Thanks @Fotomaker01RA we see you have a lot of third party plugins, have you tried launching Ps Beta without them?  Trying to make sure we solo out any possible issues...

"If you're troubleshooting unexpected behavior in Photoshop, then a third-party plug-in could be causing the problem. Hold the Shift key then start Photoshop and you'll get a notice asking you whether or not you would like to skip loading plug-ins."

Hi Cory,

The Ps Remove Tool worked fine with Ps Beta release 26.6 & with my running version of Ps production release (which is not the current Adobe release). Including the same plugins.

I have to be able to use the plugins I have installed on both computers for seamless image processing workflows. Cannot be hopping in and out of Ps & standalone apps (b/c not efficient).

My YT recording schedule calls for me to record/publish the 1st comparison ('shootout') video this Friday; I mentioned my viewers requested it above. The 1st video in the series will be Ps vs Affinity Photo 2 working with Selections & Remove/Inpainting tools. Subscribers to my channel are concerned about the Ps plan & credit changes, price/subscription increases (and, some end user agreement related points). They are a mix of ppl deciding which program to go with & whether or not to switch from Ps. I've committed to record/publish that video this Friday.  I was hoping my Ps Remove Tool in release 26.10 would behave as it did (with the same 3rd party plugins to Ps as host) with the Ps beta 26.6. I honestly figured Ps would blow the alternatives out of the water and it would be a no-brainer choice.. Now, this Remove Tool issue is a snafu in that assumption.

My production release of Ps (on my other Win 11 PC) has significantly more 3rd party plugins than the laptop running the beta. I rely on interspersing those apps' tools with my native Ps features in an integrated workflow.

Does this mean that from this time forward users cannot work with established 3rd party plugins in Ps for an integrated workflow? If so, I want to be accurate & mention that in my upcoming product comparison video too. It could be a critical post-processing host/product evaluation factor to current or potential users of either compared product. It would be to me.

Thanks!

p.s. Could you please provide a list of the 3rd party plugins that are compatible with and run in Ps/Ps beta without impacting the functionality of native Ps tools?

@Fotomaker01RA
Thank you for sharing the new System Info. I see the drivers are up-to-date.
Can you try the following?
1. Select "Gen AI off" Mode in the Remove Tool option bar and run removal. Do you see the program error?

2. If the program error still occurs, go to Edit > Preferences > Image Processing, select "More stable" for Remove Tool Processing, relaunch PS, and try 1) again. Do you still see the program error?

3. If the program error still occurs, open an image with some wires and try Wire Removal by opening the [Find distractions] in the Remove Tool option bar and clicking [Wires and cables]. Does it remove the wires without the error?
4. Open an image with many people and try People distractor removal by opening the [Find distractions] in the Remove Tool option bar and clicking [People]. Does it highlight the destructive people without the error?

Thank you!

@Fotomaker01RA we do not trouble shoot 3rd party plugins in Ps Beta as it is up to the makers of these plugins to support Ps. Many will not release updates for Ps Beta and only will for the release version.  From time to time, as Ps Beta adds new features and enhances the Ps backend, certain plugins become erratic or can cause issues.  Many/most plugins continue to work, but that is why we ask to disable them to see IF in fact one of them is causing your specific system setup an issue.

Because this is a beta version, it may not perform the same as the final release. Adobe outlines this in the End User License Agreement you accepted when installing the software. Specifically, beta or evaluation software is provided 'as-is' and is intended for testing and feedback purposes only. Adobe does not guarantee stability, performance, or feature completeness in beta versions, and any use of output files created with it is at your own risk.

Your corroporation is appreciated and working with the team to see why this is happening to your system is why we want to go through the possiblitites to narrow down what might be the root cause.

Hang in there, we have the right people trying to figure this out for you, and we will.

Thanks,

Cory - Photoshop Product Manager

Would you mind sending us the logs?
1. Navigate to C:\Users\<User>\
1-1AppDataPath.gif

If you don't see the "AppData" folder, go to the View menu and select Show > Hidden items.

2. Navigate to
C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop (Beta)\Adobe Photoshop (Beta) Settings

3. Place the pslogSettings.txt in the folder. I sent to your email.

4. Launch Photoshop (Beta).

5. Open a file and perform the Remove Tool that triggers the program error. Exit Photoshop.

6. Navigate to
C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop (Beta)\Logs
You will see the files begin with "pslog_" and send the pslog text files to ykagita@adobe.com

Yuko,

I'm just seeing this @5p PDT 8/6/25. I'll try to gather the Logs you've requested to forward to you.

At the C: appdata > roaming > adobe path I see a variety of Logs types since my Aug. 1 update from 26.6 beta rel. (in which Remove Tool worked with my implementation - plugins, etc.) to the 26.10 beta rel. (in which Remove funcs. fail - as they did in 26.8-9 also). Some prefixes are UXPLogs as well as the one pslog_  See snip. To clarify - you're only interested in the 8/1 "pslog_"? Or, most recent UXPLogs_?  Thx.

=========== Pls see email reply. When the error occurs, two logs are generated... a pslog and an uxplog. I sent both to be safe.

@Yuko K.

1 - Yes, with 'Gen AI Off' in Options Bar Remove still produces the Error Msg. As does Auto or Use Gen AI.

2-  Yes, the Program Error still appears with Prefs > Image Processing set to 'More Stable' vs 'Faster'. I exit then restart Ps beta after Pref change.

3-  No, Wires are not automatically ID'd with an overlay for removal. The image remains the same. I'll attach a snip of how it looked in the Ps beta UI after I clicked on Wires under Distractions in the Options Bar. You'll see it looks like how my image appeared when opened.

4- No, People are not automatically ID'd with an overlay for removal (or, selective editing). The image remains the same. Ditto, snip of test image attached and how it looked after I'd clicked the people distraction removal option.

FYI - for all tests, I've tried testing with and without an empty (transparent) layer above a content (pixel?) layer. In other words, I tried to Remove on the content/pixel layer and also tried to Remove on an empty layer (that I could mask, modify, etc) above the content layer. Same error msgs no matter which approach. I have Sample All Layers checked on in the Options Bar.

For #3-4 above - I get the red msg box Tool Not Activated when attempting to remove the distractions. But do not get the white error msg box that says something in the program failed - as I do when trying to remove objects/areas in other instances.

If relevant, I've made no changes to my laptop running the Ps beta since wks before I updated to 26.10 on Aug 1. Other than the driver updates you suggested I run, I have not added or changed versions of any software I've been running (including what was running on rel. 26.6 - which had no issues with Remove Tool).

Here's how my test images for #3-4 appeared with the Remove Tool active and my having clicked on each of the respective Distractions categories in the Options Bar. Nada. No overlay auto appears:
