Search box not working when trying to open new file in Photoshop 21.0.2 on windows 10

Can't use search box for finding files when trying to open new. Nothing can be entered into the explorer search box that comes up when file-open is selected in Photoshop.

I am running windows 10 pro.. I have the newest photoshop and the search box does not work for me in it either.

All of my other apps work. If it is disabled then how do you go about getting it enabled in photo shop?

I reverted back to an earlier build of Photoshop - 21.0.1 release ...and it works again.

Hi there,

Would you mind sharing a screenshot of the search box you're referring to? The File open dialog in Photoshop, opens up the operating system explorer window. Are you able to search for file using search outside Photoshop?

Search file in Open dialog box is disabled in Windows 10 home edition.

How to reproduce this…

From Adobe Photoshop Photoshop 21.0.2 file menu > Open
Open dialog box appears
Search text filed at the top right corner of this Open dialog box is disabled.

I tested this and verified three things:

Photoshop Photoshop 21.0.2: still not working. The search box is disabled and cannot enter any texts. Please see attached photoshop_not_working.png file.
Lightroom classic 9.1: working. Able to enter a text in search text box. Please see the screenshot named light_room_classic_working.
Photoshop 2017.1.1: working. Please see Photoshop2017_working.png
