Hi,

Premiere Pro CS4 is compatible with 32 and 64 bit windows 7.0. However, Premiere Pro CS5 is compatible with only 64 bit.

If you purchase CS5 master Collection or Production Premium CS5, you will get CS4 Premiere Pro 32 bit. It means that

Premiere Pro CS4 will work in Windows 7.0 32 or 64 bit.

Please refer to this Microsoft link which shows the compatibility of Adobe Products with Windows

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/Default.aspx?type=Software

I hope this link is help ful.

Regards,

SM

It should still install and activate with a valid serial number (although, there's no way to know how long the activation servers will still work).  When CS4 was current, it used Adobe Application Manager with our Adobe ID instead of Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop.  Also, at times, we needed to launch Photoshop and use the activate option in the Help pulldown menu.

The downside of running the older software is that if something does not go as expected, there is no support for it.

Also, anything Dolby related is no longer licensed for use.

You replied to a 12 year old post.

The activation server for CS4 has been shut down.

And by extension, this will become a moot point since Microsoft itself will be ending all free support for all 32-bit PCs when Windows 10 goes EOS in October 2025 since Windows became 64-bit-only with the advent of Windows 11. After that date, one must pay a subscription fee to Microsoft in order to continue receiving security updates for that OS.

This thread was on a backlog list of unanswered posts.

It's unfortunate it never got a reply.  At least the information is there now.

@Warren Heaton

Warren, I replied to a recent message that revived the thread. I did wonder if it might be spam and it looks another moderator has now removed it, orphaning both of our replies and making it look like we were responding to a post from 2011 instead. Oh, well.

I've locked the thread, because things have changed since 2011.
