Files and projects in project window get the file text cut off

Explorer ,
Jun 10, 2024 Jun 10, 2024

Minor issue, but for a while now Premiere has been artificially cutting off text for projects and files in both the project window and the productions window. I've attached a relevant screenshot that shows the final character in the project being cut off. I've seen this occur in a number of projects I've started as well. Not sure how to trigger it or if it's intended, but it's definitely weird to see the cut off despite there being plenty of room.

Running on Windows 10 (19045.4412) and Premiere Pro 24.4.1 (Build 2) with the latest Nvidia Drivers (555.99) though this issue has been occuring for at least 6 months now over multiple driver and program updates.

Literally all I do is open a project and it sometimes happens. Not the biggest deal, but a bug's a bug.

Hello @KarthXLR,

Thanks for the bug report. Are you speaking of the blurred text or where it says "MASTER." If the latter, you can expand any column by dragging left to right in the columm header. Let me know if you need help or if I have not understood your issue. I hope to help you.

Thanks,
Kevin

@Kevin-Monahan

The blurred text is sensitive material for a commercial project I"'m working on, so I had to blur it and other details for anonymity.

"If the latter, you can expand any column by dragging left to right in the column header."

Screenshot 2024-06-10 134322.pngIf you look in the screenshot the column is dragged far past the end of the final letter in "MASTER". The issue isn't that I'm not dragging the column, the issue is the text is being cut off prematurely. To illustrate this here's another screenshot. The copy (which should say "01" and not "0") is being cut off a character prematurely, and all of the R's in MASTER are being cut off as well. The issue is not the column.

Hi @KarthXLR,

Thanks for the message. Can you grab the "Project Locked" column just to the left of the letter "P" and slide it to the right? Does that work? If not, I do not see this problem in my own Production. It's quite strange. The team might need more information, including a copy of your project file. Can you send me a private message with a link to that? I can pass it along. I hope I can help you. Sorry for the frustration.

Thanks,
Kevin

I can confirm sliding the project locked column does nothing, and I'm sorry but I cannot provide the project file as it's under NDA via my job. As a reminder this happens on regular projects too, not just productions. This is just the current project that I've been able to observe it on most recent.

OK, thanks for checking, @KarthXLR.

Can you try a new project and see if you have the same results? It may be a project-specific bug or one related to the storage you are using.

Are you using networked storage? If so, try a test on your local drives with a brand-new project to see if you have the same problem.

If not, it might be a Windows-related issue, as I can't replicate it on macOS. Perhaps someone reading from the community can double-check. @R Neil Haugen, are you seeing file names truncated in projects and productions on your PC? I hope we can assist you in solving this problem.

Take Care,
Kevin

For this specific project we are using networked storage, Lucid Link specifically. but I've had this issue on other projects which were on local storage as well.

I'll see if I can get someone with a Windows system to reproduce the issue. @R Neil Haugen might help us until I can return to the office tomorrow.

Thanks,
Kevin

@KarthXLR,

One other thought might be related to the file naming process. Any punctuation marks or strange words with foreign accents or the like in your filepath? I'm sure we can pinpoint this issue. I am not seeing it here.

Kevin

@Kevin-Monahan Nope. No special characters. Just standard alphanumeric characters and underscores, very typical for any premiere project.
