Any ideas on why I am getting this icon and cannot perform basic audio edits?

Hi David

Are you trying to cut your audio clip using the Razor tool? Make sure your cursor is on the clip where able to add cut.

If your cursor is outside the clip or at the edge of the clip you will see a red cross on the tool. if you want more accuracy zoom in timeline and try again.

It looks like you have Track Keyframes turned on for those tracks, judging by the keyframe envelope (line) that's going through all of the tracks versus just the clips. This makes it so that you're just editing that parameter on the track and you'll lose the ability to cut or manipulate the single clips. Change the track keyframe type back to Clip Keyframes.

You need to set the track to Show Clip Keyframes first then you can cut the clip.
