P: Error PS version 25.7.0. User defined correction presets stop working

When upgrading to version 25.7.0, user-defined correction presets stop working. We can not see a particular pattern based on which some work, some dont. Those presets that don't work, are greyed out and it says they are incompatible, however, this does not make sense, since other presets who do the same thing continue to work.

This is not a minor thing. We built a variety of presets which many of our customers are using and all of them are now facing the same problem.

Thanks for reporting this. We have been able to reproduce the issue and have passed it on to the product team to investigate.

I found that it failed on the following blend modes:

Darken, Color burn, Darker color, Lighten, Color dodge, Lighter color, Difference, Exclusion, Subtract, Divide, Hue, Saturation, Color, Luminosity.

The rest worked normally.

You should see the fix in the latest Beta build: 20240519.m.2625.

I found out why they were greyed out. Before the update, I could add an adjustment layer in any blend mode I wanted.

After the update, All adustment layers MUST be in NORMAL blend mode or they will get greyedout. I used to use the Curve adjustment layer to add detail to a composition and I would set the layer to Luminosity, as to not affect the color. I saved as a preset and I could use it on whatever I wanted, even after I closed Photoshop. Now, after the update. it gets greyed out because of the aujustment layer's blend mode. Adobe continues to break what isn't broken with their sad updates. They should fix what they broke first, then submit that as an update. I remember when they introduced Neural Filters. They didn't work for a month and Liquify became broken. If you click on "About Photoshop", you can see a plethora of people that create this program. To think all these people are getting paid to screw up one program.

Same here. Most of the color grading presets I made were not useable as they contained blend modes. I rolled back to 25.6 and all work again.

I'm going to rollback and see what happens. This is the problem with adobe an their updates. They break things that aren't broke, while trying to introduce things and fix things that don't need repair. I don't get it. Thanks for your reply.

You're right! I just rolled back to 25.6 and all my previously made presets are back as they were when I created them. Why does Adobe continue to break something and call it an update? They're not making it better, they're making it worse. You saved me a lot of headaches. Thanks again for your reply.

While this is being solved, here's a workaround:

Open an image where you've previously applied the preset - it should be in a folder.

If appropriate, remove all of the layer masks from each adjustment.

Also if appropriate, reset the individual adjustment settings to their correct settings for that preset (may not be known).

Open the Libraries panel and create an Adjustments library.

Drag the folder to the new Adjustments library.

When applying from the Library, hold down Opt/Alt and drag to your layer stack.

Removing the masks first is necessary to allow the adjustments to apply to the entire canvas, instead of being overlaid from the source document.

This isn't a great solution since most of us will have modified presets when applying them to other images, but it may save at least a little frustration until Adobe works this out. Also, the Library panel will not show a proper thumbnail for the adjustment stack, so be sure to use a good descriptive name.

Hello!

I believe I’ve found a temporary solution to our problem! I’ve noticed that when a document is created in Photoshop 25.6.0 and then opened in Photoshop 25.7 ‒ The following steps can be taken:

1 ‒ Ensure that all layers are set to 100% opacity/fill (unfortunately, this is necessary).
2 ‒ Select all your layers, excluding the document itself.
3 ‒ Now, you can create a new preset!

I hope this helps! And yes, Adobe… please hurry up and fix this issue!!

I forgot to mention that all your layers must be in normal mode. Sorry!
