Hi all, we have this logged and the team is investigating.

Things to try:
One thing to look at trying regarding the Save dialog not working, is to change Preferences > File Handling > Default File Location from "Creative Cloud" to "On your computer". This skips the UXP Cloud save dialog and goes to the local hard drive save options.

We have fixed this issue with the latest Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop app update. Please update the Creative Cloud Desktop app if you still see this problem.

Hi @austind23 a couple of things -

1. Your GPU driver is over 4 months old check for updates.

2. You may more than one GPU a discreet UHD (underpowered) and your GTX. Heres how to resolve this:

  • Windows 10/11: Users/[user name]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop [version]/Adobe Photoshop [version] Settings

and rename this to .OLD

But this is a bit of a hit or miss...

Windows 10/11: Users/[user name]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop [version]/Adobe Photoshop [version]

Rename to  .OLD so, Adobe Photoshop 2023  is now  Adobe Photoshop 2023.old

Hi - we're getting the same issue on our fleet of Intel iMacs (2017) running Monterey with version 24.0.1 at our University: resetting preferences isn't fixing it. The same adobe account is working on some and not others, all builds are identical. Have tried deleting Mac account and recreating, still same issue. Have logged in on the same machine with a different Adobe account, first account doesn't work, second account does. No equivalent issue with Illustrator etc. so far. Will need a fix as soon as possible as students cannot save work.  Thanks

@CoryShubert heading over to

Preferences > File Handling > Default File Location from "Creative Cloud" to "On your computer".

There is no setting called Default File Location on my app. There was an update not few moments ago and it didn't solve the issue. Any other way to disable this?

I've been looking for a way to disable save to cloud for a while, since our IT department has turned off cloud features. I tried what you suggested, but there is no option to change the default file saving location, only the local working directory.

This fixed it for me, too! I took an existing JPG, dragged it into open Photoshop, and saved it as a different name. Then I went to open a file and got the regular open file dialog box!

@Peter28912139rkdo it should unless you have permissions issues with the supporting folder. Thats a different issue altogether.

Hi Cory,

I am also having this issue in my new Mac Lab at our high school. All of our Macs are running on the M1 chip and have plenty of RAM. I upgraded the whole lab to Ventura yesterday. As an Adobe administrator, I can follow your suggestion to go to Settings>File Handling> and change the Default File Location to On Computer and I was able to save successfully, but only for my login. The students do not even have the option to change the Default File Location with their login. Thank you for your efforts with this. Like the other instructors, I am most anxious for a solution so I can get the students back to work.

There was an update today that was pushed and it fixes the issue

The fix seems to be working after restarting the computers today. I did still have to go to the Mac OS settings> Privacy and Security>Full Disk Access and allow Photoshop for some of the computers but all are now working.

This is unacceptable, requiring Photoshop to call home via Creative Cloud before saving. I've now lost three hours of work because I can't save my document. Forcing Creative Cloud into everything is detrimental to people who rely on this software to just *work*.

You dont have to save to Creative Cloud .... you can jsut save to your own desktop on your own computer. Or what I do is save the my computer inside the Creative Cloud folder... so its on my desktop AND in the Creative Cloud!

Right, but the entire point of this thread was discussing a bug that prevents you from local saves entirely. Where I would normally see the choice between saving to my computer or creative cloud is now a blank window.

For anyone else having this issue, I was able to resolve it by changing the recovery save interval to 5 minutes, waiting 5 minutes, force closing Photoshop, opening Photoshop to the recovered document then saving like normal. Luckily it worked with the recovery file, but even getting the error in the first place is entirely unnacceptable for industry lead software, especially given the prices Adobe demands.
