Adding audio in MOGRT mess with a protected regions

I created a MOGRT in After Effects 25.0 (on Windows 10) with intro/outro animations in protected regions. Works fine with only visual layers.

But whenever I try to add a sound effect to the MOGRT inside a protected region, the template cannot be extended beyond the initial duration of the After Effects composition. Suddenly the clip of the MOGRT displays a little triangle in Premiere Pro 25.0, as if it was a fixed-length video clip. However, it normally behaves as a MOGRT (options can be changed in the Properties panel).

I attach a screenshot showing two versions of the same MOGRT, one exported with the sound effect muted and perfectly resizeable, and the other exported with the sound effect on and limited to the 5 sec length of the AE composition.

Could Adobe devs please try to fix this ? It's been years since I try to make use of MOGRT with responsive design with sound effects, and it's always been plagued with bugs. This complicates my workflow significantly.

I am available to provide further information if needed.

Thanks
M.L.

There is an unnecessary typo in my title, but can't find a way to change it. Should read "Adding audio in MOGRT mess with protected regions". Could you correct it?

Here is the formatted bug report:

Issue
MOGRTs created in After Effects 25.0 with sound effects in protected regions cannot be extended beyond the original composition's duration in Adobe Premiere Pro 25.0. A triangle appears in Premiere Pro, indicating a fixed-length video clip, even though the MOGRT remains editable in the Properties panel.

Adobe Premiere Pro version number
25.0

Operating system
Windows 10 Famille 64 bits (10.0, build 19045)

System Info

  • Motherboard: MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAW
  • Model: MS-7C02
  • BIOS: 3.B0
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core Processor (24 CPUs), ~3.7GHz
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 (12 GB VRAM)
  • RAM: 64 GB
  • Hard Drive: Samsung 970 Evo Plus NVME™ M.2 1TB SSD

Video format
The issue occurs with a Motion Graphics Template (MOGRT) exported from After Effects, not a specific video format.

Workflow details
The MOGRT includes protected intro and outro regions for responsive design, with sound effects added inside the protected regions.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open After Effects 25.0 on Windows 10.
  2. Create a composition with intro and outro animations and define them as protected regions for responsive design.
  3. Add a sound effect clip within one of the protected regions (in my case at the beginning of the composition).
  4. Export the project as a MOGRT file.
  5. Import the MOGRT into Adobe Premiere Pro 25.0.
  6. Attempt to extend the duration of the MOGRT clip in Premiere Pro's timeline.

Expected result
The MOGRT should be fully responsive, allowing its duration to extend or contract dynamically without restrictions, regardless of the presence of sound effects.

Actual result
The MOGRT's duration is fixed to the length of the original After Effects composition (5 seconds). A small triangle icon appears in Premiere Pro's timeline, indicating the clip is treated as a fixed-length video rather than a responsive MOGRT.

Hi @Maxime29161063u17i

Thanks for your report. Audio is not currently supported within Mogrts, it can be included in Mogrts but the only support is playback. Audio will also disable any protected time regions, as you are experiencing.

Here's an Idea asking for Support for Mogrt Audio, upvoting helps highlight features to the team.

Cheers,

Theresa
