P: Problem sharing images on Instagram

New Here ,
Sep 04, 2025 Sep 04, 2025

Since downloading the latest version of Lightroom for iPhone, I have been unable to post photos on Instagram. I keep getting error messages. I removed both apps and reinstalled them, but they did not solve the problem. The same thing happens on my iPad. I think it's a bug in the latest version of LR.

Hi @default1y5hub6a61ks, welcome to the community!

Could you share a few more details about the issue you’re seeing? What’s the exact error message, and if possible, could you upload a screenshot of the error dialog?

Also, it’d be helpful to know what version of iOS and iPadOS you’re currently using on your devices.

Thanks so much!
Alek

Hello @Aleke

I have the same issue.  I no longer can post directly from Lightroom mobile to Instagram using the Share button nor Export, only if I use the dedicated Instagram button (which I never use, because Instagram horrible distorts my photos when I try to post from their site, hence my use of Lightroom).  Each time I try to send a photo as a post, I get the message "Error, something went wrong".  I am using an iPhone 15 updated to iOs 18.6.2 and Lightroom v 10.50.  This has just happened in the last week or two.  Thanks for your help as I currently cannot post at all on Instagram.

Thanks for your quick reply.

I am using LR v10.50 on my iPhone with OS 18.6.2.  My iPad is running LR v10.51 with OS 18.6.2 The same results occur with different photos. This is a new problem.  I never had this issue until I downloaded the LR updates.  I am running the latest versions of Instagram on both devices.

Below are chronological screen shots leading to the error message. I normally select POST, but the same error message appears when I select REEL, STORY or MESSAGE. Note the additional images (similar to lines of text) that appear on the thumbnails appearing next to these options.

As noted in my original message, I deleted both apps from my devices and reinstalled them, but the same thing happens.  I’m convinced it’s a bug with the latest LR mobile app.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Hey, @default1y5hub6a61ks & @kdhphoto. Thanks for the updates. If you've used email to reply and send attachments, attachments are discarded. Please open this conversation in a browser and attach the workflow screenshots to the community platform.

Also, make sure Lightroom and Instagram have full permissions to access the mobile images from the iPhone/iPad Settings > App Settings list > Settings pages for Lightroom and Instagram.

Thanks!

Hello @Aleke @Sameer K  both Instagram and Lightroom have full permissions to access mobile images, so that's not the issue for me.  Thanks.

Thanks for sharing the update. Do you see this error with specific images with a specific set of edits? Were these images imported from the same device or a desktop? Could you share a video of your workflow starting from the edits > to export?

Thanks!

Here are the screen shots showing my work flow when posting LR images to Instagram. This is the same process I've used for a long time, but it stopped working after I downloaded the latest version of LR mobile for iPhone and iPad.  This happens with ALL images, not just a few.

@Sameer K @Aleke the error is with any type of edit or no edit at all.  I make very few edits when I have posted on Insta in the past, using photos I've taken with my iPhone 15 as well as with my Leica.  Usually, the edits are cropping to 4:5 and maybe a filter, that's it.  When I've tried to post in the last few days, I've posted exactly as I have for the last year through Lightroom, and now there's an error.  I'll send screen shots of the process via the Share button (which has the same result as the Export option).  This is a photo I took last week with my iPhone 15, no edits at all.
