P: Lightroom internals failed to initialize

Community Beginner ,
Jun 20, 2023 Jun 20, 2023

Hey All,

Since updating to the latest version of Lightroom (as of June 20th, 2023), this message pops up as soon as I press the app icon to open it on my Mac. It happens on my M1 mac as well as my Intel macbook pro.

Anyone else havbing this issue? It's rendered my business dead in the water until I can access my photos again.

Pete

Windows users: if you are running Windows N or KN, please try installing Microsoft's Media Feature Pack. This provides video functionality that we need. If we weren't crashing, we'd show you a nice warning about that.

Mac users, please try a full uninstall/reinstall. You may need to manually delete part of the app:
1. Uninstall Lr from the Creative Cloud app or the uninstall shortcut in the Lr folder.

2. Look in your Applications folder for "Adobe Lightroom CC" and, if it's still there, move it to the trash.

3. Reinstall Lr

Greetings all,

Updates for the Adobe Photography Products have been released.  The October 2023 updates contain a fix for this issue.

If you do not see the update in your Creative Cloud Application, you can refresh it by hitting [Ctrl/Cmd]+[Alt/Opt]+[ R ].

Note: It may take up to 24 hours for your update to be available in your Creative Cloud app.

Thank you for your patience.

"login server error 'connection _error': Error with registration PUT: Could not resolve host: photos.adobe.io"

I keep getting the same error message when opening lightroom. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, changing my firewall settings, running the "Limited Access Repair Tool",  I tried installing an older version of Lightroom and still the same...

This started a couple of days ago, and I have no idea why. One day it was working, the next it was giving me this.

When I click "OK" the app just closes.

I've seen others with similar issues, and I have attempted the solutions on other issues, but none of them work

I'm on a MacBook Air (M1 2020), macOS Sonoma Version 14.1.2

I've tried on both Lightroom 7.0 and 6.5

Please Help, thank you.

It sounds like something changed with your firewall or network. You might consider turning off your firewall briefly just as a troubleshooting measure. You need to be able to reach the endpoints listed at https://helpx.adobe.com/enterprise/kb/network-endpoints.html

Any chance you are in a corporate or school setting that uses a proxy? If so, check out additional guidance at https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/proxy-authentication-support-creative-cloud.html

new macbook, Apple M3 Pro, Sonoma 14.6

tried to install LR (version 7.4.1) and LRC (version 13.4) from creative cloud and get that typical error message followed by a message that it can not initialize CameraRAW. Downloaded latest version of CameraRAW, reinstalled LR and LrC, but did not help.

Followed most of the suggestions posted here before. What is the problem?

best, Jules

LATEST

This was happening to me as well on my MacBook Pro.

I figured out how to fix it by going to Settings > Network then clicking on my Ethernet Connection at the top of the list.  Then click "Details".  I had "Limit IP Address Tracking" ON...I turned it off and Lightroom worked again immediately.

Good luck, friends!
