Lines when using the Brush tool in photoshop

Anytime I try and use the brush tool, it creates a straight line. I have been looking for a solution to this problem but haven't seen anyone have the same issue. I only have this issue with photoshop.
The drawing tablet I am using is the Veikk VK1200. Any help would be much obliged.

The issues discussed in this thread are unlikely related to any issues you are having unless you have not updated in the last two or three years. So please start a new thread. Tell us your Photoshop version? Operating system and version?

Describe in as much detail as you can manage what your issue is, and if you think it would help, please provide a full res screenshot of your entire workspace showing the document window and layers panel.

There's every chance we can help you fix the problem you have now.

Hi, are you using wintab or windows ink?.

It might be useful to post the contents of help/system info so that we have more data about your machine.

Where is the rest of your Photpshop System Information???? Here is what mine looks like. You do seem toe be using WinTab not INK. You could try to reconfigure for INK. I see the following in the the part of the information you posted. You doe nor remove PSUsrConfig.txt

Does the tablet driver have any presets that might be causing this? I found a reference to a 'ruler test' which 'produced lovely straight lines' in this Amazon review There will be a way to turn off the tablet presets. This review also refers to the tablet being able to produce straight lines.

To be honest. I'm not sure. I have reviewed the manual again and it doesn't seem like there is any fix. I'm just thinking it's an issue in photoshop since every other program seems to be working with no issue.

There was also problems in several version of Photoshop where Adobe broke Photoshop WinTab support where using your Tablet Pen with Photoshop tools creates stray limes from the Pen Tip towards the top left or your display. The Problem however, has been address and is not present in Photoshop versions 2020, 2021 and 2022.

I just look at the image you attached in you first appemd. It look like the WinTab problem Adobe had in many Photoshop Updates. It has been fixed. Switch to using INK if you do not want to switch to a newer version of Photoshop.

The way tablet Pens work by default is as soon as the pen touches the surface there a left Click and hold and the slightest pen movement draws a line in the direction of movement. Chances are good that the touch down point is not on the end of the line you want to draw and the direction of the line drawn is not in the direction of the line you want to draw. If you configure the pen not to click on contact you need to set a pen or tablet button to left click so you can use it to lay down brush strokes with your pen. In My case I just switch to my mouse when I want to lay down straight lines with a brush type tool. I position the cursor left click move the cursor and Shift+Click to draw the line I want. My Tablet Pen does not disable my mouse. So I can use either device with the a Brush type tool.

IMO on Windows WinTab Pen Interfaces works better with Photoshop then Microsoft INK interface. Windows, Photoshop and Tablet all need to be configured correctly for Pens to work well with Photoshop.

I use WinTab Pen interface with Photoshop No Stray Lines.

with Brush xSet a brush size for the weight of the line you want and stet the color, blending and opacity of the brush. Position the brush to one end of the line and left click once. Move the brush to the other end of the line and Shift+Click once, To contine the line move and Shift+Click.

For lines a Mouse is better than a Pen you have better positioning control with Brush and Line Tool. Brush is easier to continue lines then the line tool. But the Line Tool supports arrowheads.

Might want to also look into updating whatever GPU driver your system is using, if you can. (Try also disabling GPU accleration via Edit (Photoshop on Mac) > Preferences > Performance > Graphics Processor Settings > Use Graphics Processor. If it works without issue when disabled, then it's definitely the GPU driver.)
