P: Lightroom Classic>Edit in PS: Long Delay+Erroneous Error Message opening Ps Beta 2024 25.0

I just recently updated Photoshop Beta to 2024 v25.0 on my Windows 11 machine.

Now when I try to open photos from LR 12.4 using the "edit in...", it hangs up for a time and then comes up saying "The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop 2024 could not be launched."

When I hit "Ok" it then opens the file in Photoshop 2024. 

This happens with every file, even if Photoshop 2024 is already up and running at the time. 

This does not happen with 2023 v24.7.

go to notification setting at the bottom of the email and then choose notifications and uncheck the boxes that you want to stop - it doesnt seem to have a "this thread option"?

When working on mac - command E to edit into PS Beta - Beta open but the photo file does not open and therefore cannot edit the image.  Is there a fix.  Beta is up to date.

Same issue here!! It's driving me nuts. Can't open anything from lightroom to PS beta as usual.

Everytime I export through lightroom to do edits, it doesnt go through. I usually have to export 5-10 times, then eventually it opens, but it usually takes at least 2 minutes before it opens.

I have the newest update as of 8/5/23 wokring on macbook pro m1.

Selecting an image in Lightroom, library grid veiw

Right click, select open in photoshop (beta)

Photoshop opens but the file does not load. 

File open (in photoshop) from the home menu does open the file.

No Problems with PS v.24.6

When wishing to edit an image in photoshop from Lightroom, the 'edit in photoshop 2024' drop down is not transferring the images. Photoshop 25 beta opens but the image isn't loaded.

Same issue here on Mac Monterey! Similar dialog boxes. Please help fast it is crippling my workflow. I tried installing an older version of the beta (one that worked a few weeks ago) and the Generative Fill function was gone. I'm back with 25.0 beta.

In Lightroom you can typically transfer a photo into Photoshop by navigating Photo > Edit In > Edit in Photoshop (Beta).  Photoshop will open but the file does not appear.  Lightroom gives this error message: The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop (Beta) could not be launched.

After some time sometimes the photo does open up, but only after quitting and restarting Photoshop several times, and not reliably.  This has been happening for about a week, and was previously transferring smoothly, even in with the Beta.

I have the same issue. I don't know why it's not working anymore. I didn't have a problem with the previous version of Beta and now I cannot open PS or Beta from LR - it would open it but the image doesn't show up at all.

In Lightroom Classic (latest version), the Edit In Adobe Photoshop 2024... is not working after the last photoshop update (version 25).

Open as Smart Object in Photoshop... on the other hand, opens the photo in Photoshop but doesn't create a Smart Object layer.

After installing the update to Photoshop Beta to version 25.0, it is no longer possible to tansfer RAW files from Lightroom Classic to Photoshop Beta, it also affects Photoshop 24.7.0 non beta release.  Photoshop opens from Lightroom when selecting edit with Photoshop but the image does not open in Photoshop.

I have had to roll back to the 24.7 beta version.  Other file formats, .jpg and tiff still work as they should.

I have Windows 11 on a destop PC.

Hi, I noticed in a message from CoryShubert that "On August 14th at 11am Pacific time versions of the Photoshop (beta) application older than version 25 will lose access to the Generative AI features."

I do hope that this means that the bug between LRC and PSbeta v25.0 has been addressed?????

I've currently rolled back to PSbeta v24.7 which restored normal functioning but if v25.0 still has problems then this will effectively remove Generative AI from my workflow.

Fingers crossed for a fix.

My solution is to create a virtual copy first. And then edit in Photoshop Beta as original. That's my solution. In case if still Photoshop Beta is not launching, I open a recent photos in it and then try to to launch it from LC.

Running PS Beta V25 and LR V12.4 on Mac Mini Ventura13.4  PS Beta will not open files transferred from LR but if I wait until the error message pops up and press OK then it opens up the file and seems to work and also transfers it back to LR.

When will this be fixed and how will we know?

I have just set the "official" PS as my alternative editor and use that.
