Photoshop 26.0.0 - Looong time to save TIFF files

Hi!  Since I installed PS 26.0.0, saving TIFF files (no matter of which size) takes a long time to be saved.  Sometimes up to 10 minutes.  More than half after reaching 92% saving.  It does not make a difference to use my internal hard disk

 

How to optimize saving time?  Thanks!

 

My computer:  Apple M1 Max / 32GB / OS:  Sonoma 14.0

Do you know how the TIFFs file were saved?

Uncompressed? (Shortest save time)

Compressed using the LZW option? (Acceptable save time, usually)

Compressed using the ZIP option? (Smallest file but very slow save times, especially with very large files)

 

If you think they might be TIFF ZIP, try resaving one as TIFF uncompressed or TIFF LZW, and see if that saves fast enough for you. If it does, then for the rest of the files you”ll need to decide which is more important: Faster saving, or smaller file size.

    So that’s

    Image Compression = None

    Layer Compression = RLE

    I just ran some tests and that should be one of the faster combinations.

    The slowdown after 92% is usually something seen only if compression, especially ZIP, is applied to the TIFF files.

     

    If it’s slow for you then some more questions might help troubleshoot it…

    • What are the width and height of the document, in pixels? 
    • How many layers are there in the document?

    As either of those gets larger, the longer the save time is.

     

    Also, how much faster is it if you use Trevor.Dennis’ suggestion above to disable PSD/PSB compression and save as PSD or PSB?

      Raul, my initial search on the web for "adobe.com:photoshop takes long time to save tif" turned up dozens of reports. I've just read the headers of these posts and have not clicked on any to reveal the details.

      How much free space is on your storage drive?

      TIF file details -- how many layers? File size in (mega-giga-tera)bytes?
