Not only photoshop, all of softwares by adobe.

Many artists who using adobe products don't want to using & supporting generative ai at all.

we have rights to opt-out from these things like generative ai tools in software, unwanted ads and nofitications.

It would be really helpful to be able to switch off generative AI when using Photoshop tools.

Agreed - the user should be given the choice as to when and when not to use AI

We now have (at least) two threads requesting this.

If a moderator spots this, could you merge them? Here's the other:

Thank you! I know adobe's generative ai policy is more ethical and candid than other unethical and dishonest companies but many users really don't want to use generative ai to their works. thanks for hearing the voice of users.

We need to have the option, as those of us using PS to fine tune our images for competitions are not allowed to include any external data in our images.

I've up voted this suggestion. I like the idea to have the choice.
Check box in preferences to opt-in and/or opt-out sounds good.

Yes, adding that I too would like a very easy and clear way to turn genAI off and be sure it would not even inadvertantly get used. (And better yet if it is off by default and you have to enable/opt-in).

Yes, opt out of generative features *and* disable internet access for the features that can/do use it so it can't happen by mistake

I find this to be an interesting idea but for a different reason than you have stated. I'm a graphic designer working for a large company and we recently posted an image on LinkedIn that would be very inapropriate to have been made with AI. LinkedIn has this new feature where it identifies to users what photos have AI in them and, even though this photo had not been made with AI, there was some sort of glitch and it labeled this photo as if it had. Anyways, panic insued and I ended up having to take a screenshot of my design as a work around.

If this feature of turning off AI while working on images that absolutely can't have AI in them was available, that would be helpful to make sure nothing is getting in there that could earn an AI lebel like we had to deal with.

I work in a school and this would be incredibly helpful for our photography students (GCSE and A Level) who are under strict guidelines from examination boards and moderators. To be able to prove everything is their own work is really important. IMHO, they also need to learn to walk before they can run - to understand what goes on under the hood, so to speak. (As an aside, l recently bought myself a new iPad and have been playing around on it this morning in PS for iPadOS. It baffles me that there is no basic radial gradient option, but that you could potentially use generative AI to create one?! Like making me drive to the local shops in a Hummer when all I wanted to do was walk...) So, yes an option to choose (and prove) would be very welcome.

I am now only using PS and LR without AI, and only for client work. And increasingly going back to film and printing my own, scanning only for indexing. The whole AI thing is diminishing my passion for photography.

It’s a valid concern—Photoshop’s AI enhancements are impressive but can feel overwhelming, especially for those who aim to keep edits minimal and true to reality. As a photojournalist and instructor, your need to avoid excessive digital manipulation aligns with journalistic integrity, but AI tools are becoming harder to sidestep in PS.

Adobe seems to be leaning toward AI innovation, and while they’re clearly catering to a broader creative base, it raises the question of how traditional workflows can coexist with these new tools. Lightroom does maintain a more restrained, photo-focused approach, but it doesn’t fully replace PS’s capabilities for complex, yet ethical, editing. It would be great to see Adobe acknowledge this by offering a “classic mode” or AI-free toggle to ensure a streamlined experience for professionals who need it! Anyone else feel the same?

I create what you see & hear.

What I would like is a generative AI switch.
I have no issue with tools that use AI to help the process, for example it would be great to type select grass, or select hair , etc. in order to speed up manually controlled processes. However, for integrity I would want to avoid the AI generation of image content. That way I am confident that the image content is mine and not generated by an algorithm.

@ John35281313 I've merged your thread with an ongoing idea thread (linked by Stephen) to keep these ideas together.

@davescm Yes! that's what i saying. I have no problem with other ai tools like seleting object or something  but "generative ai" is very unwelcome.
