for me:
1. To me it makes no difference if I use "replace" or "keepp both" because I don't archive to the original folder.
2. Since Lr doesn't write the edits to the DNG or to a sidecar file a refresh doesn't do anything.

Can confirm that version 8.0 fixes the issue with Archive not maintaining edits for JPG and PNG.  Yeah!!! 🙂
