Liebe Community,

Nico

Both operations are GPU-dependant.

What is the Mac OS Version Number?
If you go to Preferences>Performance how is your GPU configured?

The best next step is to attempt a reset of your preferences.

This procedure works for both Lightroom Classic and Lightroom Desktop.

If you are using Lightroom Desktop, it can change your local storage location. Please review this setting after resetting preferences.

Reset Procedure:

1. Close Lightroom.

2. Hold down [Alt/Opt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.

3. Overwrite the Preferences when prompted by the dialog.

4. Close Lightroom.

5. Restart Lightroom.

I've tried this, but unfortuantely it did not help.

I've downgraded to Lightroom 7.5 now again, and I don't experience any issues there. I guess you guys need to look into this once again and try to fix it with the next update.

I'm experiencing the same issue (macOS 15.0.1 on 2021 14" MBP w/M1 , Lr 8.0). When it gets into this "mode" the mouse only seems to act as a zoom control (little + magnifier). It's impossible to crop, mask, select white balance, remove/clone/heal... effectively anything that makes the mouse pointer change behaviour. The only remedy is to restart Lr.

Have tried the suggested fixes (reset settings, GPU etc.) to no effect.

This is a mouse pointer issue of some sort, new to 8.0.

Thanks,
Eric

I have seen this happen but haven't been able to figure out the steps to reproduce it. In my case, I moved quickly between the Remove and Masking tools - at least I think that was the trigger - but it's not consistent. At any rate, we're grateful to anyone who can help offer clues as to what they were doing directly before this happens.

When I try to use crop or mask tool, I am only able to use hand tool. This hasn't happened before the most recent update. I disable graphics processor as suggested, but no help. I was able to use the tools for a short while after a computer restart.

Yes, same for me. I keep restarting LR, because sometimes the cursor (and mouse action) stops working as required by the selected tool. For the healing tool (for instance, bu it works with most other like reframe), the displayed cursors can be the hand cursor, instaed of the circle, and clicking works as the hand, not as the healing tool. The cursod handling seems completely broken. Restarting is the only option. Another example : on the light curve view, the handles sometimes disappear. The only option is to restart LR or frantically move the mouse until they reappear. This happens on my Mac Studio and Intel iMac (LR 8.0, macOS Sequoia 15.1 (24B83)). Oh! And also, my Intel Mac always eventually crashes if harware acceleration is enabled (from what I read here and there it may be a buggy Apple graphics card driver). It happend also on my Mac Studio once (but only once, it's much more stable)
