P: Camera profiles won't sync to cloud

I facing an issue with my Lightroom Cloud, where the camera profiles are not being uploaded to the cloud. I'm adding these profiles using Lightroom desktop app for Mac, however as they are not syncing, they are not available on Mobile/Web.

I've tried everything, removed, added them back, reinstalled the software, cleaned cr_cameraprofiles directory as well as completely removed the catalog and rebuilt it from the cloud. But for some reason - while they are available locally in Mac Lightroom Application, they won't upload to the cloud. After installing them, the sync gets stuck (I guess in uploading...) sync indicator keeps spinning, but nothing happens. .Pausing/resuming sync, won't do much either. Removing the profiles stops the sync, but the problem is not solved.

I'm a software engineer, and it does seem obvious to me that the issue is on the server side, where those profiles are either refused or not correctly processed. I cannot however access upload logs that apparently are not produced by Lightroom and I have no ability to debug the issue myself.  Tried to look for help on the Lightroom support chat, but all they did 3 times was confirm that the issue existed and disconnect.

How do I move from here? Looks like I've tried everything, nothing works and I really need those profiles in my mobile app.

I'm using latest Lightroom version 7.0 on MacOS Sonoma.

The support team communicated this back to the thread as well. Thanks for the report.

Greetings all,

Updates for the Adobe Photography Products have been released.  The December 2023 updates contain an update for this issue.

If you do not see the update in your Creative Cloud Application, you can refresh it by hitting [Ctrl/Cmd]+[Alt/Opt]+[ R ].

Note: It may take up to 24 hours for your update to be available in your Creative Cloud app.

Thank you for your patience.

@Michael22003299xi88 You don't need to delete entire cloud library. You just need to remove the local copy of your library, it will then resync from the cloud. On Mac this is by default Lightroom Library.lrlibrary folder located in Pictures folder. If you want to avoid even that, you can dive further into Lightroom Library.lrlibrary folder and locate cr_cameraprofiles folder. Inside, you can remove all the files - after restart, sync will unstuck.

However, in my view you can safely just downgrade (at least that's what I did) and your stuck profiles would unstuck and get uploaded by the older version of software.

I tried downgrading to 6.5 but still no luck. Because it thinks the profiles are already installed it doesn't do anything with them.

@apf102That's what happened to me. I deleted the local files on my computer, downgraded and tried but still got the Profiles already exist/duplicate message.

That's why I had to resort to uninstalling Lightroom CC Desktop and my mobile versions, then delete lightroom library through lightroom web and then install v6. 5 and resync everything.

Then the profiles showed up in both Lightroom Web (which is a good way to test if everything synced and will show up in mobile versions) and all the mobile versions.

I was really hoping to avoid the complete deletion of my cloud profiles,
but if its the only way I guess I will.

When you did this, did the reinstalled LR 6.5 pull the profiles from your
Classic installation?

@apf102 I would try the way @szlach described first, to avoid deleting the entire library. If that doesn't work, here is what I did. NOTE: It is easier if you have your photos you want synced in an album/s in Lightroom Classic so this way, you just resync them after deletion.

I have a lot of synced photos so the whole process took me overnight. My process:

Delete Lightroom CC Desktop local files > Uninstall Lightroom CC Desktop v7.0 and all instances of Lightroom Mobile > Go to Lightroom Web and delete Lighroom cloud library > Start syncing albums from Lightrom Desktop > Install lightroom CC Desktop v6.5 > Import Presets and Profiles > Check Lightroom Web for presets and profiles while images are still syncing (Profiles and Presets should sync pretty quick and show up on the web).

Everything seemed to work fine after that. I have just kept v6.5 until they fix this issue,

Hope this helps!

@szlachThanks for the tips, unfortuantely I tried both approaches you mentioned & no dice –

- Deleted all of the camera profiles in cr_cameraprofiles, still stuck & can't import

- Deleted Lightroom Library.lrlibrary, restarted, and get the same "already imported" message trying to re-import those profiles.

I wonder if some of the profiles made it to the cloud and some didn't – I'll try importing them individually. This is all on 6.5 BTW.

@szlach Just kidding, your approach of deleting the cloud library worked; looks like it just took some time for things to sync up, but I have access to the profiles on mobile now. Cheers!

Same issue for me, had to downgrade to get Cobalt profiles to synch. Is there any update from Adobe? I hate to be having to use an old version just for things to work.

Yes, problem persists after the last update.

Good to vent here, but is someone even listening?

Additionally, only the plugins installed at the time of the downgrade synched. Ones I have added since downgrading will not synch. Super frustrating.

It seems that the issue has been resolved with the December update. My camera profiles are syncing properly now.

Maybe you give it another try after you installed the update. Good luck!

Unfortunately, I have an update on the issues which I find quite bizarre:

the version I was referring to when I wrote that it worked again was the Mac App Store version 7.1. That's the version that had been released by the end of November.
In the meantime, we got 7.1.1 and with this version, the issue seems to be back again 😞

Have the same issue for a while. Unfortunately no follow up or repairs done by Adobe team.

Today decided to try a trick with installing older version (6.5) and it worked fine. So, unfortunately, for a moment have to stick with the old LR version to make edits synchronization possible.

Hope Adobe team will address this issue soon, likely with next update.

Hi

I performed the update, both on my desktop and iOS app.

The issue or at least my issue reported here, hasn't been fixed.

Cobalt BW profiles keep reseting on the Mobile App (I described the issue a couple of times on this thread so I won't do it again).

😞

The status shouldn't be changed to "fixed".

@Pursewarden have you found a fix for this yet?

I just purchased the Elite BW profiles (not knowing this was an issue) and am facing the exact same problem. I'm fully updated on both Mac and iOS, and have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling everything.

Are there any updates here?
