Non-primary windows disappear after exporting in 23.5

Explorer ,
Jun 26, 2023 Jun 26, 2023

As the title says. I have a multi-monitor setup and whenever I export my second window just vanishes. I can't figure out how to get it back without relaunching the program. I can't afford to waste anymore time on this so I'm just downgrading to the last stable version for me (23.3).

Version 23.5

Windows 10 64-bit

@jamieclarke I sought out this thread today because I finally discovered a workaround to this issue and wanted to share.  Although it seems like you guys are already on the right track!

I run a 2-screen setup, Windows 11, Premiere 24.6.3.  My right screen is the Windows primary monitor, and where I place the Home/Import/Edit/Export window.  My left screen has my Project and a few other windows grouped together, and these grouped windows will for whatever reason not snap to the desktop edges nor w

Hi @KarthXLR @Michel5FFD @TomWho @Keith38537327hak2 -

Could you try one thing for me? On the monitor that does not display the Home, Import, Edit, or Export tabs, please resize the Premiere Panels so that they are not close to any of the screen edges. Let us know if this resolves the issue.

I replied to @jstrawn but still have no reply. I'm still dealing with this same issue almost a year later and control, shift 0 is not a fix. It's reseting workspace which only gets rid of the problem, until you have to export again. Could someone please reach out to me from Adobe?

Oh by no means is it a fix, but the OP was talking about relaunching the program. This is merely annoyance mitigation.

What's even crazier is they just releasead the 2025 update and the issue still persisits. At this point, I don't think Adobe cares to address the problem and all of us having to deal with it are out of luck.

I have run at least three, normally four monitors in Premiere for a decade now. I've never had this. I know the devs are having a devil of a time replicating it in-house.

So ... it's a pretty small percentage of the users getting this, and yea, it's gonna be annoying as Hades if that's you. But it's not because they don't care, it's just they can't replicate.

What you can't replicate, you can't fix.

What can't they replicate? There's several other users that are having the exact same issue and I've even been on with Adobe reps who have seen it. It would be different if I was the only one this is happening too.

Still happens here. I was one of the first who sent a video to the support here one xear ago. Nothings better. Every time I have to reset my Workspace. Waste of time. And just because they cahnged the export how it was. Don't need this extra Export section and on top I have this annoying problem. I'm producing with a lot of time pressure. And it sucks.

I run a 2-screen setup, Windows 11, Premiere 24.6.3.  My right screen is the Windows primary monitor, and where I place the Home/Import/Edit/Export window.  My left screen has my Project and a few other windows grouped together, and these grouped windows will for whatever reason not snap to the desktop edges nor will they fully maximize.  So I manually resize these grouped windows to be "fullscreen".  Since the new Export window was introduced I was having the problem described above: everything on my left window would disappear when going to export. Resetting to my saved workspace layout was the only solution.

Today I inadvertently discovered that if I resized the left screen's grouped windows to be slightly smaller than the screen itself (with a little background showing), those windows do NOT disappear when moving to Export.  Not a perfect solve, but it does seem to work for me!  FINALLY.

Exactly the issue that many of us have complained about FOR YEARS.

If your panel groups on secondary screens touch the edge of the screen mayhem ensues.

PERIOD.

It is annoying. And they still haven't given us a modern UI for multiple screen workspaces.

Jamie,

Every time I've been at NAB (2014 on) and MAX, I've begged the devs to please create a modern multi-monitor UI. So we could by name put a panel group on the B or Dell monitor ... and it would be able to take the whole screen without worrrying about making one.

And of course, leaving a couple pixels on all edges 'bare' so it doesn't creep onto another monitor and bollix up Premiere.

Please, pretty please?

I've come to the conclusion that they  are never to going to fix this, if they haven't by now lol. I have to constantly keep resetting my workspace every time this happens and it wastes a lot of time. They have enough people here compalining and still won't do anything about it.

Hi @Keith38537327hak2,

Thanks for your response and welcome to the forum. I'm Kevin from Adobe Support, one of the moderators here.

Fortunately, we have @jamieclarke on the thread, and he is on the team, so we can be sure that the development team is aware of the issue.

There are a good number of views and upvotes here (and if you are reading this and have not yet upvoted, please upvote today) so I hope we can continue to shed light on the severity of the issue.

What would help: One thing I did not notices here on the thread was detailed system information. That would help mightily, as would a screen movie showing the issue.

As a pro editor previous to my job here at Adobe, and as a member of this community, I promise to advocate for this fix. I am very sorry for the hassle. Take care.

Thanks,
Kevin

This is happening on Premiere 25.2.3 (build 4). The only workaround that works for me is I have to switch to a random workspace, then back to the one I use. If I try to reload the workspace first, it does nothing. I'm exporting tons of videos every day and this is really starting to eat up valuable time. Workspaces have been broken in some capacity on multi-monitors for at least a decade, so I don't have high hopes. Every time I open Premiere, I have to adjust my workspace because it has never saved correctly, since I started uses multiple monitors decades ago.

It even got worse. Normally you "just" reset the Workspace you worked with. Now you have first to change to a different workspace and then back to the one you wanna work with. It's ridicoulus.

I've solved this by making eliminating secondary premiere windows and just dragging the main window to the second screen and rearranging the tabs inside premiere, if that makes any sense? So It looks exactly the same but the difference is there is only one Premiere window that is expanded accross two screens.
