Whats The Quickest way To Copy A Lot of layers Into a New Document?*

*  I imported a piece of video as layers. Lets call it 80 layers long.  Over each layer I created a new layer and traced the moving animal into the new layer.  Now I have 160 layers.  I want to copy only the traced layers into a new document.  Is there a quicker way to do that than selecting, copying, and then pasting each and every layer individually?

If the layers are contiguous, I first put them all in a layer group (folder), because I think it's easier to just drag that one group to the other document.

Conrad.... I think placing them into a group folder and then dragging them over is very wise!  Keep things oderly and plus you can always move layers around later.  Great thought!

You can use the Layer menu > Duplicate Layers command, or manual methods to drag-n-drop layers between files. Then there are other options such as saving adjustment layer presets or using the Apply Image command.

I suppose the quickest method would be:

1) image-->Duplicate

2) multi-select the layers you don't want, and delete them

3) save the image with a new file name

Done.

To select multiple layers use Shift or Ctrl + click.  Shift + click will grab everything between the starting and ending point.  Ctrl + click is more selective.

Once layers are selected  drag,  hold & drop  into a new document tab.
