Issue with file .MXF'Frame substitution recursion attempt aborting after multiple attempts on file'

Explorer ,
May 14, 2024 May 14, 2024

I have this problem since I installed the new 24.4 update. I open a project I worked on until yesterday and it doesn't recognize the .MXF video files, the audio all ok.

It is becoming increasingly difficult to work professionally with Premiere Pro!

Hi @massybart,

I read your message. I understand you're having a lot of trouble with your .MXF files. I apologize for this problem. Kindly give the product team details in the following format, if you have time. How do I write a bug report?

Thank You,
Kevin

Hey Paoloa, sorry you are having this problem with the 24.4 update.  Can you try disabling hardware acceleration by going to Preferences > Media > uncheck box for "Enable hardware accelerated decoding".  Then restart the app, and see if that helps your issue.

Uncheck both, and then restart please.

It do seems that the 24.4 update has some serious issues with .MXF files.

When i read your post i opened a project filmed with a Sony X70 so all media is .MXF and it takes forever to load due to "Media pending" and when done it wont playback video correctly. I notice the same as you, iow that the audio playback as expected.

I tried to import the old project into a brand new one i created in 24.4 but that did not work. I tried to import .MXF files into a brand new project created in 24.4 but got the same result as described abowe.

For now, downgrade to 24.3 to solve it.

EDIT: Played around with the project and got the same error message as you got as well.

Do you also have the new label colors left?

Yes, they carried over from 24.4 here as well.

Thanks jamieclarke but for now I'm staying on 3/24, when I finish the current doc I'm working on I'll give it a try!

I do not have a check box that says "Enable hardware accelerated decoding." I do have a check box that says "H264/HEVC hardware accelerated decoding (requires restart)". Underneath that is a greyed out check box that says "Nvidia." Underneath the Nvidia check box is another checkbox that says, "H264/HEVC hardware accelerated decoding (requires restart)." Both of these similarly-named checked boxes are checked.

What should I do with these...uncheck one, uncheck both?

Thanks.

Thanks. Doing this has pretty much eliminated all the error messages I was getting. I still get one or two during an editing session.

I assume unchecking these boxes means that Premiere is no longer "using" the nVidia card?
