Audio Glitch in The New Premiere Pro 2025 Update

Hello,

This morning, Adobe automatically updated my Premiere Pro to its newest version (PP 25.0) and I've encountered an audio glitch that's been happening. At first, I thought my headphones were causing the problem, but in Premiere's audio hardware settings - everything is routed to the correct input/output.

The Problem: When I click on the timeline and press play on my video clip with edited audio, the quality is lost compared to what it should sound like. Then when I tested another audio source (from Spotify or a YouTube video in Chrome) the same poor quality is reflecting all of my audio sources on my computer.

I did another test of restarting Premiere Pro, unplugging and plugging my headphones back into my computer, and I got the same result.

Looking for some guidance to see if anyone else has this problem but I'm going to check with my IT department to see if they have any ideas on how to resolve this.

Basic info from Guidelines:

- Adobe Premiere Pro 2025 (v 25.0)

- MacBook Pro 2023 - Apple M2 Max

- macOS Sequoia Version 15.0.1

Good Morning, I am also experiencing audio issues in the PR 50.0.0 build 61.

Audio on A3 will not play out. Audio hardware has been checked and no matter if on headset or on computer speakers symptoms are the same.  Audio file shows on meters. Move that same file to A1 or A2 and it plays out on both headphones and computer speaker and registers on meters.  I have checked all audio settings and the file will not play on tracks beyond A1 and A2.    Audio import errors as well for .wav and .mp3 file imports.

Machine Specs: imac 3 GHz 10-Core Intel Xeon processors

Radeon Pro Vega 64 16 GB

OS Sonoma 14.1.2

Reboots/shutdowns/ log in and out of adobe not working either.

Thanks.  I had just started the project so I uninstalled and went back a version.  I know it's beta but until things get ironed out a bit more I'll stick with stable versions.

My suspicion here is that the audio track your new sequence has is a mono track and your audio is only on one side. Or you have an audio interface and it is routing the audio out outputs 3-4 not 1-2.

I think the default sequence presets have changed or been updated in 2025 so that when you create a new sequence, it loads with audio channel presets also.

For ezxample, if i go to create a new squence it loads with a 23.98p timeline with 4 mono tracks by default. So when you put a stereo track on it, it will only play out one side of the speakers/headphones.

You cannot unfortunately change a mono track to a stereo one so you just have to create a new one and drag the audio onto that.

To confirm this is your issue, on the audio track, right click on where it says Output 1 or Output 2 and go to Track Output Channel Assignments.

If it only shows Ch1 or L or R, then it is only a mono track.

Thank you for that thought but can confirm it was a stereo file.  If mono is the default then I would have gotten at least a partial play out (l/r) to my hardware. The fact it played on a1 and a2 or as in apolograma's post play in a5 doesn't make sense.

I have had the same issue and have found the error exists when selecting the "Broadcast Settings" when you do your project build selection in the very beginning. Do not use the "Broadcast Settings" seems to be the solution as Adobe has changed things there it would seem.  If you are too deep in your project, you can select all clips in your timeline and then drag them to the "New Item" folder in the lowe right hand corner of your project panel. This will create a stereo timeline sequence by default it would seem. However, I was editing in 4K and when I did this the "New Item" created a 1080p timeline. So if you are in 1080 already then this is good solution, if not.. then just create a new project not using the Broadcast Settings would be the best practice it would seem. I hope there is another solution, but that is all I have been able to find at this time.

Open Window>Audio Track Mixer..." and look for the Mix track, it will be the last on  the right of all of the audio tracks.  Below the dropdown that says "Read" there will be a button with what looks like two small speakers pointing away from each other.  When you hover over it a tool tip labeled "Monitor All Channels" will appear.

Click on it to turn it on.  Now play and see if all of the audio tracks are audible.

If this fixes your issue, then the sequence Mix track has been set to Multichannel, and this probably happened because one of the new Broadcast presets was chosen.  If you do not have a use for Multichannel Mix track, I would recommend you do not use those presets and use the non-broadcast presets.
