P: Photoshop 26.11 Curves UI issues and feedback

In the 26.11 release, the Tone Curve UI has become a mess. Inside the curve graph, there is an unnecessary gradient background that professionals don’t need, and there is no option to turn it off. More critically, in CMYK mode the Yellow and Black curves are almost completely invisible, yet this was released publicly. This really needs to be fixed.

The keyboard arrow keys also needed a fix so that'll be in the next beta build (post-MAX) too. You can use up/down in either input or output fields to increment or decrement the values or select 1 or more points in the graph and move them with up/down/left/right.

I am using Photoshop 27.0 on a Mac Book Pro (M1 Max chip) running Sequoia 15.5 OS.

I have been using the up and down arrows in Curves for YEARS and just recently (maybe a couple weeks at the most) the up and down arrows to adjust the input and output numbers will not work on the INPUT number, but works fine on the OUTPUT number. The number doesn't change. When I use left and right arrows I cans see the cursor move to the left and right of the number. If I type in a number (changing from 0) it still doesn't work.

I have tried it also using the Curves adjustment layer as well as Curves and it the same issue for both.

Up and down arrows work fine in Levels for both input and output.

Not sure what has changed other than the normal Photoshop updates. It is truly FRUSTRATING when you have been doing something for years and then out of the blue some change screws up your workflow!!!

My work computer won't allow me to follow your path that you sent me. My work computer is configured where the users and library and all that is outlined is not the same as what is laid out on that link.

I will just use Levels. And hopefully our IT people can help.

I can confirm this under Windows 10 for Photoshop 2026 and 2025. Scrolling with the mouse wheel does not work as well.

Photoshop 2024 works correctly.

In the 27.1.0 release, I confirmed that an option has been added to remove the background gradient in the Tone Curve panel.

However, the curve line has become noticeably thick. In addition, in the Light UI, the RGB/CMY channel colors appear to have a slight tint, but they are almost indistinguishable.

It would be ideal if the UI could be refined using the 2024 version as a reference.

Further adjustments are still needed.

Please use colors that remain clearly visible across all UI themes.
Do not use colors so subtle that it becomes almost impossible to tell which channel is active.
Ensure visibility through appropriate curve colors rather than by increasing line thickness.
Please examine the 2024 Tone Curve UI carefully and consider how professionals actually use it.

I also find the new line and points make it feels as if my adjustments are less percise. I would like the option to revert to the old curves panel as well.

Photoshop version 27.1 introduces an updated Curves interface. While this is generally a welcome update, it appears to have a significant weakness. During precise color corrections, the control points (dots) are too large and often overlap each other. This makes it difficult to distinguish the direction of the curve, as the points also obscure the curve itself.

The biggest improvement in the new dialog is the ability to resize the panel, which allows for a better overall view. However, the control points should remain small, as their primary purpose is simply to mark and control the curve. Increasing their size brings no real benefit and instead creates a major drawback for accurate work.

This behavior should be reported as a bug, or at least there should be an option to disable large control points for users who prefer precise, unobstructed control.

I noticed with the last update for PhotoShop v27.1.0 the curves adjustment lines and point are now huge. I find these probelmatic and preferred the previous curves points and line width just right. With them as big as they are now, precise positioning is an issue
