Photoshop update to v24.2 fails on my M2 Mac mini and then corrupts my currently installed version (it does not open and displays error saying elements of the app are missing). I had to reinstall v24.1.
UPDATED: NEW LINK
Everyone, would it be possible for you to share your installer log when trying to install the 24.2 build? Feel free to email to shubert@adobe.com

Thank you,

you probably need to install rosetta 2. among the ways to do this is to start Photoshop with the Intel version*. here are two other ways, How to Install Rosetta 2 on Apple Silicon Macs (osxdaily.com)
that's been the solution to a recent surge in mac problems (with new apple silicon macs) caused by premiere pro (and after effects) installs resulting in exit code 183.
there are also the older problems and fixes, https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/kb/fix-error-183.html,
but you should try the rosetta 2 install first, because its absence is most likely the cause of your problem.
*Go to Applications > Photoshop > Open the Photoshop Folder > Click the Photoshop Application within the Photoshop folder
Then hold Control > Get Info > Check the box for Open with Rosetta

@Flawless_Wizard15B9 As far as I can google, Photoshop is written in C++. Lua is only used for some parts of Lightroom such as the UI. But I'm not going to pretend I know anything about coding... 😉
I think we can safely assume that the engineers are doing what they can to fix this as quickly as possible. Nobody wants stuff that doesn't work out there

Just spent 4hours on chat with Adobe trying to sort this out. MacBook M1 2021 Monterey 12.6.3 photoshop 24.1.1 was working fine but updated to 24.2 what a nightmare! Got the same message and error 183, then uninstalled and reinstalled 24.1.1 worked fine but advisor then said let's try again should work.... it didn't 24.2 fail. Went back to reinstall 24.1.1 for last time and I can't now, not available. Where has it gone and how can I get it back? I don't really want to install an even older version than I originally had. I'm not techy so this is a nightmare for me as I can't remote share screen with an advisor even. Help please. How can I get 24.1.1 back? Thanks

Hi @bob28174178nwor your error log confirms an exit 183 error.
Do you have any anti-virus software running? Try disabling it and then installing.

Just my personal opinion - this is an Adobe problem, not an Apple problem. Apple released the first M1 Mac in November 2020.

yes, there should, at least, be a warning or informational message about the need for rosetta 2 when installing.

Hi @Flawless_Wizard15B9 your entitled to your opinion but if you read the thread there are users confirming successful installs and updates on both M1 and M2 Macs. Me being one of them.
The error 183 tends to be caused by an antivirus software preventing permissions to write resources to the proper directory. I resovled this a long time ago after having the same issue with 2020 CC updates. I switched to another solution and haven't had issues since.
Anyone having the -183 exit error - are you running AntiVirus software on your Mac?

@Kevin Stohlmeyerin my case, i ran into the 183 error before and after doing a whole clean install of macOS Ventura 13.2.1. I didnt have ANY anti-virus software installed nor did i activate the firewall in network settings. actually, right after the initial setup up process, i instantly downloaded creative cloud and tried to install 14.2 photoshop. Therefore, i tried to isolate the problem as much as possible to avoid any software conflicts but still didnt work until i installed Rosetta 2 which a lot of users do not want to do.

@JLKiller Sounds like until an M2 native app is available (currently M1) Rosetta 2 may be the only option.

understood about rosetta 2 installation, but i don't think you have much choice if you're going to currently use ps.

Thanks for the Rosetta advice....however I unistalled all versions of PS, there were two on there and in safe mode somehow managed to get back the original 24.1.1 so now I am stopping! will not be updating to 24.2 - cannot go through all that again! No idea what happened there at all...
